City of Auburn

Renowned for its beauty and outstanding quality of life.  Auburn’s 7.5 square miles are home to an enlightened, diverse, and civic-minded population of approximately 14,070 people.

Located at the crossroads of Interstate 80 and Highway 49, Auburn is the County Seat of Placer County as well as the home of the California Welcome Center. The City is located in the western foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range at elevations between 1,000 and 1,500 feet above sea level.  Auburn’s location provides the advantage of being above the valley fog and below the Sierra snow line.
