THE POSITION
Tri-City Mental Health Authority is currently hiring to fill one (1) full-time vacancy for the position of Behavioral Health Specialist within the Mobile Crisis Care Program (MCCP). Tri-City’s MCCP is a 24/7 mobile crisis response team with shifts that may include evenings, weekends, daytime hours, and holidays. Weekend and night shifts will be entitled to Shift Differential Pay of $2.50 per hour on weekdays (Monday through Friday) and $3.50 per hour on weekends (Saturday and Sunday). Holiday shifts will be entitled to Holiday Pay.
The MCCP Behavioral Health Specialist will be part of a team that provides crisis intervention and stabilization, linkage and referral, consultation, and education within the scope of practice. The MCCP Behavioral Health Specialist will report to the Mobile Crisis Care Program Manager.
This position is responsible for a variety of ongoing responsibilities including, but not limited to:
- Provides individual, group, family, and collateral rehabilitative support services to facilitate behavior modification including skill building, needs assessment, self-care/safety, and coping strategies and techniques; may provide case management services in the office and in the field.
- Develops, monitors, and evaluates client rehabilitative and case management goals and increases/decreases in targeted behavior according to client needs; monitors goal
progress/regression.
- Provides linkages, resources, and referrals to address basic needs and other barriers to wellness and recovery including food, housing, clothing, transportation, and other financial resources.
- Encourages and supports clients to fully engage in services; provides outreach and assists clients in addressing and overcoming barriers to treatment.
- Plans and facilitates and/or co-facilitates group sessions for clients and community members focused on skill building; tracks client attendance and follows up with individual clients, as necessary.
- Provides advocacy for clients to ensure inclusion in all aspects of the community including socialization, employment, education, and housing to meet client needs.
Ideal Candidate
Education and Experience
Education:
- Equivalent to an associate degree from an accredited college with major coursework in psychology, sociology, social work, criminal justice, or related field.
Experience:
- Two (2) years of experience providing behavioral modification, physical restoration, social adjustment, or vocational adjustment services to clients in a behavioral health setting.
Licenses and Certifications
- Possession of a valid California Driver’s License, a satisfactory driving record, and a properly registered and insured vehicle, to be maintained throughout employment.
Bilingual candidates are preferred but not required.
Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge, abilities and skills may be considered as qualifying. *Candidates may be hired above the minimum salary range depending on qualifications (DOQ).
Benefits
FULL-TIME EMPLOYEE BENEFITS:
NEW! Sign-on Bonuses: $2500 for eligible positions.
Merit Salary Increases: Annually based on performance, budget availability, and supervisor approval.
CalPERS Pension: 2% @ 55 for Classic Members and 2% @ 62 for PEPRA Members; employee contributes 7% for Classic and 7.75% for PEPRA. No Social Security.
Vacation: 80 hours per year, increasing with years of service with a maximum of 240 hours; cash-out option available.
Sick Leave: Full-Time employees = 88 hours per year with no cap.
Holidays/ Holiday Pay: Tri-City recognizes 11 Authorized Holidays and 16 hours of Floating Holidays per calendar year. In lieu of fixed or floating holidays, employees assigned to work for the MCCP on a Tri-City Authorized Holiday shall receive compensation at one and one-half (1 ½ ) times the employee’s basic hourly rate for the number of hours actually worked.
Shift Differential Pay: $2.50 per hour on weekdays (Monday through Friday) and $3.50 per hour on weekends (Saturday and Sunday).
NEW! Longevity Pay: $2500 at 5 years of service; $5000 at 10-35 milestone years of service.
Health Insurance: Medical (Kaiser HMO), dental (MetLife PPO) and vision coverage (EyeMed) of which 80% is paid by Tri-City Mental Health Authority (TCMHA).
Life Insurance: Paid at one times annual salary, paid by Tri-City MHA with additional optional coverage available.
Deferred Compensation (457b): Available to interested employees; no employer match.

- Proof of Vaccination: All new hires are required to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 upon employment. Alternatively, you may seek an exemption under our Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination policy.
- Booster Doses: Eligible new hires must also receive booster doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
- Mask Requirement: Employees may remove their masks in the workplace if they meet the following conditions:
- Receipt of the 2023-2024 COVID-19 vaccine, available from Pfizer, Moderna, or Novavax.
- Receipt of an annual influenza vaccine.
- Submission of proof of both the updated COVID-19 2023-2024 vaccine formula and the annual influenza vaccine to Human Resources.
