Position Summary

Under general direction, performs responsible professional level engineering and administrative work in connection with a wide variety of engineering projects. May lead professional and paraprofessional engineering personnel engaged in the planning, design and construction phases of engineering projects.  Assist Directing Civil Engineer in training and providing guidance to Junior through Associate Engineer classifications and Inspector classifications. Position Duties

The Library Department is seeking four (4) Literacy Program Specialists (LPS) to join our team and change the lives of those we serve! The ideal candidate for these positions will understand, support, practice and promote the Mission, Vision, & Values statements of the City of San José and the library; demonstrate leadership and a commitment to active customer service; have knowledge of current literacy technology and trends; have experience working with a diverse community and staff; and enjoy working in a fast-paced, innovative team environment.
 
Literacy Program Specialists are community connectors. They are responsible for coordinating programs and services provided by the library. They identify community needs, collaborate with partner organizations, and guide library customers to information and helpful resources. Specialists are responsible for performing a variety of professional duties including: implementing grants; planning/implementing or finding partners for library programs; conducting community outreach; evaluating the effectiveness of programs, computer software, and online learning tools; formulating a strong partnership with other Library units (Family Learning Centers, Early Education, Expanded Learning, College and Career Pathways, Digital Empowerment, and SJPL Works); and having knowledge of current literacy trends. Family Learning Center Coordinator 

SJPL is seeking a dynamic, community-oriented Literacy program specialist to lead educational and family engagement programs at one of the  Family Learning Centers. This role involves developing and delivering culturally responsive services such as adult literacy, ESL, digital skills, citizenship, workforce readiness, and access to community resources through the bridge libraries while collaborating with library staff, educators, nonprofits, and volunteers. English Second Language (ESL) Programming Coordinator (Overstrength)*

SJPL is seeking a passionate, community-focused, and experienced ESL Program Coordinator to lead, design, and implement high-quality programs and services that reflect the needs of San José’s diverse community. This role will be responsible for the coordination of citywide ESL programming, staff, volunteer and instructor training, community partnerships, and oversight of the California Library Literacy Services (CLLS) ESL grant. Resilience Corps Learning Pathway Specialist (Overstrength)*

The College and Career Pathways Unit is seeking a passionate and community-driven Literacy Program Specialist to manage, develop, enhance, and administer the Resilience Corps Learning Pathway program. This vital role focuses on supporting SJPL’s administrative responsibilities associated with the state grant-funded program, including data collection and management. The position will also oversee the worksite experience of participants within the workforce development program who are assigned to SJPL as their worksite and act as a liaison with key community partners. The City of Sunnyvale is seeking two Senior Applications Analysts in the Information Technology Department. These positions are intended for support and enhancements of our Oracle Cloud ERP & HCM applications. In addition the positions will assume primary and secondary support roles for multiple enterprise systems including system configuration, reporting and interfaces, day-to-day operational issues, break/fix, configuration, maintenance, upgrades, and on-call rotations.

The ideal candidate will have experience with supporting HCM or Financial systems, preferably an integrated ERP/HCM system, ideally Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications.  Our Oracle Cloud ERP modules include General Ledger, Fixed Assets, Procure to Pay, Inventory Management, Accounts Receivable and Project Portfolio Management, and HCM includes Core HR, Benefits, Absence, Time and Labor and Payroll; the position will provide a strong techno-functional foundation to other team members.  The candidate we seek will be detail-oriented, able to create and edit documentation, and understand technical complexities involved in functional configuration, integration, interface, and report development with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely with end users.

Join San Bruno Community Services, Parks Department as a Lead Maintenance Worker! 

The Community Services Department is committed to providing quality programs, services, and spaces to benefit the health and well-being of the community. Within Community Services, the Parks Maintenance Division is responsible for the maintenance of all City’s outdoor recreation sites, including 20 parks covering 68 acres, 6 baseball fields, 128 acres of open space, all City owned facilities, over 7 miles of medians, and one dog park. 
 

Under the supervision of the Parks Field Supervisor, the Parks Lead Maintenance Worker performs a variety of skilled tasks and complex assignments in maintenance, repair, and construction work. The Lead Maintenance Worker is a working supervisor position. The position exercises direct supervision over crews engaged in service, maintenance, and repair. Work assignments may also involve considerable skill in various construction and mechanical crafts and the operation of heavy construction and maintenance equipment. 

CORE DUTIES

Examples of duties may include, but are not limited to:

• Assigns and reviews work of Maintenance Workers I/II and seasonal staff; trains, supervises, and reviews work of assigned staff; provides input into performance evaluations and performance issues.

• Inspects and repairs equipment at frequent intervals to ensure that all aspects of the systems are safe and functioning properly; maintains a variety of records relating to inspections, maintenance activity, materials supply, athletic field layouts and surfaces, base positioning and installation, and layouts of field markings.

• Determines and marks the locations of irrigation system wiring and water lines from the appropriate sources prior to excavation.

• Responds to complaints and resolves problems regarding functional areas such as tree conditions, ball field conditions irrigation system problems, park, building and ball field lighting, water leaks, parks facility issues.

• Ensures the proper maintenance of equipment and tools assigned to their area of responsibility by checking equipment and tools and maintaining maintenance records, and refers defects to supervisory staff.

• Safely operates vehicles/equipment of various sizes and weights in the loading, hauling and unloading of various equipment, soil and sand, concrete, performance of tree work; and other job functions; operates pneumatic tools and power tools.

• Oversees and participates in construction and maintenance projects as part of a crew, including laying pipe, trenching and backfilling, determines safety and playability of sports fields and reports information to their supervisor, prunes trees and shrubs in conformance with established professional practices and safe working methods.

• Applies pesticides and utilizes best Integrated Pest Management practices for assigned areas of responsibility.

• Performs set up of traffic safety work zones utilizing traffic safety control devices as needed for work performed in areas such as medians, right-of ways, streets, and parks.

• Performs other duties as assigned. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of education, experience, and training that would provide the best qualified candidates. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be a high school diploma or GED, and two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience performing field maintenance work similar to that of a Maintenance Worker II with the City of San Bruno. 

HIGHLY DESIRABLE

• Possession of a valid California Class B driver’s license. 

• Possession of a Qualified Pesticide Applicators Certificate. 

In addition, the ideal candidate possesses the following competencies:

The City of San Bruno Public Library is currently recruiting for a part-time, temporary Library Assistant—Homework Center Supervisor. Candidates must be able to commit from September 2025 to June 2026, for 17 hours per week and availability Monday 2-6PM, Tuesday 2-6PM, Wednesday 1-6PM and Thursday 2-6PM (with the exception of Library and San Bruno Park School District holidays). Although this is a ten-month position, the program is ongoing. Under the direction of the Library Services Manager, the Library Assistant—Homework Center Supervisor is responsible for the daily operations of the Library's after-school Homework Center, including classroom management, homework help, supervising and training volunteers, collaborating with library staff, and maintaining
accurate records of homework center attendance. The incumbent will be responsible for
maintaining a welcoming place for students to do their homework effectively within the larger context of the library, and for planning STEAM weekly activities and training/supervising students in the use of the 3-D printer. The homework center is a free, drop-in, after-school program for children in kindergarten through eighth grade.
 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

These services are provided through various Mobile Clinic modalities and venues, including but not limited to street medicine, shelter medicine, and the mobile coach. We are looking for collaborative Nurse Practitioners to work in and lead various multidisciplinary service teams in the field to provide comprehensive, low-threshold, client-centered care and engagement.

Teams are staffed by a Nurse Practitioner (NP), Psychiatrist, Medical Services Assistant, AOD Case Manager, and Patient Services Assistants. These teams work closely with our community partners from the Human Services Agency and community-based organizations who locate and identify clients needing medical and/or mental health services, as well as provide additional health, housing, and social services in the field.

Under general supervision, Nurse Practitioners provide urgent care and primary health care services such as physical examinations, chronic disease management (e.g., diabetes and hypertension), and referrals/linkages to specialty clinics as appropriate.

Currently, Public Health Clinics has one full-time, regular, 40-hour-per-week vacancy for a bilingual Spanish Nurse Practitioner and two 40-hour-per-week, Limited-Term Nurse Practitioner vacancies, requiring flexible schedules and field-based work at different locations. Sixty-five percent of the NP’s time will be in the field, with the remainder spent in the office documenting notes, placing orders, and coordinating with other staff as needed.

The ideal candidate has experience:

• In family practice addressing chronic disease management

• In the diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted infections

• Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams

• With the underserved population, including those who are homeless

• In a flexible, dynamic work environment

• With electronic medical records

• Using Spanish in a medical context

Examples of Duties

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Provide low-threshold, comprehensive care for San Mateo County’s most marginalized and vulnerable populations, including people experiencing homelessness, those in shelters, migrant and immigrant farmworkers, the recently incarcerated, the uninsured, and those with financial challenges.

• Provide comprehensive and urgent care in a variety of non-traditional settings, including homeless encampments, outdoor locations, shelters, and a mobile RV clinic.

• Demonstrate the ability to work closely and collaboratively with a small team in often challenging environments (e.g., homeless encampments, shelters, extreme weather, individuals under the influence, or those with mental health challenges).

• Take stewardship of medical care for assigned geographic populations and/or shelters.

• Outreach to and build long-term, trust-based relationships with vulnerable populations.

• Assess patients’ physical, emotional, and social status through medical history, physical examinations, and diagnostic screenings; evaluate clinical findings and lab results.

• Identify and manage common illnesses and other health problems.

• Refer urgent issues beyond scope to appropriate specialists.

• Deliver longitudinal care in assigned areas.

• Collaborate with other health professionals following protocols for diagnosis and treatment.

• Build relationships with community partners to improve health outcomes and expand services.

• Counsel families regarding health maintenance and care.

• Coordinate referrals to other health or social agencies.

• Maintain accurate records of assessments, follow-ups, and evaluations.

• Supervise subordinate health workers and participate in meetings.

• Actively participate in quality improvement efforts.

• Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.

• Education: Completion of an advanced nursing degree from a program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC), with emphasis in a Nurse Practitioner specialty area.

• Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of paid experience in an acute and/or ambulatory care setting.

Licensure

• California Registered Nurse license

• California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) Nurse Practitioner license

• California BRN Furnishing Number

• DEA Number

For OB-GYN assignments, a Nurse Practitioner license may be substituted with a Nurse Midwife License and at least one certification in women’s health.

Special Certification (depending on assignment)

• Family: Primary health care for patients of all ages

• Geriatric: Primary health care for older patients
