Description

The City of Redwood City invites applications for the volunteer position of Reserve Police Officer. The Redwood City Police Department offers many opportunities for learning and long-term career growth in a city comprised of diverse residential and business communities. The objective for every Redwood City Officer is to protect life and property, proactively reduce crime and the fear of crime through the use of data-driven policing models, with an overarching operational philosophy of community policing as part of their mission to maintain a safe and connected community. The Redwood City Police Department is looking for volunteers who strive to provide “excellent service with integrity and respect”.  Reserve Police Officers work on a voluntary basis, serving a minimum of 20 hours per month.  The Redwood City Police Department is seeking applicants who demonstrate the drive, desire and ability to function as a Reserve Police Officer with minimal supervision. Reserve Officers will work under the direct supervision of a Police Supervisor, Field Training Officer or full time Police Officer. Exceptional candidates (with P.O.S.T. Level One certification) may be given the opportunity to function as a solo officer in certain incidences.
