Full-Time (37.5 hours per week)/No Benefits

The City of San Rafael is hiring for the temporary position of Facilities Repair Worker in the Public Works Department. This is a full-time temporary position working 37.5 hours per week under general supervision. Duties include, but are not limited to: performs carpentry, plumbing, interior remodeling, painting, and a variety of other work in the maintenance and repair of City buildings, structures and facilities.
Ability to use and operate basic hand and power tools. Ability to make basic arithmetical calculations. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions with a minimum of supervision as well as communicate and work cooperatively with others.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from high school or equivalent. Must have excellent reading and communication skills; prior experience in the construction trades is desirable but not required. Must be capable of heavy manual labor, including the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and frequently lift and/or move up to 100 lbs. Must be able to show proof of eligibility to work. Must possess a valid California driver’s license.
