About the Position
This position works as an onsite manager of the weekly San Carlos Farmers Market. Work hours are Sundays, 7:00am to 3:00pm. This position will rotate Sundays with other Recreation Leaders. Receives general supervision from a full-time Recreation Department staff member.
- Assist Public Works and the Sheriff’s Department with opening/closing/securing the site
- Chalk and number vendor spaces according to a prepared map, but able to quickly adjust onsite as needed.
- Set up and break down the market, including but not limited to required signage, restrooms, entertainment area, informational booth, and garbage placement.
- Assure all COVID and other safety and sanitation measures are in place site-wide as required, including assuring restrooms are clean and stocked.
- Assure the market area is swept and debris-free before re-opening.

Implement program plans; work with minimal supervision. Establish, maintain and foster cooperative working relations with others contacted in the course of work. Able to maintain calm, handle details, and multi-task in a busy environment.
Education and Training
Sufficient education and experience to satisfactorily perform the duties of this classification. A typical qualifying background would be graduation from high school, and 500 hours experience as either a Recreation Leader I at the City of San Carlos or 500 hours at an equivalent classification in another municipality, or equivalent experience in a comparable setting.
Speak clearly and understandably; lift and move equipment, such as canopies, tables and chairs;
Licenses and Certifications
Possession of an appropriate California driver's license, or California I.D. issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles is desired.
