The City of Sunnyvale is seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of Senior Water Pollution Control Operator. The ideal candidates will have a journeyman level understanding of Wastewater Treatment and the associated equipment and controls required to operate those systems. The Sunnyvale Water Pollution Control Plant is a Class V Wastewater Treatment Facility with Recycled Water production.
The Sunnyvale Water Pollution Control Plant is undergoing an exciting transition, we are replacing original processes, structures and equipment with the latest treatment technologies and we would like you to be part of that upgrade.  The SWPCP is currently constructing new Screening, Pumping, Grit Removal, Sedimentation, Odor Control, Power Distribution and SCADA system as the first major replacement effort.  The Plant is also in design for a new Secondary Treatment process with Dewatering and Thickening to carry the city forward in our on-going effort to protect the bay and provide high quality Recycled Water.

The Senior Water Pollution Control (WPC) Operator provides support for their team members on an assigned shift. The Senior WPC Operator, as the shift supervisor oversees the operation, inspection and maintenance of the treatment process, plant equipment and facilities.  The Senior WPC Operator is a reliable communicator that prioritizes tasks and ensures that Operators, Maintenance, and other team members work in a safe and productive environment.

The minimum qualifications for education and experience can be met in the following way:

Graduation from high school or tested equivalent, and

Three years of experience in the operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant.

Possession and continued maintenance of a valid class C California driver's license and a safe driving record and possession of a valid Grade III Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators Certificate issued by the California State Water Quality Control Board is required for this position.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, the Police Officer performs a variety of law enforcement, crime prevention, and public service duties; controls traffic flow, enforces State and local traffic regulations; and performs additional related tasks as assigned. This position will serve the public in traffic enforcement, patrol operations, and community-oriented policing assignments. Specialty assignments include Investigative Services, Auto Theft, School Resource Officer, Motorcycle Officer, SWAT, Hostage Negotiations, Tactical Response, and K-9 Officer positions. 

The Police Officer position may be filled by an entry-level applicant. Entry Level applicants will be sent to a POST-approved academy upon appointment and enter into the field training program immediately upon graduation from a POST-approved academy.  

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• KNOWLEDGE OF:

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
The salary range for this position ranges from $109,308.45 up to $132,865.10 annually. Placement within the range will be DOE. This is a full-time, non-exempt position represented by the Los Altos Peace Officer’s Association.

The Department

The Community Development Department provides community planning, engineering, code enforcement, and building permit and inspection services. Using the City's General Plan and zoning and subdivision ordinances, the Department acts as the steward of the community by assisting the public through mandated development project reviews, the subdivision of land, and related public improvement plans.
 
To safeguard life, health, property, and the public welfare, the Department is also responsible for ensuring that buildings and public improvements are designed and constructed according to established standards and governing regulations. The Position & Responsibilities

- Performs inspections, plan check, and related duties in the specialized field of mechanical building inspections.

The Information Technology Department is seeking a Usability and Accessibility Senior Analyst to be part of the City’s two-year program to expand San José 311 feature development, customer experience, and geographic equity. The Senior Analyst will lead and perform usability and accessibility work on digital service delivery analysis and/or improvement. This position will play a key role in ensuring new services are developed in a way that bridges access, language, and ease of use barriers experienced disproportionately by underserved portions of our community. The City of San Jose is recruiting for a part-time School Crossing Guards in the Police Department during the normal school year.  Work involves providing for the safe conduct of elementary and junior high school children across heavily traveled streets and reporting problems requiring possible police action. Positions may involve substituting at different corners or a regular location assignment.  IN GENERAL, THESE ASSIGNMENTS ARE A SPLIT SHIFT WITH APPROXIMATELY 10 HOURS PER WEEK.  School Crossing Guards are required to work outside regardless of weather conditions and must be able to provide a uniform as specified by the Police Department.   Work includes outside duties and exposure to weather.  Work may include the physical ability to sit, stand, walk quickly, step up/down from the curb, reach, push and/or pull, twist and or rotate, bend, lift and carry up to 10 pounds, use hands hold and use a stop sign the entire shift, use other hand to stop traffic and use a whistle at the same.

• Working knowledge of content migration tools such as SharePoint, AvePoint, Sharegate is a desirable.

The City of San José’s Information Technology Department is seeking a Senior SharePoint Administrator responsible for design and implementation of Microsoft's collaboration platform within organization. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical experience to design and provide sophisticated solutions utilizing Microsoft SharePoint platform, ensure SharePoint deployment, and support services delivery at an enterprise level.  

Duties may include but are not limited to: 

• Developing strategy, roadmap, and feature enhancements for a City-wide enterprise content management and records management solution.  
• Defining Physical Architecture, Logical Architecture, and Capacity Planning and making sure the environment is scalable. 
• Developing site Information Architecture plan and administering best practices and governance procedures for SharePoint Online sites. 
• Defining the Information Architecture and Taxonomy and clearly defining Taxonomy Term Store for the whole Enterprise. 
• Implementing best practices and Governance procedures for SharePoint custom solutions.  
• Creating access control policies/plans for SharePoint Online 
• Participating in Architectural Peer Review activities with other groups such as Database Administration (DBA), Active Directory (AD), Network and Security teams, to ensure that there is no point of failure. 
• Leading functional migration and modernization of SharePoint solutions. 
• Leading and facilitating information gathering sessions to validate business cases. 
• Gathering and documenting business and functional objectives.

• Defining and enforcing security rules at the farm and site collection levels.  
• Knowledge of project methodologies (Waterfall, Agile) is desirable. 
• Responsible for mentoring SharePoint development and support team.

THE POSITION:

Under direct supervision, the Police Officer Trainee attends a Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T) approved Police Basic Recruit Academy and successfully completes the academic and physical training required for appointment to the classification of Police Officer Recruit II. Police Officer Trainees are considered at-will employees. Police officer probationary status begins when the trainee is sworn in as a Police Officer Recruit II after completion of the police academy.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Duties may include but are not limited to the following:

• Participate in a P.O.S.T certified police academy designed to provide an overview of the criminal justice system including knowledge of laws, police procedures, law enforcement techniques, first aid and physical fitness.
• Receives training to develop an awareness of Police Department functions, as well as the responsibilities of Police Officers and how those responsibilities relate to field operations.
• Receives academy and field training to become a Police Officer.
• Learns proper handling and firing of firearms, report writing and emergency vehicle operation. 
• Develops an understanding and working knowledge of the California Penal, Vehicle, Health and Safety Codes. 
• Develops an understanding of proper evidence collection and preservation methods.
