City of Belvedere

Belvedere is one of the smallest and oldest cities in California. It was incorporated in 1896 and is situated just north of San Francisco over the Golden Gate Bridge in Marin County. The City is surrounded by water and comprises two islands and an artificial lagoon, with a total land mass of just 0.5 square miles. With less than 1,000 residences and very little retail or commercial presence, Belvedere is known for its rich history, natural beauty, tranquility, and strong sense of community. Despite its small size, Belvedere is a full-service city with police, public works, planning, building, finance, and administration departments.
