Tri-City is looking for one individual to serve as a full-time Occupational Therapist for the Child and Family Clinic. The Occupational Therapist will appeal to those who are passionate about working with children with functional impairments in conjunction with mental health conditions. This position will be responsible for providing a full range of occupational therapy services to children and transitional age youth and will report to a Program Supervisor.
This position is responsible for a variety of ongoing responsibilities including, but not limited to:
- Evaluation, planning and providing occupational therapy treatment to children and transitional age youth. Plan, organize, and implement individual and group occupational therapy programs.
- Work as part of a mental health team and provide services to maximize reduction in mental health related difficulties in children and transitional age youth within a family treatment setting.
- Provide therapeutic techniques, including prevocational exploration and sensory integration, commonly used in occupational therapy.
- Use data to develop a plan of care and goals per child and transitional age youth needs; including short and long‐term goals and methods to achieve identified goals.
- Select treatment methods and techniques that are compatible with child and adolescent clients' needs and capacities by assigning activities of interest which will develop desired motions, responses, attitudes, behaviors, or mental function; treatment programs may include individual and group activities such as manual arts, crafts, games, music, exercises, and sensory-motor integration, and practice in functional, pre-vocational, homemaking skills and activities of daily living and other duties as assigned.
- Maintain and disseminate medical records and reports in compliance with local, county, federal, State, and TCMHA regulations including Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and The Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act, Public Law 111-005 (“HITECH Act”).
- Maintain Service Standard Hours in accordance with TCMHA requirements.
- Maintain records of all activities relating to clients’ care; complete clinical documentation in EHR and compile periodic reports; and confer with supervisor on formulation of policies and procedures.

Graduation from an occupational therapy curriculum accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association, the World Federation of Occupation Therapy or another nationally recognized occupational therapy association, and one or more years of paid work experience as a registered Occupational Therapist working with children and adolescents.
Licensure: Current license issued by the California Board of Occupational Therapy as an Occupational Therapist and must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record and meet Agency vehicle insurance standards.
Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge, abilities and skills may be considered as qualifying. *Candidates may be hired above the minimum salary range depending on qualifications (DOQ).
FULL-TIME EMPLOYEE BENEFITS:
Merit Salary Increases: Annually based on performance, budget availability and supervisor approval.
CalPERS Pension: 2% @ 55 for Classic Members and 2% @ 62 for PEPRA Members; employee contributes 7% for Classic and 6.75% for PEPRA. No Social Security.
Vacation: 80 hours per year, increasing with years of service with a maximum of 240 hours; cash out option available.
Sick Leave: Full-Time employees = 88 hours per year with no cap.
Holidays: 10 paid holidays per calendar year plus an additional 16 hours of Floating Holidays.
Flexible Work Schedule: 9/80 or 4/10, where applicable and approved by supervisor. **
Health Insurance: Medical (Kaiser HMO), dental (MetLife PPO) and vision coverage (EyeMed) of which 80% is paid by Tri-City Mental Health Authority (TCMHA).
Life Insurance: Paid at one times annual salary, paid by Tri-City MHA with additional optional coverage available.
Deferred Compensation (457b): Available to interested employees; no employer match.
