The City of San Mateo is currently taking applications for the position of Dispatcher I. 

This is a continuous recruitment.  Applicants are added to the employment list as they meet the minimum qualifications. 

Experience and Education Guidelines:

Experience:

Some telephone or dispatch experience is highly desirable.

Education:

Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.

License or Certificate:

Verification of successful completion of the P.O.S.T. Entry-Level Dispatcher Selection Test Battery Examination with a minimum passing "T-Score" of 48 or higher or verification of successful completion of a CritiCall Examination with a minimum passing score of 50 or higher. 

Possession of, or ability to attain, a POST (Peace Officer Standards & Training) Written Examination Certificate

Currently Dispatcher’s hours are scheduled under the 4-10 work schedule.  Employees work ten hours per day, four days per week and shift work is required.  Work schedules will vary and overtime may be required.

The Department: 
The Finance Department administers the financial affairs of the City of Santa Clara, including City-owned public utilities. The department is comprised of five divisions, Administrative Services, Budget and Treasury, Accounting, Municipal Services, and Purchasing. Together these divisions carry out the mission of the Finance Department to ensure that the financial/fiscal activities of the City are performed, recorded, and presented in compliance with professional and ethical standards.  
 
The Position: 
Positions in this class are flexibly staffed, and are frequently filled by advancement from the Accounting Technician I class, or when filled through recruitment, require additional experience.  The appointing authority will approve appointment or promotion based on the employee's demonstrated ability to perform the full range of duties for the class and meet the qualification standards for the class.  Incumbents within this class are distinguished from the Accounting Technician I by exhibiting a higher level of judgment and independence in performing the full range of duties as assigned.

Accounts Payable:
 Under supervision
 • Reviews payment requests from departments for compliance with City internal control policies including contract management requirements;
 • Reviews invoices to determine appropriate coding for sales & use tax;
 • Enters accounts payable  vouchers online and verify input against source documents;
 • Enters and loads spreadsheet vouchers;
 • Works with City staff to accurately process Purchase Card transactions;
 • Provides assistance to staff in using the Insurance certificate tracking system;
 • Works closely with vendors, payers, employees, and other agencies;
 • Reviews the documentation submitted by operating departments for compliance and correct GL account coding and recommends corrective action;
 • Uses computer applications, including electronic spreadsheets and word processing software, prepares reports, memos, and supporting documentation;
 • Maintains accurate paper and electronic documentation, including files;
 • Sorts, indexes, and files materials, using a variety of standard filing methods ;and

Payroll:
 Under supervision
 • Enters payroll transactions online and verifies input against the source documents;
 • Accurately follows established business process documentation;
 • Using queries and reports, reviews transactions for compliance with City policies, procedures and Memoranda of Understanding;
 • Works with City employees and departments, as well as other outside City contacts;
 • Analyze original documents and determine system entries needed;
 • Reconciles employee deductions to the GL;
 • Processes levies and judgments in accordance with laws and regulations;
 • Uses queries and computer applications to maintain control totals of base salaries City wide and balance salaries to payroll on a biweekly basis;
 • Using computer applications, including electronic spreadsheets and word processing software, reconciles biweekly or monthly benefits and deductions and prepares reports, memos, supporting documentation and payment requests;
 • Maintains accurate paper and electronic documentation, including files;
 • Sorts, indexes, and files materials, using a variety of standard filing methods; and
 • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience: 
• Graduation from high school or possession of a GED; and
 • Completion of thirty (30) semester units or forty-five (45) quarter units from an accredited college or university including at least six (6) semester or nine (9) quarter units, which must be in Accounting or Bookkeeping; and
 • Two (2) years of work experience in Finance/Accounting (accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, or general accounting); and
 • Experience with  electronic spreadsheet and word processing programs; and
 • Experience with on-line financial and/or payroll systems; and
 • Ten-key by touch.

Desirable Qualifications:
 • Experience with PeopleSoft Financial or Human Resources/Payroll Systems.

Possible Substitutions:
 • Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on the basis of one (1) year of experience for fifteen (15) semester units.   (There is no substitution allowed for the requirement for six (6) semester or nine (9) quarter units in Accounting and Bookkeeping.)

Licenses:
 Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license is desirable.

About the Position 

The City of Fremont's Finance Department is seeking a full-time Accounting Specialist I/II that will support the Revenue function. The incumbent will provide a variety of customer service, financial and accounting duties in the preparation, maintenance and processing of accounting records and financial transactions. Pioneer Community Energy Seeks a 
Senior Manager, Quantitative Analysis and Modeling

The Senior Manager, Quantitative Analysis and Modeling is responsible for organizing, assigning, reviewing and participating in the work of personnel engaged in professional duties related to analysis and modeling, structured product development, portfolio risk management, and integrated resource planning. Duties include:

• Planning, prioritizing, reviewing and participating in the performance of professional analysis and modeling of risk and value around complex transactions and portfolio positions, including structured products, rate analysis and development, and hedging strategies.
• Developing methods and schedules to accomplish assignments, ensuring work is completed in a timely and accurate manner.
• Developing pricing and calibration models for a variety of products.
• Solving challenging quantitative problems related to setting rates and valuations for structured products.
• Developing Monte-Carlo simulations on a large scale across several variables with relevant coefficients.

The Finance Department is recruiting for Management Analyst I/II (Budget and Treasury).

The Department

The Finance Department functions include budgeting, revenue collection, debt management, purchasing, cash management and investment, disbursements, accounting, and financial reporting. Budget activities include coordinating and producing the annual budget document, monitoring revenue and expenditure performance, preparing mid-year and year-end budget presentations to the City Council, evaluating the effects of budget changes on service levels, assisting departments with business planning, and supporting citywide economic development projects. The Position

The Management Analyst I/II position is responsible for performing varied technical, professional administrative and analytical duties in support of a broad range of the City Manager's Office's operations.

The incumbent in this assignment will support cross-departmental projects, administer assigned programs, perform research, provide budgetary analysis and serve as a liaison with the Mayor and City Council Members. Participation in communications activities, including marketing and social media use will also be a responsibility for this position.

The City of San Bruno is currently accepting applications for Public Safety Dispatcher, Per Diem candidates. 

The Position 

The San Bruno Police Department is recruiting for Public Safety Dispatchers. The San Bruno Police Department has a long-standing tradition of small-town service with big-city dedication to public safety.  Public Safety Dispatchers are responsible for public safety dispatch and related records management activities. This position operates on a 24-hour, 365 days per year basis, and may be assigned to either a day, swing, or graveyard shift on a regular, rotational basis that includes nights, weekends, and holidays.  Public Safety Dispatchers perform a wide range of duties involving radio, telephone, and computers, applying various procedures and codes. Dispatchers receive and transmit emergency and non-emergency telephone and radio traffic as well as process communication reports, records, and radio logs, while maintaining a high level of confidentiality.  Dispatchers may also support the Police Department by performing clerical tasks, training, assisting with fingerprinting, and being accountable for financial transactions.  This position is integral in supporting the goals and objectives of the City and Police Department.   

Essential Duties 

• Receives and transmits emergency telephone and radio traffic.   

• Maintains and processes a variety of communications reports, records and radio logs. 

• Operates a dispatch console, uses Computer Aided Dispatch (C.A.D.) System and other computer programs to process information and records. 

• Maintains a high level of confidentiality. 

• Performs collateral duties including a variety of related clerical tasks: assisting in preparation of work schedules; training and evaluating performance of new employees; conducting training sessions; assisting in fingerprinting and jail operations, which may include searching prisoners; and is accountable for handling cash, bond, and check transactions.  

• Plans, organizes, and directs dispatching and related activities on an assigned shift. This may include preparing schedules and prioritizing work; observing work performed by Dispatcher I employees to ensure compliance with standards; approving time off; conducting employee evaluations; and providing effective recommendations on personnel matters. 

• Prepares and maintains training and procedure manuals.  As required, prepares special reports, and undertakes projects for Management Staff.  

• May act as Records/Dispatcher Supervisor in their absence. 

• Maintains liaison with other Department Divisions, City Departments, and other law enforcement and emergency response agencies. 

• Maintains various C.A.D and Record Management Files. 

• Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications 

 Must be able to pass an extensive background investigation. 

Education 

• Possession of a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Additional related college course work or degree preferred. 

Experience 

• Completion of a probationary period in a public safety agency. 

Certificates and Licenses 

• Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver’s License, Class C with a good driving record. 

• Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Basic Dispatch Certificate is required.  

Special Requirements 

• Possess excellent vision and hearing skills, with ability to sit, talk, type, hear, and walk for extended periods of time as well as lift or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
