DEFINITION: Under general supervision, assists instructor in swim classes, enforces all rules and regulations pertaining to the safety and well-being of visitors and patrons. Perform related work as required. NOTE: This program provides on the job training to prepare a swim aide to become a Swim Instructor. This entry-level aquatics position is designed to give valuable training and orientation to the American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Program, and the Mill Valley Aquatics Program for Individuals who desire to work in aquatics but don’t have required experience. Minimum age required to apply, 14 years old. 

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

• Assist Swim Instructor to provide all levels of swimming to all age groups.
• Follow the Instructors’ guidelines and directions working with the group or an individual as needed.
• Maintain certain class records and reports as required.
• Prepare instructional equipment, and clean up after classes.
• Provide basic locker room checks and regular restroom and facility light cleaning. 
• Deal tactfully and courteously with the public.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other city employees, other agencies, and the general public.
• Respond to emergencies based upon facility emergency plan guidelines, which may include rendering CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation)/using an AED.
• Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
• The ability to speak English clearly and understandably.
• Perform related duties as required.

TRAINING & EXPERIENCE: No experience required. CPR certification strongly desired.

Responsibilities:

Leaders in IT all play a key role in working across organization boundaries to deliver superior IT services while shaping to emerging demands. Working under the CIO and Assistant CIO, the Deputy CIO is a member of the IT Executive Staff and must demonstrate how to be an equal and trusted part of the leadership team. San Jose leaders are “working executives” with high expectations for personal work output. 

Reporting through the City CIO and Assistant CIO, the Deputy CIO oversees a team of ~30 contributors and a Citywide portfolio supporting ~7,000 employees and volunteers. Key metrics for DCIO center on customer satisfaction, reliability, performance, and project-value success. 

A short snapshot of the Business Solutions DCIO’s portfolio includes over 140 primary business applications, including a technical environment that spans Oracle (PeopleSoft/Taleo/Hyperion), Cayenta, SimpliGov, Microsoft O365/SharePoint/OneDrive/MSSQL), multiple cloud providers, enterprise reporting and data visualization solutions, and specialized applications in revenue, treasury, utilities billing, et al. 

Specific responsibilities include:

1. Direct and lead multiple teams by establishing division goals and performance standards, conducting regular evaluations of the staff members' performance, and coaching staff members on performance and career development consistent with the departmental mission and expectations. 
2. Proactively monitor technology solutions and plan for system roadmaps that will benefit the City's ability to provide services in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.
3. Manage and develop the skills and competency of the Information Technology Department staff based on current needs as well as emerging technologies or business strategies needed to support all work initiatives.
4. In partnership with City departments, provide executive leadership through strategic goals, objectives, and high-level requirements executed with departments. 
5. Direct the allocation of resources to achieve timely outcomes and measurable goals within budget; recommend IT spending and participate in collaborative resource planning processes to ensure high-quality services at the lowest cost to the organization.

The City of San José Information Technology Department (ITD) seeks an exceptional senior manager to lead the City Portfolio-Products-Projects Office (C3PO) as Division Manager. 

The Portfolio-Products-Projects Office is a six year-old division in the City. Deconstructing traditional project management, San Jose’s C3PO is responsible for (1) executing technology and innovation initiatives with success; (2) ensuring strong business value from City products and platforms over time; and (3) building organizational capacities for the City to consistently transform and improve. 

The C3PO Division Manager will inspire team members and nurture a culture that is truly collaborative and customer-centric towards these ends. The position is critical to the City achieving ambitious goals to innovate, accelerate delivery of solutions, support deep collaboration and deliver remarkable value to the San Jose organization and community. 

The leader of the C3PO will work directly with the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Assistant Chief Information Officer (ACIO) to build the team through a significant hiring phase. In its first five years, the C3PO already drastically improved technology execution success rates, earning the trust of partner departments. Responsibilities:

The C3PO Division Manager works closely with the IT Department Executive Team and oversees approximately 10 to 15 contributors, an average annual project portfolio of 75+ initiatives, and 40+ primary systems for focused lifecycle management. The C3PO works across 20 major departments citywide to:

• Ensure successful project execution;
• Deliver continuously high business value from the City’s products and platforms through expert lifecycle management; and 
• Enable organizational capabilities and cultures that makes transformation through technology increasingly routine. 

Specific examples of work priorities over the next 18 months include: My San Jose, Business Process Automation, Integrated Permitting System and Development Services Upgrade and Transformation, Vehicle Blight service request management, 3-1-1 contact redesign, Business Tax system, emergency management technology refresh, IoT platforms and controls, infrastructure initiatives, and other efforts at the forefront nationally. Work is measured on the basis of hitting targets for cost, schedule, scope/quality, and realization of value at the customer level.

The City of San Jose is seeking an Enterprise Client Services Manager (Enterprise Supervising Technology Analyst) for the Information Technology Department (ITD). 

The Information Technology Department houses a team of customer-centric technicians and engineers to support the use of technology by City employees and the public. As the Enterprise Client Services Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for overseeing and managing that team of engineers and technicians ensuring excellent endpoint management services and day-to-day customer support services. 

The City of San José believes in the model of utilizing technology as a means for increased optimization as well as cost savings. With significant technology refresh and upgrade, there is a greater need for highly skilled technical hands-on leadership, oversight, and project management. 

This position requires strong technical hands-on experience and leadership skills as well as the ability to take initiative and direct others. We are seeking an individual with a willingness to adapt to an ever-changing business as well as an ever-changing technical environment. The ideal candidate must take full ownership of managing all endpoint services and operations and successfully lead projects to completion. This position demands a proven ability to resolve complex technical issues with limited resources. Most importantly, a team leader, team player, and positive attitude are essential to this position.

Key duties may include but are not limited to:

• Managing a Tier-1 helpdesk team to provide excellent customer service requested via online tickets, phone, and walkups.  
• Providing endpoint services management for UCaaS/VoIP, PCs (Windows 10/11 OS), conference rooms, Zoom, etc.
• Designing and overseeing implementation for newly introduced client service project initiatives and ensuring operationalization transitions to the IT Tier-1 support.

The City of San Mateo Parks and Recreation Department is looking responsible, enthusiastic,

and energetic individuals to join our Aquatics Section!

Qualifications:

Must be at least 15 years old and have the ability to obtain a work permit, if under the age of 18.  Applicants must have completed and passed the Lifeguard Training class that includes CPR, FPR, and AED by June 1, 2024. WSI (water safety instructor) is highly recommended.

Lifeguard Job Responsibilities:

• The primary responsibility of a lifeguard is to protect lives by using their skills to prevent injury among patrons.  This duty does not only include rescuing drowning victims or administering CPR and first aid.  Being alert and proactive also helps to prevent dangerous situations from ever occurring in the first place.
• Enforcing the rules fairly and consistently is a close second major duty and could even be considered to be a part of patron surveillance.  Help the patrons to keep themselves safe by monitoring and putting an end to dangerous behaviors. 
• Maintenance and cleaning tasks are also part of the lifeguard’s duties.  These can include monitoring chemical levels in the pool, picking up trash and organizing equipment, or inspecting the facility for unsafe conditions.

Swim Instructor Job Responsibilities:

• The swim instructor is responsible for instructing swim lesson participants in a variety of swim levels.
• This position is also responsible for the safety of the participants in their own class.
• Work hours as scheduled which includes beginning and ending class on time; remaining after class to answer participant and/or parent questions as needed and clean up supplies.
• Instructs and evaluates students participating in swim lessons.
• Submits completed report cards, skills sheets, and attendance information on time.

The Enterprise Strategic Support Engineer will be providing hybrid meetings and Council systems strategic support under the Productivity and Collaboration Application Program. This role and responsibilities will address help desk tickets submitted from the City Council Offices and City Manager’s Office to resolve speed, capacity, and security issues of software applications, application performance upgrades, equipment and/or complications from urgent hybrid meetings. In addition, the position will work to develop and recommend design plans for the various software applications; and provide training to help acclimate staff with current and upgraded software applications. Salary Information:

• Enterprise Information Technology Engineer I: $105,040.00 – $127,795.20 annually 
• Enterprise Information Technology Engineer II: $111,280.00 – $135,595.20 annually 

The actual salary shall be determined by the final candidate’s qualifications and experience. In addition to the starting salary, employees in the Enterprise Information Technology Engineer (EITE) I/II shall also receive an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation pay.
