Tri-City is looking to fill a vacancy for the position of Mental Health Specialist (MHS) whom will provide mental health support services to behavioral health challenged individuals as part of the Adult Full Service Partnership (FSP) Program. The MHS will appeal to individuals who are inspired by working with an engaged community providing participant advocate and case management services to moderate to severe mentally ill adults. This is a field-based position that will report to a Clinical Supervisor.

This position is responsible for a variety of ongoing responsibilities including, but not limited to:

  • Plan and provide a variety of mental health support services to mentally ill and emotionally disturbed persons to attain, restore, or improve physical, mental, or emotional functioning;
  • Provide assistance to clinical staff; participate in group and individual support programs;
  • Serve as a participant advocate; provide case management services:
  • Maintain records of all activities relating to client care and adhere to 70% billing compliancy standard;
  • Perform other duties as assigned, etc.

Preferred candidates will possess 1 to 3 years’ experience in the mental health field; experience with the adult population and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. 

Ideal Candidate


Bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, social work, criminal justice, or similar human service oriented degree


an Associate’s degree with two years of experience working in the mental health field as a specialist in behavioral modification, physical restoration, social adjustment, or vocational adjustment


four years of experience working in the mental health field as a specialist in the fields of behavioral modification, physical restoration, social adjustment, or vocational adjustment. 

Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and have experience with Electronic Health Records and/or Welligent.

LICENSE:         Must have & maintain a valid Driver’s License, have a satisfactory driving record and meet Agency’s vehicle insurance standards.

Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge, abilities and skills may be considered as qualifying. *Candidates may be hired above the minimum salary range depending on qualifications (DOQ).





Merit Salary Increases: Annually based on performance, budget availability and supervisor approval.

CalPERS Pension: 2% @ 55 for Classic Members and 2% @ 62 for PEPRA Members; employee contributes 7% for Classic and 6.75% for PEPRA. No Social Security. 

Vacation:  80 hours per year, increasing with years of service with a maximum of 240 hours; cash out option available.

Sick Leave: Full-Time employees = 88 hours per year with no cap.

Holidays: 10 paid holidays per calendar year plus an additional 16 hours of Floating Holidays.

Flexible Work Schedule: 9/80 or 4/10, where applicable and approved by supervisor. **

Health Insurance:  Medical (Kaiser HMO), dental (MetLife PPO) and vision coverage (EyeMed) of which 80% is paid by Tri-City Mental Health Authority (TCMHA).

Life Insurance: Paid at one times annual salary, paid by Tri-City MHA with additional optional coverage available.

Deferred Compensation (457b): Available to interested employees; no employer match.
