The Position

The Community Development Project Coordinator (CDPC) acts as a project leader in the City's community development program activities. This position is responsible for coordinating various phases of projects and implementing activities of economic development and housing. Duties include handling requests for grant funding, contract compliance matters, operations support, data analysis, and development and administration of policies, procedures, and budgets.

The Departments

Health, Housing & Community Services

• In Affordable Housing Programs, the CDPC provides project leadership and implements a variety of programs related to affordable housing development, rehabilitation, program administration, and policy development and implementation. Candidates will have significant interaction with housing developers, owners, managers, tenants and applicants. Ideal candidates will have a solid understanding of affordable housing financing and/or housing policies and programs, resourcefulness in responding to challenges, and proficiency in drafting, negotiating and executing the mechanisms for ensuring the community's interests. 

• In Labor Standards and Employment Programs, the CDPC works to ensure the City is in compliance with relevant local and federal ordinances/regulations. The Berkeley Municipal Code (BMC) contains several locally adopted labor and employment programs. The City is also an entitlement jurisdiction, and receives an annual funding awards from the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). 

Public Works

• In Real Property Services, the CDPC provides lead direction to staff, advises City Management on program implications of operational or financial activity, and makes recommendations regarding areas such as project restructuring, funding alternatives, and cost analysis. Incumbents have considerable latitude to exercise independent judgment, particularly when representing the City Manager or department in meetings with other agencies, boards and commissions and community groups.

• In Electric Mobility, the CDPC leads the City's efforts to fulfill the Berkeley Electric Mobility Roadmap. This plan aims to create a fossil-free transportation system that integrates with and supports the City’s ongoing efforts to increase walking, biking, and public transportation use in the City, and ensures equitable and affordable access to the benefits of clean transportation. Incumbents will organize the Electric Mobility Implementation Working Group, manage the development of City-owned electric vehicle charging infrastructure, track and develop programs utilizing emerging mobility options, and catalyze actions such as pilot projects and new best practices.

City Manager 

• In the ​​​Office of Economic Development, the CDPC provides assistance to new and growing businesses in Berkeley and the business district organizations that represent them. They will perform a range of economic data analysis, prepare reports and presentations for the City Manager, City Council, and various boards and commissions, manage Berkeley's Revolving Loan Fund, and manage contracts with one or more Berkeley Business Improvement Districts (BIDs). Incumbents will also act as liaison with various district-based business organizations to help them promote and develop their districts, build local capacity and promote positive neighborhood economic development outcomes. They will advise businesses seeking to grow in or relocate to Berkeley and link them with property owners, brokers and other sources of business assistance. 

Required Qualifications

Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college with major coursework in business, planning, or public administration or a closely related field.

AND

Four (4) years of professional project management experience in community development, such as housing, economic development, public works, or planning. Lead and/or supervisory experience is desirable.

A master's degree in a related program is desirable and can be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: A valid California driver's license is desirable. Must be able to attend evening meetings.

The City of Berkeley is seeking PE-licensed candidates who are passionate about improving infrastructure for a more sustainable and resilient city. As an Associate Civil Engineer, you will function as a project leader for Capital Projects with an emphasis on engineering design.

Located in the Public Works Department and the Parks, Recreation & Waterfront Department, capital improvement teams are responsible for coordinating with stakeholders and managing contracts to get projects ready for bidding and construction. Within the Civil Engineer series, Associate level engineers prepare the more difficult and complex specifications, drawings, legal descriptions and cost estimates.

Minimum Qualifications

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is:
Equivalent to graduation from a four year college or university with major coursework in civil engineering and three (3) years of professional engineering experience in design and construction work at a level equivalent to the Assistant Civil Engineer classification.

Progressively responsible related experience may be substituted for the college coursework on a year-for-year basis.

Other requirements include possession of a valid California Registration as a professional Civil Engineer and possession of a valid California driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.

The City of San Bruno is currently accepting applications for Public Safety Dispatcher, Per Diem candidates. 

The Position 

The San Bruno Police Department is recruiting for Public Safety Dispatchers. The San Bruno Police Department has a long-standing tradition of small-town service with big-city dedication to public safety.  Public Safety Dispatchers are responsible for public safety dispatch and related records management activities. This position operates on a 24-hour, 365 days per year basis, and may be assigned to either a day, swing, or graveyard shift on a regular, rotational basis that includes nights, weekends, and holidays.  Public Safety Dispatchers perform a wide range of duties involving radio, telephone, and computers, applying various procedures and codes. Dispatchers receive and transmit emergency and non-emergency telephone and radio traffic as well as process communication reports, records, and radio logs, while maintaining a high level of confidentiality.  Dispatchers may also support the Police Department by performing clerical tasks, training, assisting with fingerprinting, and being accountable for financial transactions.  This position is integral in supporting the goals and objectives of the City and Police Department.   

Essential Duties 

• Receives and transmits emergency telephone and radio traffic.   

• Maintains and processes a variety of communications reports, records and radio logs. 

• Operates a dispatch console, uses Computer Aided Dispatch (C.A.D.) System and other computer programs to process information and records.

• Prepares and maintains training and procedure manuals.  As required, prepares special reports, and undertakes projects for Management Staff.  

• May act as Records/Dispatcher Supervisor in their absence.

• Maintains various C.A.D and Record Management Files.

Extra Help - Extra-help positions are short-term employment for up to 1040 hours which is equivalent to about six months; however, employment might end sooner depending on the needs of the hiring departments. Medical Services Assistants II who are assigned to the clinics and perform advanced patient care duties as defined in the classification specification shall receive a differential of 6.2% in addition to all other compensation.

• Accurately take and record the condition, respiration, pulse, temperature and blood pressure of patients; record other pertinent information as observed or measured.

Certification Requirement:

DEFINITION

Under general direction, to supervise and review the work of the professional and technical staff of a section of the Engineering Division engaged in preparing and/or reviewing plans, specifications, designs, estimates, and inspections relating to capital improvement, construction, development, and maintenance projects; to coordinate the work of the section with that of the Engineering Division and the Public Works Department; and to perform complex engineering design, construction inspection, contract administration, and related work as assigned.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

improvements; legal issues, including liability laws, relating to municipal construction and civil engineering.

Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or closely related field.

Experience:  Five years of increasingly responsible experience in design and construction management of civil engineering projects, with at least two of the five years at a level equivalent to a City of Daly City Civil Engineering Associate.

License: California registration as a professional Civil Engineer and a valid Class C California Driver's License.

The City of San Jose, Animal Care and Services Division is seeking two (2) full-time Animal Shelter Veterinarians and multiple part-time Animal Shelter Veterinarians to work at the Animal Care Center. The Animal Shelter Veterinarian may perform all aspects of shelter medicine in a large animal shelter. Duties may include routine spay/neuter surgeries on cats, dogs, and other animals as indicated. This position provides direct care and treatment of homeless animals entering the City of San Jose’s Animal Care Center.

In addition, this position is required to diagnose, treat, and/or recommend euthanasia. Registered Veterinary Technicians will be assigned to assist this position with the preparation and post-surgery processes of spay/neuter and other surgical procedures. 

The full-time benefited position and part-time unbenefited positions will be reporting to the Medical Services Director (Division Manager) of Animal Care and Services. This classification is represented by City Association of Management Personnel (CAMP).

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Directs, coordinates and performs the screening, diagnosis, and basic and emergency medical treatment of animals in the shelter.
• Performs or supervises the visual monitoring of impounded animals, including those that may be isolated or quarantined for signs of illness or unusual behavior.
• Performs surgical procedures, including spay/neuters and vaccinates animals to prevent diseases.
• Maintains accurate medical records of animals.
• Effectively communicates the condition and status of animals with shelter staff to allow shelter staff to communicate with public.

• Orders, maintains and controls the drugs used at the shelter and in the field.
• Trains appropriate staff in administering first aide and vaccinations to animals, the performance of euthanasia and other paramedical duties.
• Performs and directs staff to perform euthanasia of animals that are irremediably suffering from serious illness or severe injury, as necessary
• Ensures that shelter staff participates in a comprehensive disease prevention program for the animal shelter.
• Participates in special spay/neuter or vaccination clinics.
• Supervises staff to include: prioritizing and assigning work; providing technical guidance to staff; ensuring staff are trained; and making hiring, termination and disciplinary recommendations.
• Ensures compliance of activities to codes and all legal regulations.

Physical Requirements 
 
Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects up to 50 pounds while handling animals and equipment. Employees may be exposed to cold and hot temperatures, loud noises, odors, dust, air contaminants, blood borne pathogens while using hypodermic needles on animals and may be exposed to animal scratches and bites.

THE POSITION

Tri-City is looking for one (1) individual to serve as a Psychiatrist I/II for the Adult Outpatient Clinic. The Psychiatrist I/II will provide medical and psychiatric treatment and diagnostic services to clients in the caseload of Tri-City and provide collaborative work with a multidisciplinary team in a public mental health agency. Provide integrated, effective, and high quality behavioral health care to the residents of Pomona, Claremont and La Verne with moderate to severe functional impairment due to mental illness.

This position is responsible for a variety of ongoing responsibilities including, but not limited to:

• Perform intake and diagnostic interviews on a scheduled and emergent basis.
• Participate in diagnostic staff evaluation of clients.
• Provide medical psychiatric treatment of clients.

THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Public Works and Utilities is comprised of six divisions that work collaboratively to develop, build, operate, and maintain Hayward's infrastructure. The Department is responsible for providing engineering and transportation support to City operating departments and divisions and for implementation of the City's Capital Improvement Program, all while providing excellent customer service to the community.  

DEFINITION
To inspect a variety of public works projects funded by federal, state, and municipal funds and inspection of both public and private improvements in new subdivisions to ensure compliance with plans and specifications, schedule, and safety regulations during their construction. Projects include those involving federal and municipal funds and both public and private improvements in new subdivisions.

Makes field inspections of a variety of public works projects including streets, roads, airport runways and taxiways, grade separations, curbs and gutters, sanitary sewers, storm drains, water lines, public buildings and structures, airport facilities, reservoirs, and new facilities for Water Pollution Control Facility (WPCF).

Evaluates the quality of construction and of materials used in construction, to insure compliance with plans and specifications.

Requests and interprets results of soils, materials, and operational tests, including compaction test reports.

Performs contract administration duties including preparation of daily construction reports, weekly statement of working days, change orders, progress payments, general correspondence, and checking payroll records, material submittals, and certificates of compliance.

Writes letters to contractors, and initiates change orders concerning the contract.

Collects and reviews contractor payroll records to ensure compliance with state and federal wage rate laws.

Conducts employee interviews relative to federal requirements.

Write daily construction reports.

Estimates the cost of materials and labor necessary to complete new or unanticipated work.

Prepares progress payments to contractors and prepares reports relative to completed work.

Interprets and explains plans and specifications to the general public.

Responds to questions and complaints from the general public related to construction activities.

Enforces storm water pollution prevention program (SWPPP), Private and Public developments and makes reports for the Alameda Countywide Clean Water Program.

 Knowledge of:

• Materials and methods used in the construction of a variety of public works projects including public streets, curbs and gutters, sanitary sewers, storm drains and domestic water lines.
• Public buildings, airport paving, sidewalks and accessible curb ramps, mass grading, concrete structures, streetlights and traffic signals, landscaping, and C.3 Storm Water Controls.
• Trenching and shoring.
• Basic soils engineering principles.

Ability to:

• Estimate and calculate amounts and costs of materials used in constructions.
• Evaluate quality of construction.
• Evaluate quality of materials used in construction.
• Work effectively with others while enforcing provisions of construction contracts.
• Prepare accurate written reports.

Experience: Two years of experience as a public works construction inspector or three (3) years of experience similar to that of a soil technician with public works field inspection responsibilities, or similarly responsible experience in public works construction, including work in any of the following areas: grading and paving, underground utilities, forming and pouring concrete structures. It is desirable to be familiar with CALTRANS specifications, procedures and standards.
 
Education: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade.
 
License and Certificates: Possess and maintain a valid Class C California Driver's
License.
