Description

POSITION

Under general supervision, the Water Exercise Instructor provides a safe and thorough instruction in all type of aquatic exercise activities.  Evening and weekend hours are required.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under general supervision, the Water Exercise Instructor works within the parameters of profession aquatic exercise associations and certified instructors in developing aquatic exercise routines.  Properly demonstrate routines and leads patrons in workouts; handles daily participant registration; serves as a Lifeguard or Swim Instructor as needed; maintains discipline and enforces pool rules and regulations; and performs any other assigned duties.

QUALIFICATIONS

Age Requirement:

  • At least 17 years of age

Experience:              

  • A minimum one-year assisting working with people in an organized, aquatic environment.
  • Prior experience teaching or leading any aquatic program.

Knowledge of:         

  • Basic aquatic exercise theory and class progression of an exercise class.
  • Basic human physiology and kinesiology, as it relates to exercise.

Ability to: 

  • Conduct aquatic exercise classes in a logical progression.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing, understand and carry out oral and written instructions.

Education & Certifications:

  • American Red Cross Lifeguard Training with CPR and First Aid (or equivalent)
  • American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor is recommended. (or equivalent)
  • Certification from any aquatic exercise association is recommended.
  • Ability to obtain First Aid for Public Safety Personnel (Title 22 equivalent).
  SALARY

$12.75 -$13.75  per hour - Scale based on experience, years of service, and certifications.

The pay cycle is monthly.  Payday is the last working day of the month.  With the exception of Worker’s Compensation Coverage, no other benefits are provided.  Employees must contribute 1.45% of salary to Medicare and 7.5% to a retirement plan in accordance with Federal Law.

All positions are temporary part-time, usually offering 10-15 hours per week Monday through Friday 8:15am to 9:45am, 11:15am to 1:15pm and 6:45-8:15pm. This position may offer additional hours on the weekends and during the winter months.

THE ABILITY TO SPEAK AND UNDERSTAND SPANISH IS A DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION FOR ALL POSITIONS.
