Under general direction, perform a wide range of field and office duties to support and/or accomplish the goals and objectives of the Police Department. This positions works less than 950 hours per year and on average, works less than 20 hours on average per week.

Police Officers at the City of Hayward perform a wide variety of law enforcement assignments including but not limited to: patrol, traffic control, criminal and juvenile investigation, and radio communication. These require operating a patrol car or motorcycle, arresting and citing violators of laws, writing reports, serving warrants, testifying in court and providing information to the public.
Effective 7/1/2017: $4,364 - $5,304 Monthly
Effective 7/1/2018: $4,538 - $5,516 Monthly
Under general supervision on an assigned shift; performs a variety of law enforcement and modern crime prevention work; controls traffic flow; patrols an assigned area for the prevention of crime and enforcement of federal, state and local laws and regulations, and arrests violators as necessary; performs investigative work; and other related law enforcement work as required.
