Description
The Extra Help Employee - Clinical Nurse position will be housed with the Health and Human Services Agency in the Behavioral Health division. This is a journey-level technical classification. Positions at this level work independently while exercising judgment and initiative. Positions at this level receive instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise, and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. This position is scheduled for up to twenty fine (25) hours per week.
JOB DUTIES
- Conducts immunization and flu vaccination clinics for children and adults on-site and in community settings.
- Participates in program outreach and public information / publicity activities.
- Performs general office work as required, including but not limited to copying and filing documents, preparing/typing documents, answering the telephone, faxing information, entering computer data, attending meetings, ordering supplies, maintaining office cleanliness, etc.
- Prepares required reports and records with accuracy and in a timely manner.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have experience administering medications or injections and assist clients in accessing health and community services.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EXPERIENCE:
Two years of responsible nursing experience, preferably including some public / community
health experience.
EDUCATION:
Completion of a registered nursing program.
LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE:
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California driver’s license.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid license as a registered nurse in California.
Benefits
SICK LEAVE:
Up to 24 hours per year of paid sick leave. Up to 48 hours of paid sick leave maximum accrual.
SHORT TERM DISABILITY:
The County coordinates with State Disability Insurance for regular employees.
RETIREMENT:
The County is in the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERS) which is coordinated with Social Security. Unused accrued sick leave can be converted to service credit at retirement. This applies only to PSE’s who work more than 1,000 hours in a fiscal year.
