The City of Patterson is recruiting for a Firefighter Paramedic.  This safety position will respond to fire alarms, emergency medical calls, traffic accidents, rescue and other emergency calls to protect life and property.  This position will also participate in trainings, drills, study activities and in the maintenance of the department apparatus, equipment and facilities.  Under the supervision of the Fire Engineer or Fire Captain, performs advanced life support (ALS) care to patients of medical emergencies and other medical procedures. San Mateo County Health's Public Health, Policy and Planning Division has exciting field-based opportunities for well-qualified and motivated Nurse Practitioners to provide both primary and urgent care to adults from vulnerable populations within our community—people experiencing homelessness and/or in shelters, monolingual Spanish speakers and other new immigrants, and those without insurance or underinsured. These services are provided through various Mobile Clinic modalities and venues, including but not limited to street medicine, shelter medicine, and the mobile coach. We are looking for collaborative Nurse Practitioners to work in and lead various multidisciplinary service teams in the field to provide comprehensive, low-threshold, client-centered care and engagement.

Teams are staffed by a Nurse Practitioner (NP), Psychiatrist, Medical Services Assistant, AOD Case Manager, and Patient Services Assistants. These teams work closely with our community partners from the Human Services Agency and community-based organizations who locate and identify clients needing medical and/or mental health services, as well as provide additional health, housing, and social services in the field.

Under general supervision, Nurse Practitioners provide urgent care and primary health care services such as physical examinations, chronic disease management (e.g., diabetes and hypertension), and referrals/linkages to specialty clinics as appropriate.

Currently, Public Health Clinics has one full-time, regular, 40-hour-per-week vacancy for a bilingual Spanish Nurse Practitioner and two 40-hour-per-week, Limited-Term Nurse Practitioner vacancies, requiring flexible schedules and field-based work at different locations. Sixty-five percent of the NP’s time will be in the field, with the remainder spent in the office documenting notes, placing orders, and coordinating with other staff as needed.

Education and Experience

The Civil Rights Analyst reports to the Manager, Civil Rights Programs and is responsible for supporting the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) and labor compliance programs with data entry, contract compliance, outreach, monitoring, and reporting. The position will primarily work for Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board (Caltrain) and the San Mateo County Transit District (SamTrans).

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Deputy Director will oversee department-wide administrative operations and strategic initiatives including organizational planning, program performance, budget development, financial accounting, procurement, contracting, human resources, recruitment, and other administrative functions. This role will supervise three staff members in the Operations Division and closely collaborate with other staff to achieve the Commission’s strategic goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Establish and implement departmental goals, policies, and strategic plans as directed by the Executive Director.

The qualified candidate will have:

• A four-year degree or an advanced degree from an accredited college or university, with a major or concentration in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.
• Certified Public Accountant, Certified Information Systems Auditor, or Certified Internal Audit certificates (highly desirable).
• A minimum of two years of responsible professional experience conducting complex audits, compliance reviews, and internal control assessments in accordance with professional auditing standards.

The Controller's Office mission is to promote the County's operational effectiveness and ensure its financial transparency and integrity by providing quality accounting, audit, and financial reporting services.

 

THE INTERNAL AUDIT DIVISION

The Division works to help safeguard County assets and reduce risks. This is accomplished by conducting independent operations and internal control audits to assist County management to improve operations and reduce risks related to County’s programs, functions, and information systems. Audits are conducted in accordance with the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) guidelines.

The Manager, Track & Structures reports to the Deputy Director of Infrastructure Engineering and is responsible for overseeing railroad track and structures engineering support for the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board (Caltrain)

Essential Functions & Duties:

Essential Functions:

• Acts as agency lead on matters related to track and structures.
• Oversee the track and structures engineering tasks for design/construction of Caltrain Capital and SOGR projects and provide technical support for planning on grade separation projects.
• Ensure the capital and maintenance projects comply with the contract agreement and implement the approved design for compliance with JPB standards and specifications. 
• Lead the advanced technical reviews of projects to assess constructability, examine design details, perform quantity audit, and recommend construction sequencing.
• Establish effective relationships and liaise with Caltrain operation contractors, consultants, internal departments, and other agencies (CPUC, FRA, UPRR, etc.) on railroad track and structures related to influence design and project development.
• Supervise staff.  Hire, mentor and take appropriate corrective and/or disciplinary action.  Ensure EEO policies and procedures are followed. Participate in selection of staff. Coordinate staff training and professional development. Establish performance objectives. Monitor and evaluate employee performance.

Examples of Essential Duties: 

• Plan, develop and implement the group’s work plan, budget, goals, and objectives to be consistent with the Engineering Department’s goals.
• Manage the design review of project documentation such as drawings, basis of design, specifications, technical reports, and calculations for compliance with Caltrain Standards and for cost effectiveness of the design. 
• Lead development of potential solutions to the design/construction team and presents for design optimization, risk management challenges, and constructability improvements.
• Assist with Maintenance Department to develop the annual and long-term railroad track engineering and maintenance plans, coordinate these plans with capital projects and support to implement the plans.
• Review and provide technical input for capital and maintenance projects for compliance and cost effectiveness of the design.
• Perform QA reviews of RFIs and submittals as well as participate in change order review and final inspections to construction. 
• Ensure track and structures comply with all return-to-service requirements following all construction activities.
• Review and evaluate project specific designs and provide technical recommendations to design variance approval process.
• Responsible for Caltrain Bridge Management Program.
• Responsible for updates to Caltrain Engineering Standards.
• Train, motivate and monitor staff activities, provide direction, and to identify and resolve the problems.
• Provide 24/7 on-call construction and maintenance support.
• Perform all job duties and responsibilities in a safe manner to protect oneself, fellow employees and the public from injury or harm.  Promote safety awareness and follow safety procedures to reduce or eliminate accidents.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Professional Engineer's license.
• Five years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience of railroad design and engineering in a railroad, engineering firm, or public works agency with experience managing professional staff.
• Railroad structures projects design experience through all phases of design and construction.
• Experienced with AREMA, FRA and CPUC Standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Able to respond 24/7 to service and operational needs in a variety of weather and road conditions.
• Experienced with AREMA, FRA and CPUC Standards.
• Effective oral, written, and presentation communication skills.
• Possess a valid California driver license with safe driving record or able to obtain one within six months of hire.
