THE POSITION:

The City of San Rafael Sanitation District is recruiting for a full-time Administrative Assistant II position.  Under general supervision, this position provides responsible, varied, secretarial and office administrative assistance to the department.    

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to):

• Set up and maintain financial, statistical, and operational records, including reviewing departmental payroll submittals and various time sheets.
• Administer and maintain complex procedures, including issuing permits, submitting required information/forms for the inter-governmental reimbursements and/or grant monies; and as related to assigned program areas.
• Prepare, distribute, and post agendas and minutes for a variety of meetings; provide additional administrative support which may include the transcription of recorded or written information.
• Create, edit, and update departmental information on the internet and intranet.
• Carry out routine required procedures related to departmental hiring.
• Prepare required statistical reports for various departmental programs.
• Provide information relating to responsibilities assigned in person or by telephone.
• Refer more complex requests, technical inquiries, or serious complaints to appropriate staff members.
• Maintain inventory and office supplies; prepare purchase orders.
• Research and compile information as requested.
• Provide technical and functional supervision as appropriate to clerical personnel; recommend organizational procedural changes affecting clerical activities.
• Screen calls, visitors, and mail and take action appropriate to request/situation.
• Independently respond to letters and general correspondence of a routine nature.
• Make travel arrangements, maintain appointment schedules and calendars, arrange meetings and conferences, and schedule facilities reservations as necessary.
• Operate a variety of office equipment and use a variety of software programs including word processing, spreadsheet, and visual presentation equipment as appropriate.
• Type, edit and format a variety of materials including staff reports, agendas, general correspondence and memoranda; review finished materials for completeness, accuracy, format, compliance with policies and procedures, and appropriate English usage.
• Follow-up on projects, transmits information and keeps informed of departmental activities.
• Initiate and maintain a variety of files and records.
• Oversee and coordinate preparation, compilation, reproduction and distribution of various documents and reports.
• Assist in gathering data, preparing and monitoring the annual budget.
• Perform a variety of tasks related to office administration specific to the department in which assigned. 
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers other City employees, and the public using principles of good customer service. 
• Performs related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE OF/ABILITY TO:

• Knowledge of English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
• Knowledge of modern office methods, procedures, computer equipment and various software applications.
• Knowledge of business letter writing and arithmetic.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

• Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade AND
• Two years of responsible secretarial or office administrative experience similar to an Administrative Assistant I with the City of San Rafael. 
• Valid California driver’s license preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Honorary Dean Allison Internship may include:

• Assisting staff to develop and implement the City’s sidewalk maintenance program.
• Drafting, iterating, and designing policy to introduce the City’s tree ordinance, urban forestry initiative, and the City’s public asset inventory project 
• Assisting with the permitting, sediment, reporting and regulatory compliance in support of the City’s Dredging project.
• Designing content and materials for public dissemination and outreach regarding City projects, maintenance activities, and public safety information.
• Preparing written reports on DPW program activities.
• Creating, updating and auditing project financial spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel.
• Conducting research and analysis of federal, state and local laws related to DPW engineering projects.
• Compiling information, preparing documents and public education materials for community members and stakeholders on DPW projects.
• Participating in city-wide projects in which DPW public works programs and activities.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Graduated or currently enrolled in the 3rd year of a Bachelor’s degree program or higher in an Engineering, Business, Public Administration, Environmental Science, or related program.
• Ability to multitask and stay organized.
• Proficient computer efficiency, including familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.

Position Summary

 

Under supervision of the Ironworker Superintendent, performs structural maintenance, repair and construction for the Golden Gate Bridge and other District facilities as required. Following plans and specifications, lays-out and fabricates a wide range of items.

Minimum Qualifications

 

Education and/or Experience: Completion of Ironworker’s Apprenticeship. Four years’ Structural Ironworker experience required; welding and shop fabrication experience desirable. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for completion of an Ironworker Apprenticeship Program; applicants substituting additional qualifying experience for an Ironworker Apprenticeship Program should attach a statement supporting the additional qualifying experience. 

  

Required License: Must possess and maintain a current, valid California driver's license and satisfactory driving record. No reckless driving and DUI infractions within the last 7 years. No more than 2 moving violations within the last 3 years. May operate District vehicles.

 

Physical Requirements:  Must be able to perform heavy manual labor. Work is performed outside in varying weather conditions. Must be able to stoop, bend, push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds. Will be required to wear a respirator, or other personal protective equipment involving full body protection. Must be able to work comfortably at considerable heights from platforms, ladders, floats or suspended scaffolds; climb and walk on the Bridge cables; and climb ladders.

THE POSITION:

The City of San Rafael Parking Services Department is seeking a full-time Parking Attendant II.  Under direct supervision, this position provides general service and information to the public, is responsible for the upkeep, presentation, and general operations of all City parking areas.

The Parking Attendant II will perform a variety of Parking Operations duties and will have the authority to make some operational decisions.  This position will perform basic equipment maintenance based on the presence of fairly clear guidelines from which to make those decisions, and the availability of supervision in non-routine circumstances.

• Assists the public at all City parking locations, providing general information about the City of San Rafael, and specific information about rates, locations, and various programs.
• Operates all parking equipment and collects parking fees and provides change to customers.

• Perform regularly scheduled maintenance on all facilities according to manufacturers’ specifications and Standard Operating Procedures.

SUPERVISION: Works under the general supervision of the Assistant Manager, Facilities, who establishes goals and objectives and evaluates performance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Sufficient experience, training and/or education to demonstrate the knowledge and ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. In lieu of a degree, work-related experience that demonstrates the skills and experience necessary to perform this role will be accepted. Development of the required knowledge and abilities is typically obtained through but not limited to:
• High School Diploma or GED
• Three (3) years full-time industrial building/facility maintenance experience, or a combination of education and experience demonstrating the ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position.
• Must have valid California driver’s license with a safe driving record.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• General experience troubleshooting electrical systems, heating and cooling (HVAC) systems, plumbing, and hydraulic systems.
• Able to work safely in different kinds of weather conditions and workspace environments.
• Able to safely lift 50lbs and climb/work on ladders and other equipment.

The City of Foster City is looking for an experienced Associate Engineer with a passion for public service. This position will provide exposure to large-scale projects and community engagement and performs engineering work on the following types of capital improvement projects:  buildings, parks, levee, storm water systems, lagoon, streets, traffic signals, water distribution systems, and wastewater collection systems.

We are seeking highly skilled individuals with the competence and experience to address challenges with confidence and professionalism. Individuals that demonstrates skills in any of the following areas: land development, transportation/traffic engineering, and storm system management. Independently management for the design and constriction of capital improvement projects and AutoCAD experience are highly desirable. 

Education and Experience
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a directly related field, and three (3) years of professional experience in civil engineering work including project design, plan checking, and project management.

Licenses and Certifications

• Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid Class C California driver’s license upon appointment.
• Possession of a valid Certificate of Registration as a Civil Engineer in the State of California, desirable.

Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed for relevant education, experience, training and other job related qualifications. The process will consist of an Oral Panel Interview. An eligibility list will be established from those who pass the examination process with a score of 70% or higher. The Yuba County Sheriff’s Department is currently recruiting for two full-time Animal Care Services Officer. Under close supervision, incumbents enforces State and County laws regarding stray, dangerous, rabid, nuisance and unwanted domestic animals; investigates complaints; patrols assigned areas; captures animals; removes dead animals from public and private properties; assist in feeding and cleaning animal enclosures; assist with euthanizations and disposal of animals in a humane and prescribed method and performs other duties related to humane animal protection and control; performs related work as assigned including assisting the public with drop off, pick up and adoption of animals as necessary.  This is a working level class in animal control, responsible for enforcing applicable regulations in a limited public officer capacity. San Mateo County Health's Correctional Health Services is seeking qualified and experienced Correctional Health Nurses to perform varied professional nursing duties with primary emphasis on professional nursing care for inmates within a locked correctional facility; treat and educate patients about various medical conditions; record medical histories and symptoms; perform diagnostic tests and analyze results; operate medical machinery; administer treatment and medications to over 100 patients in an 8-hour shift; assist with patient follow-up and rehabilitation; and perform other duties as assigned and required. Correctional facilities include the Maguire and Maple Street Correctional Centers (Redwood City) and Youth Services Center (San Mateo).

Under general direction, Correctional Health Nurses are fully competent to independently perform a full range of professional nursing duties and procedures requiring one to exercise a high degree clinical judgment. Incumbents also provide lead direction to other nursing and paraprofessional personnel.

 

Correctional Health Services provides integrated medical, dental, mental health, and chemical dependency treatment to the incarcerated adult population, as well as medical and dental care to the juvenile hall population of San Mateo County, as described below:

• Medical services include health screening, treatment, education, and 24-hour emergency response for adults.
• Clinic appointments are available by referral and upon request and include chronic care for hypertension, diabetes, asthma, and HIV, as well as obstetric, orthopedic, and urgent care.
• Dental services include treatment and medication for urgent dental conditions and extractions for adults and juveniles.
• Mental health services include crisis intervention, evaluation, treatment, psychiatric medication, behavior management, and continuing care referrals.
• Day treatment services are provided to mentally ill men and women in the Life Skills Program at the Maguire and Maple Street Correctional Centers.
• CHS also provides weekly group therapy; cognitive behavioral approach to addiction and recovery; and re-entry services for those transitioning back into the community.

 

The ideal candidates:

Will be well-rounded and will have knowledge of Correctional Health and Mental Health nursing; Emergency Room or ICU experience; or a strong Medical/Surgical and Telemetry foundation. OB/GYN, pediatric experience and psychiatric care experience are also ideal, but not required. Candidates must be able to administer medications to over 100 patients within an 8- hour shift, in a locked correctional facility and on weekends.

 

Examples Of Duties

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Administer treatment and medications to over 100 patients within an 8-hour shift.
• Complete patient assessments and triage, as well as record patient histories, symptoms, and observations.
• Establish and implement nursing care plans for each patient through assessment, development, activation, and evaluation.
• Participate in patient case conferences and rounds.
• Organize, assign, and supervise duties and responsibilities of other staff members as a team leader.
• Orient and teach new staff members of the nursing team and students.
• Perform nursing care following prescribed rules, policies, protocol, and procedures.
• Identify problems, assist in data gathering, propose solutions and participate in evaluation of quality assurance issues.
• Work with patients and their families to provide in-hospital and after-hospital follow-up through teaching and referral.

• Participate in non-clinical assignments, which may include maintaining records, preparing reports, and/or serving on special committees.
• Maintain records and prepare reports.

• Develop discharge plans for patients.
• Perform related duties as assigned and as required by assigned work setting, as described below.

 

Duties for nurses in this series may also include the following:

• Perform professional nursing duties within a locked correctional facility.
• Check vital signs; give injections; perform catheterizations, IZ Registry, Point of Care Testing; and draw blood for medical purposes.
• Start, maintain, and discontinue intravenous lines.
• Monitor patient rehabilitation.
• Perform mental status exams and implement plan of care based on assessment findings.
• Monitor and document on patients in restraint and seclusion while maintaining patient safety.
• Determine medical or psychiatric emergency need and provide intervention.
• Recognize symptoms of major psychiatric diagnosis.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Licensure/Certification:

Possession of a California license as a Registered Nurse or equivalent and a valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
