The City of San Dimas Parks and Recreation Department offers a basketball league for youth ages 8-14 that emphasizes teaching fundamentals, sportsmanship, teamwork and fun. The program runs from December until March. Coaches must be available for practices two days per week scheduled between the hours of 2:45 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. and games Saturdays, 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (all times approximate). Additional hours for trainings and meetings as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Responsible for planning, organizing and supervising basketball practices.
- Responsible for the general safety and well-being of the children of the assigned team.

ABOUT THE CITY
The City of San Dimas is located midway (about 27 miles) between Los Angeles and San Bernardino at the base of the San Gabriel Mountains. Superior access to freeways offers a centralized location from which to enjoy southern California’s many excellent cultural and recreational activities.
San Dimas was incorporated in 1960 with a Council-Manager form of government. Its citizens receive a full range of services through the combined efforts of the City’s five departments (City Manager’s Office, Administrative Services, Parks & Recreation, Public Works and Development Services) and the contract services of Los Angeles County.
Previous coaching experience and the ability to instruct and work with children are preferred. Knowledge of the rules and regulations of basketball is helpful. Minimum of graduation from high school or the equivalent and any combination of experience and education that could likely provide the desired knowledge and abilities.
