Tri-City is looking for a special individual to serve as a Clinical Therapist I or II for the Children’s Outpatient Program (COP) in the Child & Family Clinic. The Clinical Therapist I/II will appeal to individuals who are passionate about working with children, adolescents, young adults and their families.  The Clinical Therapist I/II will report to a Clinical Supervisor.

This position is responsible for a variety of ongoing responsibilities including, but not limited to:


  • Provide individual, family, group therapy for children, adolescents, and youth with mental illness and their families;


  • Provide crisis intervention as needed; collaborate with schools, DCFS and probation as needed;


  • Provide field and office services; complete all DMH documentation;


  • Conduct mental health assessments, sessions, treatment plans;


  • Ensure that documentation is updated in Electronic Health Record (EHR) regularly;


  • Other duties as assigned, etc.


Ideal Candidate


Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) or Social Work (MSW) or Counseling


Clinical Therapist I:     California Board of Behavioral Sciences registration as either an Associate Marriage or Family Therapy (AMFT) or as an Associate Clinical Social Worker (ACSW)


Clinical Therapist II:    California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) licensure as either a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC)


Must be bilingual in Spanish.  The preferred candidate will have experience working with children, experience with Electronic Health Records and/or Welligent, DMH documentation and Word and Excel.


LICENSE:  Must have & maintain a valid Class C Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record and current insurance.  

Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge, abilities and skills may be considered as qualifying.  The Department will determine level of hire (CT I or CT II) at conditional offer of employment.  *Candidates may be hired above the minimum salary range depending on qualifications (DOQ).



Merit Salary Increases: Annually based on performance, budget availability and supervisor approval.

CalPERS Pension: 2% @ 55 for Classic Members and 2% @ 62 for PEPRA Members; employee contributes 7% for Classic and 6.75% for PEPRA. No Social Security. 

Vacation:  80 hours per year, increasing with years of service with a maximum of 240 hours; cash out option available.

Sick Leave: Full-Time employees = 88 hours per year with no cap.

Holidays: 10 paid holidays per calendar year plus an additional 16 hours of Floating Holidays.

Flexible Work Schedule: 9/80 or 4/10, where applicable and approved by supervisor. **

Health Insurance:  Medical (Kaiser HMO), dental (MetLife PPO) and vision coverage (EyeMed) of which 80% is paid by Tri-City Mental Health Authority (TCMHA).

Life Insurance: Paid at one times annual salary, paid by Tri-City MHA with additional optional coverage available.

Deferred Compensation (457b): Available to interested employees; no employer match.
