Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS), provides a broad spectrum of Trauma Informed mental health and substance use services for children, youth, families, adults and older adults. We provide behavioral health in diverse settings including community outpatient clinics, corrections, field-based settings such as homeless encampments and shelters, and through a network of community agencies and independent providers who offer outpatient services, residential treatment, rehabilitation and other services for adults. BHRS Adult and Older Adult Services serves residents of San Mateo County age 18 years and older with severe functional impairments due to a serious mental illness and a/or multiple co-occurring, substance, medical and/or developmental disorder. The Adult Psychiatric Social Worker/Marriage Family Therapists an integral member of a multi-disciplinary team, providing a broad range of psychosocial interventions with the goal of improving the quality of life of the client.

The ideal candidates will possess:

• Skills in assessment, diagnostic, and evaluation techniques.
• Demonstrated knowledge of trauma-informed care principles, techniques and trends in counseling, psychotherapy, clinical case management, crisis management and various treatment modalities (e.g. evidence-based practices).
• Experience providing treatment for adults with serious mental illness.
• Experience delivering services to adult consumers who have co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
• Experience delivering services in diverse populations for adults and older adults. In a variety of settings (e.g. outpatient clinics, homeless encampments, shelters and correctional settings).
• Comprehensive and timely documentation skills (e.g. progress notes, assessments, client care plans, etc.).
• Demonstrated expertise, skill and interest in working with a broad range of clients of diverse cultures and backgrounds, such as Latino, Pacific Islander, African American, and LGBTQ, and an ability to provide culturally appropriate and proficient services.
• Skill in establishing and maintaining productive working relationships with families, co-workers, other professionals, collaborative partners and the public.
• Extensive knowledge of available community resources within the County of San Mateo and its neighboring counties.
• Experience using electronic health/medical record systems (e.g. AVATAR, SOARIAN).
• Fluency in Spanish and experience providing clinical services using bilingual skills.

Example of Duties

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Perform initial diagnostic evaluation noting behavioral symptoms which may indicate a psychiatric or co-occurring disorder and interpersonal or family dysfunction;
• Perform risk assessments; Determine and develop appropriate treatment plans for all clients in the caseload;
• Provide individual, group and family therapy, care coordination, case management, rehabilitation, and crisis intervention as appropriate;
• Participate in developing individual and group treatment plans utilizing a variety of psychotherapeutic, psychosocial and psycho educational modalities;
• Conduct home visits and/or field-based services;
• Crisis Intervention;
• Make client referrals and plan discharge procedures;
• Assess progress of clients on a selected basis and propose modifications to rehabilitation plans in order to meet goals agreed upon by the clients/patients;
• Prepare and maintain psychosocial case histories for use in diagnostic evaluations and of patient progress;
• Supervise doctoral interns, masters level student interns and trainees;
• Provide outreach, engagement and refer clients to appropriate mental health program service resources;
• Collect and evaluate psychiatric information such as case histories, behavior patterns and family relationships;
• Analyze factors which exert an adverse effect upon health problems, treatment, or recovery, or which may contribute to or are responsible for mental illness or affect the potential for rehabilitation;
• Conduct treatment groups in schools and other community settings with emotionally and behaviorally disturbed children toward the goal of achieving higher functioning in interpersonal relationships and learning.
• Work as a psychiatric team member with other treatment disciplines;
• Utilize Trauma Informed Care and other Evidence-based practices
• Provide consultation and education services. Ability to participate in an on-call rotation and responding to after-hours calls for Crisis and Outreach and HEAL;
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Licensure/Certification

• Psychiatric Social Worker I/II: Registration with the Board of Behavioral Sciences as an Intern (Associate Clinical Social Worker). An individual hired in this classification must become licensed within six years from the date of employment as a Clinical Social Worker issued by the State of California. • Marriage & Family Therapist I/II: Registration with the Board of Behavioral Sciences as an Intern (Associate Marriage and Family Therapist). An individual hired in this classification must become licensed within six years from the date of employment as a Marriage and Family Therapist in the State of California. We are now hiring part-time Lifeguards and Water Safety Instructors for our aquatics programs!

Located at the McBean Memorial Pool, our Lifeguards and Water Safety Instructors are an essential part of the aquatics recreational programs that we offer our residents.  Be a part of a team that makes teaches important swimming skills and allows everyone to beat the heat and have fun!

We are looking for candidates with qualities such as reliability, creativity, dependability and enthusiasm.  The aquatics programs will require you to work various days, weekends or evenings, but we are flexible with schedules.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Include but are not limited to the following:

• Maintain constant surveillance as assigned to safeguard swimmers from drowning and other accidents.
• Maintain discipline and orderly conduct among patrons and enforce all pertinent City pool rules and regulations in order to maintain a safe environment. 
• Promote and enforce water safety procedures; effect swimming rescues; render first aid and CPR as required. 
• Assist in conducting classes at all participant skill levels (beginning through advanced) and supervise the conduct of swimmers in City pool in order to maintain a safe environment. 
• Perform pool facility maintenance functions as required. 
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other City employees, and the public using principles of good customer service. 
• Perform related duties as assigned.

THE DEPARTMENT

THE DEPARTMENT

The Public Works Department is comprised of the Engineering, Maintenance, and Water Quality Control Plant divisions.  The Engineering Division is responsible for delivering facilities and infrastructures that meet the needs of City residents and complying with standards and requirements established in the engineering guidelines and the City's Master Plan.

The Engineering Division is headed by the Principal Engineer.  The Senior Engineer position is an advanced-level engineering classification requiring professional registration, performing a wide variety of engineering duties in civil, sanitary, traffic, and other municipal public works, maintenance, and construction engineering projects.  This class is distinguished from other lower-level engineering classes in that it provides direction to staff and performs the more complex engineering and project management assignments.  Assignments and projects may be long-term or may constitute a major portion of a continuous or comprehensive engineering or Capital Improvement Program.

Under general direction, the Associate Civil Engineer performs difficult professional engineering work in the design and construction of public works, including sanitary, traffic, and mechanical projects; leads and trains lower-level engineering staff on assigned projects; and does related work as required.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Facility duties may include, but are not limited to:

• Unlock and lock buildings for renters and programs.
• Be present and assist renters during events.
• Set up and breakdown tables and chairs for rentals and program classes.
• Maintain and keep facilities clean during and after events.
• Move furniture/equipment and return to appropriate storage areas after events.
• Assist renters with facility equipment usage.
• Clean sinks, counters, mirrors, stalls, floors, restrooms, and garbage disposal before and after rentals and program classes to ensure facilities are clean inside and outside.
• Performs duties within OSHA standards.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Works under general supervision of the Facilities Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Assists clients and family members in understanding behavioral health diagnosis, contributing factors/causes, effects, prognosis, rehabilitation, and treatment.

• Works with clients to address stressors and barriers to treatment and/or social functioning; identifies and focuses on client strengths and personal resources to effectively engage and treat client.
