Description

 The Deputy Finance Director will work closely with the Finance Director, division managers, and City management to provide a wide range of comprehensive services to the organization.  This position assists in the management and day-to-day operations of the Department and acts in the absence of the Finance Director.  The Deputy Finance Director directly supervises each of the division managers and directs the development, implementation, and evaluation of plans, policies, systems, and procedures to achieve Department priorities.

 

The incumbent is a key liaison between the Finance Department and other City departments, elected officials, residents, and other public and regulatory agencies.  This is a highly visible position in the City and is often called upon to resolve many issues brought forward by other departments.

The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting, finance, business administration or a related field.  Being a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or having a Master’s degree is highly desirable.

 

The position also requires seven years of progressively responsible professional finance experience, preferably in a governmental agency, including two years in a management or administrative capacity.

 

Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a Class C California driver’s license is required.
