CIVIC FELLOW PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The City of Woodland has established a paid summer fellow program for individuals early in their career seeking public service experience. This program invests in our local workforce and fosters a passion for careers in the public sector. During the eight (8)-week program, fellows will work with a city department and participate in program-wide activities. 

Typical work hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, up to 40 hours per week. For more information, visit cityofwoodland.gov/1429/Civic-Fellowship-Program.

This fellow posting is for the Human Resources Fellow in the Administrative Services Department.

 

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Administrative Services Department, Human Resources Fellow will work the various databases, document and program management to ensure complete and accurate information.  Plan and assist with the development of training and staff development programs to facilitate employee growth within the city.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives general direction from the designated City employee.

IDEAL CANDIDATE is enthusiastic team player who adapt at performing a variety of administrative tasks, including updating records, developing and reviewing training programs, auditing job descriptions, assisting with various employee wellness and safety programs.  The candidate should be able to handle multiple projects and work well, individually and collaboratively, with variety of people.

 

THE POSITION OBJECTIVE/GOAL

A Human Resources Fellow is a crucial role in assisting the Human Resources (HR) Department continue to run smoothly. Some of the project will include reviewing HR policies, procedures, and processes and assisting with developing programs and activities targeted for employee training and development.  Strong attention to detail and organizational skills will be utilized in maintaining accurate employee records and assisting with various HR-related activities.

 

Additionally, you will have the chance to contribute to the coordination of company events and gain exposure to different facets of HR management.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4+ years of high school
  • Local Woodland knowledge preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail 
  • Strong computer skills including digital photography, graphic design, or social media platforms
  • Ability to build and maintain trust-based relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders

Work in the United States.

Salary Range

$19.00 - $24.00 / hour dependent on experience.
