Reserve Police Officer, Level I
After successful completion of a POST approved Field Training Program, will operate as a Level I Reserve performing state and local law enforcement and crime prevention duties. Responsibilities include traffic control and issuing citations; participating in and conducting criminal investigations; making arrests; performing a variety of technical and administrative law enforcement services and activities; engaging with the local Winters community and contributing to a positive, trustful, and professional Police Department image.
MUST HAVE A CALIFORNIA POST BASIC ACADEMY CERTIFICATE
Reserve Officers will be assigned to assist a patrol shift under general supervision with the expressed goal of protecting life and property. Reserve Officers will be assigned to supplement full-time Police Officers and may be assigned to beats; be responsible for providing public assistance; answering calls related to traffic incidents and other emergencies; enforcing laws and ordinances; maintaining order; preventing crime; preparing reports on activities performed; testifying and presenting evidence in court; providing backup assistance for other officers and personnel; collecting, preserving and maintaining evidence, found property and property for safekeeping; serving warrants and subpoenas and performing other related activites as needed or required. Reserve Officers are required to complete follow-up investigations on their cases and investigate each incident thoroughly.
