The Library Clerk position available is an hourly, non-benefited, temporary assignment which operates out of the Community Learning Center, a branch of the Library Department. The Community Learning Center (CLC) works with collaborative agencies to serve youth and families. In collaboration with other staff at the Community Learning Center, the Library Clerk, or Homework Club Lead Assistant, will help with the children’s activities and projects, in the belief that each child, youth and adult brings strength, talents, and skills to the learning process. The Homework Club operates five days a week and serves Title I schools in South San Francisco.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leads activities that focus on reading, writing and math skill development with the use of computers, educational games and creative group projects.
- Fosters confidence, self-esteem and the love of learning in children.
- Assists in the computer lab with Internet use, word processing, and computer software.
- Supervises volunteers.
- Leads craft activities and games.
- Facilitates learning and works together with other assistants as part of a team.
- Must learn and implement the goals and philosophy of the Community Learning Center.
The ideal candidate possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills; can be a team leader and accept guidance from supervising staff; is highly organized; can integrate computers as a learning tool; possesses knowledge of strategies for motivating children in a creative learning process; and has experience integrating and supervising volunteers.
- One year minimum of teaching related experience
- High School Diploma or the equivalent
