The City of Yuba City is now accepting applications for Wastewater Treatment Facility Operator II/II. This position is a part of the City’s Wastewater Treatment Team and plays an important role in the function of the Wastewater Treatment Facility. Under general supervision, Wastewater Treatment Facility Operators operate and maintain the Wastewater Treatment Facility collection system pump stations, storm stations, seepage station and perform other related work as required. Wastewater Treatment Facility Operators may also operate and maintain satellite Wastewater Facilities. An Operator III provides lead direction to other workers, but has no supervisory responsibilities. More experienced operators are expected to be able to operate the facility independently and assist with training other operators.
Education: Education equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade is required.
Wastewater Treatment Facility Operator II:
Experience: Two (2) years of recent, full-time increasingly responsible work experience at a wastewater treatment facility.
- Possession of a valid California driver’s license.
- Possession of a valid California Grade II or higher Wastewater Certificate issued by the California State Water Resources Control board at the time of appointment.
- Grade II Treatment Facility Operators are required to attain Grade III certificate within 36 months from date of Grade II licensure.
Wastewater Treatment Facility Operator III:
Experience: Three (3) years of recent, full-time increasingly responsible work experience at a wastewater treatment facility.
- Possession of a valid California driver’s license.
- Possession of a valid California Grade III or higher Wastewater Certificate issued by the California State Water Resources Control board at the time of appointment.
*It is the incumbents' responsibility to maintain a valid California Wastewater Operator's Certification and CWEA Collection System Maintenance Certification at required levels.
Salary: The current salary for Wastewater Treatment Facility Operator II/III is $4,396 - $6,145.
Retirement: New employees into CalPERS retirement system will enroll in the 2% @62 formula. Employees meeting CAlPERS classic member status will enroll in the 2% @ 55 formula. The City does not participate in Social Security. For more information, please contact Human Resources at (530) 822-4610.
Deferred Compensation: A Deferred Compensation Program is available for City employees.
Medical/Dental/Vision: The City offers an excellent benefits package with generous City contributions for employees and their dependents to health, dental and vision premiums.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP): The City pays for an EAP that offers to employees, spouses and dependents for a total of eight (8) visits per family member, per incident, per benefit period with no limite on the number of incidents per year.
Life Insurance: $10,000 for employee and $2,000 for dependents paid by the City. Employees may elect to purchase additional coverage.
Tuition Reimbursements: $1,150 per fiscal year for tuition and books (subject to approval).
Vacation: Thirteen (13) days annually for new employees. Vacation accrual increases with time of service up to a maximum of twenty three (23) days.
Sick Leave: Twelve (12) days annually. Unlimited accrual with pay off provision upon termination of City employment with a minimum of five (5) years of City service.
Holiday: The City offers eleven (11) paid holidays per year and two (2) floating holidays.
Flexible Spending Account: Allows for pre-tax deductions for unreimbursed medical and dependent care expenses.
Computer Purchase Program: Assists employees in the purchase of computer hardware, software and peripheral equipment.
