The total salary range for the Senior Wastewater Facility Engineer is $144,362.40 - $182,735.28 Annually. This amount includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable pay. While final salary will be determined based on a selected candidate's qualifications, due to the specialized nature of these positions, salary offers will likely be in the top third of the Senior Wastewater Facility Engineer salary range.

ESD is seeking to fill multiple Senior Wastewater Facility Engineer positions in support of the RWF CIP division. The Senior Wastewater Facility Engineer position is a management classification, reporting to a Principal Wastewater Facility Engineer.

This position will work closely with the Program Management Consultant (PMC) and Operations and Maintenance (O&M) staff in an integrated Program Management Office (PMO) to deliver a wide variety of capital improvement projects at the RWF.

The Senior Wastewater Facility Engineer will serve as a Project Manager through all phases of capital project delivery from project initiation to feasibility development, design, bid and award, construction, testing, start-up and commissioning and post construction for his/her assigned project(s).

Responsibilities may include preparing consultant procurement documents (RFQs/RFPs); conducting contract negotiations and administration; directing the preparation and approval of project deliverables prepared by Consultants (i.e. condition assessment reports, alternative analysis reports, conceptual design reports, preliminary design reports, detail design drawings, specifications, permit documents, and construction estimates); preparing Council memos and presentations for contract award.

The Senior Wastewater Facility Engineer will also participate in resource planning, staff recruitment and development.  They will be responsible for hiring, training, developing, managing, and supervising professional engineering and technical support staff. 

Projects planned in the coming years include potentially  Primary Clarifier Rehabilitation, Secondary Clarifiers Rehabilitation, Aeration Basin Modifications, New Disinfection Facilities, Final Effluent Pump Station, Additional Anaerobic Digester Upgrades, and Yard Piping Improvements.

The Information Technology Department houses a team of customer-centric technicians and engineers to support the use of technology by City employees and the public. • Designing and overseeing implementation for newly introduced client service project initiatives and ensuring operationalization transitions to the IT Tier-1 support.

The City of Berkeley is seeking PE-licensed candidates who are passionate about improving infrastructure for a more sustainable and resilient city. As an Associate Civil Engineer, you will function as a project leader for Capital Projects with an emphasis on engineering design.

Located in the Public Works Department and the Parks, Recreation & Waterfront Department, capital improvement teams are responsible for coordinating with stakeholders and managing contracts to get projects ready for bidding and construction. Within the Civil Engineer series, Associate level engineers prepare the more difficult and complex specifications, drawings, legal descriptions and cost estimates.

Minimum Qualifications

Equivalent to graduation from a four year college or university with major coursework in civil engineering and three (3) years of professional engineering experience in design and construction work at a level equivalent to the Assistant Civil Engineer classification.

  Position & Duties

Encampment management services include weekly trash services and abatement activities to ensure that locations and conditions of encampments are cooperative and complying.  

Community Activity Worker job duties for BeautifySJ are focused on providing direct support to address litter/trash related blight in neighborhoods, waterways, and/or encampments.  Duties include setting up, planning and attending resource fairs and neighborhood-based outreach events (e.g. “dumpster days”), developing working relationships with schools, volunteers, internal and external stakeholders and non-profit partners. Community Activity Workers in Project Hope build strong relationships with residents, partners and community. Assist  neighborhood associations/board members with planning for meetings and events. DEFINITION

Under general direction, to supervise and review the work of the professional and technical staff of a section of the Engineering Division engaged in preparing and/or reviewing plans, specifications, designs, estimates, and inspections relating to capital improvement, construction, development, and maintenance projects; to coordinate the work of the section with that of the Engineering Division and the Public Works Department; and to perform complex engineering design, construction inspection, contract administration, and related work as assigned.

2. Proactively monitor technology solutions and plan for system roadmaps that will benefit the City's ability to provide services in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.
3. Manage and develop the skills and competency of the Information Technology Department staff based on current needs as well as emerging technologies or business strategies needed to support all work initiatives.
4. In partnership with City departments, provide executive leadership through strategic goals, objectives, and high-level requirements executed with departments. 
5. Direct the allocation of resources to achieve timely outcomes and measurable goals within budget; recommend IT spending and participate in collaborative resource planning processes to ensure high-quality services at the lowest cost to the organization.

• 5+ years of successful experience managing human resources/payroll, financials, and budget systems to successful outcomes.
• 5+ years of successful experience managing enterprise data and integration services to successful outcomes.

Experience within the last 5 years is highly desirable on the following:

• Direct management responsibility overseeing SharePoint as enterprise content management, intranet, and eDiscovery solutions.
• Direct management responsibility overseeing and implementing enterprise applications, business process automation, and workflow solutions.
• Direct management responsibility over application development for Commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) and development teams.
• Direct responsibility for and success in attainment of (1) high customer satisfaction, (2) reliability, (3) performance, and (4) project success rates in large enterprise environments (internal support base of >2,000 customers.
• Strong product and project management experience and proven results, preferably including use of both agile and traditional approaches.
• Expert personnel management skills, including staff development, coaching, evaluation, and hiring.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and conflict resolution skills, as well as high emotional intelligence.
• Implementation of change and release management processes and business architecture that yield a high degree of business alignment.
