About the City of Larkspur
Larkspur was incorporated in 1908. The population has ranged between 11,500 and 12,800 for 40 years.
The housing stock is approximately ½ single family and ½ multi family. Housing costs are high, turnover is low and property values have remained fairly constant.

Larkspur is one of the most active transportation junctures in the region – pedestrians, cyclists, ferry and bus riders, motorists and a future commuter train terminus are already or will be accommodated in the community. The community is topographically diverse with hillside canyons and forested areas and flatter bayside filled areas. The Corte Madera Creek splits the community north to south, and Highway 101 divides it east to west. Larkspur’s charming and walkable downtown is on the National Register of Historic Places. There are five defined commercial/retail areas that provide a wide range of services and a stable sales tax base.

Larkspur’s mission focuses on customer service, preservation of its historic character and maintenance of
its environmental balance.
