The City of Redwood City is currently accepting applications for entry level Police Officer candidates who are either currently attending, have recently been accepted to, or have successfully graduated from an accredited California P.O.S.T. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:

• Completion of 30 semester units from an accredited college or university (60 units or more is preferred). REQUIRED: Attach a copy of college transcripts to application.

License or Certificate: 

• Valid California driver's license and satisfactory driving record.

Other Requirements:

• Currently enrolled in or have successfully graduated from an accredited California P.O.S.T. approved basic academy (or California P.O.S.T. approved equivalent).
• Physically capable of passing the California P.O.S.T. medical examination job requirements.

The City of Redwood City invites you to apply for the position of High School or College Summer intern for the Community Development Department. This employment opportunity is excellent for a well-organized “people person” seeking some summer work experience and getting exposure to government and specifically to work in the Community Development Department.

The primary responsibility of this position is to help with document scanning, managing mail outs, answering phones, data entry and document preparation. The position will also be able to shadow planners and building staff on counter duties, attend meetings, and assist staff on planning projects as schedule permits.

This summer intern position is a non-benefited casual position. This casual position work schedule will vary (as needed) between 15-20 hours per week and will be in-person on three days between Monday-Thursday. The position start and end date are flexible based on applicant’s needs but generally anticipated to last a maximum of 10 weeks.

ABOUT THE SUMMER LEARNING CHALLENGE PROGRAM

The Summer Learning Challenge is a summer library program that encourages kids, teens and adults to read or listen to books in the summer. The Challenge is a fun, interactive program for the whole family that includes free book giveaways, activities, raffles, and prizes for kids ages 0-18. The program starts on June 1 and runs through the end of August.

 

ABOUT THE POSITION

We are looking for enthusiastic high school interns to support Library staff with activities both at the libraries and at summer outreach sites throughout the City of Redwood City to promote and support the Summer Learning Challenge. The interns will be responsible for planning and delivering library programs, providing them with opportunities where their voices are elevated and valued.

 

Example of Duties: Under the supervision of a Librarian perform various duties as assigned for the operation of the Summer Learning Challenge. Duties may include, assist with planning and delivering programs for kids and teen, serve lunch an lead activities during the lunch at the Library service, register children and families up in the Summer Learning Challenge and record statistical data, staff outreach events at local school and community sites.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Duties for this position include, but are not limited to, the following: follow event plan and execute assigned duties effectively and efficiently; understand proper setup and breakdown procedures of special events equipment; maintain and care for equipment as necessary; monitor program areas for quality assurance; operate effectively as a member of a team; report to supervisors orally and in writing; complete assigned paperwork such as timecards and incident and/or accident reports.
Work schedules can vary during the year pending current event programming. Candidates can expect an average of 15-20 hours per week throughout the year.

The City of Redwood City invites you to apply for the position of Crime Analyst.

This position will be responsible for supporting the Chief of Police and Command Staff within the Police Department by providing professional, technical, administrative, and analytical assistance related to crime analysis and operational decision-making. The incumbent will work on projects and assignments involving the collection, validation, and analysis of crime reports, calls for service, arrest data, and other public safety information to identify trends, patterns, and emerging issues. The position will develop and prepare analytical products such as reports, summaries, bulletins, presentations, and staff reports, and will support department planning and resource deployment through clear, accurate, and timely information. The incumbent will also complete proofreading and related analytical tasks, along with general administrative work and the management of confidential and sensitive law enforcement information and files. This position is in person and is required to regularly work onsite at the Police Department Building. 9/80 flex schedule option available. Remote or hybrid work is not available for this role.

The successful applicant will provide highly responsible analytical, technical, and professional staff support and will strive to maintain high quality service to internal and external customers. The selected candidate will recommend and assist in the implementation of new procedures and technologies to ensure continuous improvement and efficiencies for the Police Department and will work collaboratively with sworn and professional staff to support department priorities and outcomes.

The City of Redwood City Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Department invites you to apply for the casual position of Human Services Assistant at the Fair Oaks Community Center (FOCC). FOCC is a multi-service agency that offers a variety of programs and services provided by City staff and non-profit and public agency partners. This position provides a variety of administrative and operational support functions while also providing customer service to customers of all ages and backgrounds. In particular, the Human Services Assistant will support the Information and Referral/Emergency Services Program that provides vital safety net, homelessness intervention, and homelessness prevention services to low-income families, single parents, seniors, disabled persons, persons experiencing homelessness, and individuals seeking assistance in meeting their basic needs and strengthening their economic self-sufficiency.

This is a non-benefited, casual (temporary) position, scheduled to work flexibly, 10-20 hours per week.
