BUILDING ATTENDANT

Salary:  $16.54 to $27.56/hour, non-benefitted position, DOE

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Facility duties may include, but are not limited to:

• Unlock and lock buildings for renters and programs.
• Be present and assist renters during events.
• Set up and breakdown tables and chairs for rentals and program classes.
• Maintain and keep facilities clean during and after events.
• Move furniture/equipment and return to appropriate storage areas after events.
• Assist renters with facility equipment usage.
• Clean sinks, counters, mirrors, stalls, floors, restrooms, and garbage disposal before and after rentals and program classes to ensure facilities are clean inside and outside.
• Performs duties within OSHA standards.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Works under general supervision of the Facilities Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to relate well to the public.
• Be reliable and responsible.
• Inform renters of current facility policies and procedures.
• Demonstrate poise and good judgment.
• Work flexible hours including weekends or holidays.
• Move furniture and operate custodial equipment.
• Lift 50 pounds; carry 30 pounds.
• Follow oral and written directions.
• Work independently.
• Respond to emergency situations quickly and efficiently.

Desired experience:

Previous public contact experience desirable.  Knowledge of general custodial cleaning apparatus.

Education/Licenses:

High school graduate or equivalent.  Valid California Driver’s License required.

The Position and Responsibilties

As a member of the Public Works, Engineering Division, in the Development Section, the Engineering Technician I/II will perform a wide variety of support functions to assist with customer service, development review and permitting.

Examples of Job Duties

General Duties for both the Technician I and II in all assignments:

• Operates a variety of office machines, calculators, personal computers and a variety of software applications.
• Makes initial review of project submittals and RFI's and routes correctly.
• Under the direction of a registered engineer, prepares manually or through CAD diagrams for field design changes.

Engineering Technician I (Development Section)

• Reviews and issues encroachment permits for work in the public right-of-way to residents, private utility companies including but not limited to PG&E, AT&T, Comcast, Alameda County Water District (ACWD) and Union Sanitary District (USD).
• Assists the Project Engineer in the review of private development applications from planning entitlement phase, to issuance of building permits, to approval of final/parcel maps and construction of any public improvements required to support the proposed development.
• Provides customer service at the Development Service Center related to private development applications and requirements for issuance of encroachment permits.

Engineering Technician II (Development Section)

In addition to the duties listed above for Engineering Technician I:

• Participates in the review and recommendation process for more complex encroachment and grading permits.

Town of Danville
SUMMER AQUATIC STAFF POSITIONS
Salary Range: $16.54 to $29.22/hour; non-benefited, DOE and position offered

The Town of Danville strives to provide an aquatic environment that is safe, instructive and fun through recreational and lap swim, special events, the Learn to Swim program, Junior Lifeguard program and Lifeguard training classes.

PROGRAM LEADER (SWIM INSTRUCTOR/LIFEGUARD)

Salary Range: $16.54 to $22.05/hour

QUALIFICATIONS  
Applicants must be at least 15 years of age.  Required certifications by the end of Staff Training Week:  American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid (Lifeguard).  

Aquatics staff members generally work 3-5 hours per day, in morning, afternoon, or evening shifts at San Ramon Valley High School or Monte Vista Pools.  Most staff members will work an average of 15-20 hours per week, up to a maximum of 37.5 hours per week. 

SUPERVISION 
Under the general supervision of the Pool Managers, Program Coordinator and Program Supervisor, the Swim Instructor/Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring aquatic safety and providing instruction for pool patrons.  Swim Instructors/Lifeguards must enjoy working with children and the general public, be patient, reliable and have lots of energy.  

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES 
Job duties include lifeguarding, swim lesson instruction, leading pool programming, mandatory staff training, pulling tarps, required daily fitness swims, and administrative duties, including some weekend shifts.  Also: 

• Provide aquatic safety and instruction for pool patrons.
• Use positive discipline and communicate effectively with parents/guardians.
• Perform duties within OSHA standards.

PROGRAM ASSISTANT (SENIOR GUARD)

Salary Range: $17.64 to $29.22/hour

QUALIFICATIONS 
Applicants must be at least 17 years of age.  Required certifications by the end of Staff Training Week: American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, and it is preferable to have a Water Safety Instructor certificate as well. Senior Guards must have at least two years of lifeguard/swim instructor experience; leadership experience is highly desired.

• Teaches swim classes and acts as a lifeguard as needed.
• Maintains inventory of pool equipment and supplies, assure pool equipment is in excellent condition and arrange repairs as needed.
• Maintains proper and accurate attendance and cash handling records.

Applicants must be high school graduates, at least 20 years of age, and have experience working with youth in a recreation setting.  Energetic, self-motivated, creative, and organized.  Able to work as part of a team.  This is a Monday through Friday, 20 to 37.5-hour position that requires open availability.   

SUPERVISION 
Under the general supervision of the Program Coordinator, the Summer Camp Site Manager is responsible for on-site supervision of staff and participants of multiple camps located at the same site.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES  

• Serve as a mentor and role model to campers.
• Work as part of a team of camp leaders.
• Safely and appropriately supervise campers on off-site field trips.
