Role description

Under general supervision, operates, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs a wide variety of pumping, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, refrigeration and auxiliary plant machinery and equipment in a large complex or multi-faceted facility. Ensures that all equipment, machinery and systems are functioning normally and safely, and complies with all applicable safety rules and regulations. The incumbent will either be assigned to work in the world class historic Cable Car Barn or the Mechanical Systems Program which manages SFMTA’s subway system, this includes the recently completed Central Subway extension project.

*Different shifts at the Mechanical Systems Program (MSP), various Subway Stations, and Cable Car (CC) Building, at 1201 Mason Street, San Francisco, CA 94108. Initial trainings may occur in shifts different than those listed below:

1. Transit CC (Grave, SUN-THU, 21:00-05:00 / 9:00pm-5:00am)
2. Transit CC (Grave, THU-MON, 21:00-05:00 / 9:00pm-5:00am)
3. Transit MSP (Grave, MON-FRI, 22:00-06:00 / 10:00pm-6:00am)
4. Transit CC (Day, FRI-TUE, 09:00-17:00 / 9:00am-5:00pm)
5. Transit MSP (Grave, SAT-WED, 22:00-06:00 / 10:00pm-6:00am)

Essential functions of the class include:

• Operates, maintains and repairs a wide variety of pumping, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, refrigeration, and power generating equipment in a large complex or multi-faceted facility to ensure the safe, correct and efficient functioning of the facility and equipment may be required to operate computerized building management systems, preventative or predictive maintenance computer systems or Computerized Data Gathering System (SCADA).
• Inspects and tests: machinery and equipment for safe, efficient and proper operation by visual and audio inspection during walk-throughs and by standard monitoring; fire prevention equipment to ensure safe and proper functionality; water storage and multiple distribution systems, high pressure zones, wood and steel storage tanks, pumps and relief valves, and samples of water.
• Makes entries and keeps records on shift operation by taking and entering gauge readings and accurate water laboratory analysis readings and temperatures on operating log sheets or into a computer data system to ensure preventative maintenance and equipment history; and changes charts and recordings accordingly.
• Receives, records and stores large amounts of treatment chemicals and may handle hazardous chemicals in confined or enclosed areas; must be capable of safely and properly handling chemical spills; may also include handling and treatment of industrial or hazardous waste.
• Contacts, communicates and is required to deal with contractors, building tenants and/or the general public in order to be able to discharge assigned duties.
• Maintains keys, communications equipment, and security (in the absence of Security Personnel), in order to ensure the security of a plant and buildings and grounds, including public safety. As part of an emergency response team, recognizes, evaluates, and responds to potentially hazardous situations.
• Performs control tests on water samples to determine chlorine and fluoride residual, pH, alkalinity, turbidity, color, saturation index and flocculation factors; under supervision, conducts water analysis and regulates treatment chemical dosages to maintain water quality in filtration plant, distribution system, or other large complex facility may also be required to perform water analysis on water/wastewater as required by the State of California; performs boiler water and cooling tower chemical tests, including pH, alkalinity TDS, etc., to monitor and control growth of organisms in water.
• Performs related duties as required.

Nature of work
Involves physical effort in the repair and maintenance of machinery and equipment; the ability to lift heavy objects; exposure to working conditions where minor abrasions, bruises, and burns may occur; occasional uncomfortable work inside closed and dirty spaces; exposure to potential uncomfortable weather conditions and traffic conditions; and requires physical stamina to stand, stoop, bend and climb ladders while working in confined spaces, entryways and tight crawl spaces.  Some positions may also require the ability to operate both automatic and manual automobile transmission as needed. Employees may be required to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays, and a shift of up to 12 hours.

How to qualify

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Four (4) years of verified journey-level stationary engineer experience in the maintenance, repair and operation of a variety of mechanical and electrical pumping, heating, air conditioning, ventilating and related plant machinery used in a government establishment, hospital, industrial, production or commercial building; AND

2. Possession of a valid California Driver’s License; AND

3. Possession at time of hire a Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) certificate issued by the Federal Environmental Protection Agency.

Substitution: (Any of the following may be substituted for the required experience)

• Completion of a recognized four-year Stationary Engineer apprenticeship program
• Graduation from a recognized four-year Maritime Academy with a degree in engineering or technology
• Possession of at least a 3rd Assistant Marine Engineer's License of any (unrestricted) horsepower

The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) has determined that Class 7334 Stationary Engineer is a “safety-sensitive” position, under regulations issued by the Federal Transit Administration (49 CFR Part 655). Federal law requires that all transit employees who perform safety-sensitive functions be subject to random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, return-to-duty and follow-up drug and alcohol testing. All applicants for Safety-Sensitive positions shall undergo urine drug testing prior to employment and within 90 days prior to performing Safety-Sensitive functions for the first time. Receipt by the SFMTA of a negative test result is required prior to the employee being placed on the payroll. A positive, adulterated, negative dilute or substituted test will result in a decision not to hire, and the applicant’s name will be removed from the list of eligibles for Safety-Sensitive positions. The SFMTA will not consider hiring any person who tested positive, adulterated, substituted or refused to submit to testing for a minimum of two years following the positive test.

In addition, each applicant who has worked for a Department of Transportation (DOT)-regulated employer(s) within the last two years will be required to sign a consent form, prior to appointment, authorizing SFMTA to obtain information from his/her prior employers concerning his/her drug and alcohol test history. San Mateo County Health is seeking an experienced and well-qualified individual for the position of Care Management Specialist II.

 

There is currently one regular vacancy within the Public Health, Policy and Planning Division. The position is stationed in South San Francisco but will travel/drive throughout the County to engage and provide case management and care coordination for County clients with complex needs.
 
The Position
The Care Management Specialist will, under general supervision, perform a wide variety of case/care management services including outreach, engagement, assessment, evaluation, referral and direct supportive services for high-risk clients with multiple challenges including those experiencing co-morbidities including complex medical conditions, serious mental illness (SMI), Substance Use Disorder (SUD), justice involved, and/or individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Develop, coordinate and manage individual care plans of assigned clients; and perform other related work as required.
 
Care Management Specialists (II) are responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties: 

• Conduct outreach to eligible clients using various modalities and apply appropriate techniques to engage client into care.
• Evaluate client condition using a variety of assessment and screening tools, established clinical guidelines, interviews with clients and/or other professionals, and determine the appropriate referral(s), level of care, and recommended case/care management plan.
• Interview clients and their families to obtain medical, behavioral health, socio-economic, and other case history and administer appropriate assessment instruments to assist in the development and/or implementation of a person centered care plan.
• Assess, evaluate and document social determinants of health appropriately.
• Ensure appropriate coordination of care to ensure clients continued engagement, recovery and success.
• Gather appropriate enrollment documentation for clients including consents to treatment and releases of information and ensure that the client’s chart is current.
• Maintain case files on clients including assessment summaries, progress notes, court and/or social service documents, treatment authorizations, referrals and related correspondence with clients.
• Gather appropriate consents from clients to use in gathering information from outside agencies/sources.
• Establish relationships with a continuum of providers and other partners in the community for the referral and care of client’s health, behavioral health, social, and related needs.
• Regularly meet with clients to provide information and support regarding their care and recommended services and treatments available and document services provided in the electronic health record.
• Evaluate client needs during each interaction and update care plan as needed.
• Work with members of care team including community agencies as required to assist clients in implementing their care plan goals in the various domains and in coping with challenges.
• Consult with other professionals when clinical expertise is needed in development of care plans.
• Attend case conferences, Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings and related meetings to coordinate client care and activities with other divisions of the department, other County departments and community groups and providers.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Ideal candidate will possess: 

• Significant experience providing case management and care coordination services for individuals diagnosed with serious mental illness and/or those experiencing significant medical co-morbidities. 
• Extensive experience performing client evaluations to determine the appropriate referral(s).
• Demonstrated experience conducting fieldwork to engage clients in the streets, in homeless encampments, shelters, under freeways and other venues.
• Experience working with clients with co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders.
• Demonstrated ability to administer appropriate assessment instruments to assist in the development of the client's case history and for use in developing treatment recommendations.
• Extensive knowledge and experience Identifying, establishing and utilizing a variety of community resources.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare reports, case summaries, and correspondence as required, maintaining case histories and work records, including required statistics.
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with partner and contract providers.
• Demonstrated skill and understanding of privacy regulations including HIPAA regulations.

About the Bridges to Wellness Program
To improve the quality of life for vulnerable populations by providing exceptional, person-centered and recovery-oriented services.
 
The Bridges to Wellness program, within the Public Health, Policy & Planning Division of San Mateo County Health, provides case/care management for vulnerable county residents. The program supports persons with complex needs including those managing chronic medical conditions, substance use disorder, mental health challenges and homelessness. The program provides evidence-based services consistent with person-centered and recovery-oriented practice and values where recovery is defined as “A process of change through which individuals improve their health and wellness, live a self-directed life, and strive to reach their full potential
 
The program provides care management to individuals referred by the Health Plan for Enhanced Care Management as well as those referred by County Behavioral Health & Recovery Services. The BTW team includes 14 case managers who, while generalists, bring a wide variety of expertise to the program and the populations we serve. The program provides an intermediate level of care management with caseload of 30 individuals.

Education and Experience:

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to qualify is:

• Care Management Specialist II:  Two years of experience in care management or case management including assessing and evaluating clients using standard instruments and/or guidelines, and working with clients in a social service or health service program serving those with complex needs.

Knowledge of:

• Strategies for working effectively with at least one of the following populations: individuals with complex medical conditions, serious mental illness (SMI), Substance Use Disorder (SUD), and individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

The City of Santa Clara is recruiting for the Electric Utility Chief Operating Officer for its Electric Utility, Silicon Valley Power (SVP).  Reporting to the Chief Electric Utility Officer (CEUO), the Electric Utility Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a senior management position in the City's unclassified service responsible for the oversight and direction for the fiscal, administrative, and managerial operations of the utility. The COO has supervisory and support responsibilities for the utility's divisions: Utility Operations, Customer Development and Project Management, Resource Planning and Customer Engagement, and Business Services. The COO will help guide SVP through the extraordinary period of growth related by doubling the existing capacity of the electrical system to meet new customer demands over the next 10 years. Position Summary

 

Under general direction of the Director of Budget and Electronic Revenue and reporting to the Electronic Revenue Programs Manager, the Electronic Revenue Collection Analyst is responsible for supporting the daily functionality and collecting revenue accurately, especially for the AET program and Clipper program. The District utilizes a regional electronic-based fare system (Clipper) for the Ferry and Bus Systems and administers an All-Electronic Toll (AET) collection system for Bridge tolls. This position is responsible for representing the District and working with a variety of internal and external agency staff and must be able to work with technical specialists, accounting staff, customer service center (CSC) staff, toll system staff, regional Clipper partner agencies, and third parties to ensure that toll and fare payment transaction processing is functioning properly and accurately. Monitors and improves the daily transaction processing for transit, tolls, traffic and passenger volumes, and toll collection rate activities and revenue. Participates in special projects for toll, parking, and electronic revenue programs and resolves operational and functional issues of the Clipper program for the District and proactively resolves customer related issues including system maintenance, customer service functions including direct customer contact, technical functionality and customer issues to aid in uncovering and addressing system issues. Responsible for data trend analysis, budget monitoring, program analysis, reconciliation of financial and programmatic contract issues, and creating/revising the toll collection (traffic and revenue) program reports for management for the electronic revenue program.

• Monitors performance of the violation enforcement system at the Golden Gate Bridge
• Audits violation notice generation, collections and DMV hold processes to ensure transactions are being handled correctly
• Collects and analyzes data on various violation collection methods at Golden Gate Bridge and throughout California to ensure Golden Gate Bridge utilizes the most efficient methods
• Reviews AET (License Plate/FasTrak) and Clipper data to ensure accurate fares are being collected and analyzes data trends
• Supports District staff responsible for system maintenance, customer issues, and program management, shares information and identifies opportunities to improve toll collection system performance
• Supports the operations of contracted third party cash payment networks and District Clipper networks
• Supports the planning, research, implementation, and operation of new and sometimes unprecedented revenue collection programs and systems

The Department of Planning and Development is currently recruiting for one (1) Senior Planner that will serve as the County of Santa Clara’s Agricultural Permitting Ally.

With 890 farms, over 288,000 acres of land, and over $310 million of produce, Santa Clara County’s vibrant community is composed of a diverse, multicultural population with agriculture that is driven by dedicated farmers and farmworkers who call Santa Clara County home. The County is seeking a new and key team player with general planning experience as well as a strong agricultural planning acumen to serve as an agricultural permitting ally (Senior Planner). A Senior Planner in this role would help farmers understand what rules and regulations apply to agricultural worker housing and would help applicants navigate the various permits and departmental approvals that are required. As an ally for agricultural permitting, this Senior Planner would focus on making the process of development more approachable and accessible and will explore options and alternatives with prospective applicants to provide housing on their farm or ranch, or establish new or expanded agricultural producing businesses, while maintaining the asset of agriculturally viable land throughout the rural unincorporated county areas. The agricultural permitting ally is a unique role that will be responsible for assisting farmers with agricultural worker housing and other agricultural-specific permitting, including but not limited to: assisting farmers through the County of Santa Clara’s building permitting process; helping farmers resolve code violations and maintain compliance with land use and building codes and standards; identifying opportunities for streamlining agricultural worker housing; promoting and supporting the production of safe and livable housing inventory for agricultural workers through the County of Santa Clara; and, working with local, state, and federal partners to connect farmers with resources. This would include preparation of professional staff reports of summarized data, conclusions and recommendations.
• Have conducted as a lead project manager or co-project manager long-range, comprehensive planning projects; e.g., general plan updates, major zoning ordinance amendments, specific plans, vision plans, etc., with working knowledge of the principals and practices of such working documents.

San Mateo County Health's Behavioral Health and Recovery Services Division (BHRS) is seeking a well-qualified individual for the position of Occupational Therapist II - Therapeutic Day Schools.

 

The mental health Occupational Therapy within the Therapeutic Day Schools (TDS) program assists youth in acquiring skills needed to function in their life roles of student and worker. As the students in the TDS program progress toward graduation they are then linked with the Department of Rehabilitation for assessment and counseling for future placement. The Occupational Therapist also provides treatment through the use of arts and crafts activities. The focus of this "activity" based treatment is the development of pre-vocational skills: pro-social and task skills.

 

Occupation Therapy services in the TDS unit are provided in two general areas: direct and indirect services. These services function to prepare the young person for the roles of a student, performance of age-appropriate daily living behaviors and ultimately the transition to worker, college student, or vocational training.

 

The Occupational Therapy program addresses: independent living skills, pre-vocational skills, socialization skills, recreation and leisure activities, and transition activities as outlined in the students Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

 

The Therapeutic Day School unit is comprised of two separate school programs serving high school aged special education students in the Jefferson High School District, and South San Francisco Unified School District. Each TDS program is a collaboration between that designated high school district. TDS students are certified special education students who have been evaluated and determined in need of intensive mental health services in order to benefit from their education. The core staff is comprised of a multi-disciplinary team including both mental health and educational staff. The TDS program works in close collaboration with outside service providers such as probation, social services, education, Wrap- Around service providers and other mental health contract agencies.

 

The Therapeutic Day School BHRS Staff include a Clinical Services Manager (1), Supervising Mental Health Clinician (1), Psychiatric Social Workers / Marriage and Family Therapists (2), Creative Arts Therapist (1), Occupational Therapist (1), Psychiatrist (1) and Medical Office Assistant (1). District special education staff include the Special Education Director (1), Program Specialist (1), Special Education Teacher (1 or 2), and Teaching Associates (1 or 2).

• Experience working with adolescents in a mental health setting

• Experience working with special education students and participating in the IEP process
• Familiarity with normal adolescent development

• Collaborate and coordinate with the multi-disciplinary team which includes special education staff and mental health staff in order to provide comprehensive treatment to youth in the TDS program.
• Participate in milieu therapy and enforce the behavior management system.
• Provide consultation and support to families and staff as needed.
• Provide education and training to staff as needed.
• Liaison with community agencies to assess, implement or coordinate services.
• Work closely with district vocational support staff to assist students in transitioning to the role of worker.
• Participate in Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings by completing and monitoring progress of the Individualized Transition Plan (ITP).

 

Qualifications

Education and Experience: 

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is:

• Occupational Therapist II: One year of supervised experience in occupational therapy.

 Licensure/Certification: 

• Eligibility for or registration as an Occupational Therapist by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy. Failure to obtain this licensure within twelve months of employment may result in termination.

We’re looking for a motivated, reliable, and diligent professional to take on the role of Senior Building Inspector. You will join a fast-paced, dynamic team environment, providing critical inspection services within the Community Development Department.  This position receives direction from the Deputy Building Official, will provide leadership and indirect supervision over other inspection staff, and can build positive working relationships throughout the organization and development community. The Essentials 

• Three years increasingly responsible building inspection experience supplemented by journey level construction trade experience. 
• Equivalent to the completion of the 12th grade supplemented by college level courses in inspection methods, architecture, structural, or civil engineering.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate California driver’s license. 
• Possession of an International Code Council (ICC) certification as a combination inspector, building inspector, or designated trade specialist, e.g., electrical inspector.

 

Bonus Points:

• Possession of an AA degree in a related field.
• Experience in a City Building Department.
• Possession of a CASp certification.

What You'll Do
 

• Perform field inspections on various structural, electrical, plumbing, mechanical and building systems at various stages of building construction, alteration, or repair to ensure compliance with applicable codes. 
• Check building plans for compliance with applicable codes.
• Confer with and resolve code and inspection disputes between staff and builders, developers, contractors, architects, engineers, and the public. 
• Respond to questions and concerns of assigned staff and/or the public; assist in coordinating inspection activities. 
• Collaborate on code violation cases with the Code Enforcement Division of the City Attorney’s Office.
• Coordinate inspection activities with inspection staff in other City Divisions/ Departments, such as Planning, Fire, Environmental Safety, and Public Works, and in collaboration with other county and state agencies. 
• Provide training to new Building Inspection staff and on City policies, procedures, rules, and regulations. 
• Prepare appropriate paperwork, violation notices, records, and reports. 
• Support the public counter and Permit Center in the Building Division as needed. 
• Develop and prepare forms and online content related to inspection services for the City Website, in collaboration with other Department staff.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

The City of Sunnyvale is seeking to fill the position of Public Safety Dispatcher with an energetic and highly motivated individual who possesses excellent customer service, technical and interpersonal skills.

 
Under general supervision of the Senior Public Safety Dispatcher, processes emergency and non-emergency calls for service; dispatches police, fire, medical, rescue, animal control or other emergency equipment, by telephone or radio, utilizing complex technical aids, such as computer aided dispatch systems (CAD); and performs related work as required.

 

The minimum qualifications required for this position are - Graduation from high school or tested equivalent; and Two years of experience dispatching police and/or fire services for a public safety agency utilizing contemporary dispatching technical tools, including computer aided dispatching systems; or successful completion of probation as a Public Safety Dispatcher-in-Training with the City of Sunnyvale.
