Under direction of the Superintendent of Facility and Equipment and/or Chief Laborer, performs general labor and janitorial duties for routine maintenance and repair of District buildings, roadways and facilities.

Essential Responsibilities

•  Sets up lane closures and diversions for crews working on roadway.
• Cleans and repairs roadways, installs pavement markers and signs.
• Cleans drains on Bridge roadway, approaches and anchorages; sidewalks on Bridge and approaches, drainage ditches, parking lots, anchorages and pylons, shops, public restrooms, painters' locker room, bus stops, vault and toll booths; and picks up garbage.
• Assists Carpenters, Cement Masons and Gardeners in performing their duties.
• Assists other maintenance crafts in removing asphalt pavement or concrete, excavation and backfilling and repair of asphalt pavement and concrete structures.
• Moves office furniture as required.
• Drives equipment.
• Landscaping and trimming/cutting trees.
• Operates chainsaw, weed eater, leaf blower, lawnmower, street sweeper and scrubber.
• Knows and follows the safety and health rules and safe working practices applicable to his or her job.
• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with District employees, customers, vendors and all others contacted during the course of work using principles of excellent customer service.
• Performs additional related duties as assigned

Join the City of San Bruno Community Services Department, Parks Division as a Parks Maintenance Technician I/II (Tree Maintenance Technician I/II)

The Community Services Department is committed to providing quality programs, services, and spaces to benefit the health and well-being of the community. Within Community Services, the Parks Maintenance Division is responsible for the maintenance of all City’s outdoor recreation sites, including 20 parks covering 68 acres, 6 baseball fields, 128 acres of open space, all City owned facilities, over 7 miles of medians, and one dog park.   

Under the supervision of the Parks Field Supervisor, the Parks Maintenance Technician
performs semi-skilled, skilled and administrative work within Parks Division in areas such as general carpentry, electrical or plumbing repair, irrigation system installation, tree trimming, tree removal, root removal, the planting and care of new trees, and the care and maintenance of all related equipment. 

CORE DUTIES 

Examples of duties may include, but are not limited to: 

• Plans, carries out and evaluates preventive maintenance schedules for all designated mechanical equipment, either personally, or through outside vendors.  

• Inspects, diagnoses, and performs major and minor repair work on motors, hydraulic equipment, compressors, controls, valves and related equipment.  

• Operates a variety of diagnostic instruments and a variety of hand, electric, and air- driven tools. Tests, troubleshoots, services and repairs mechanical equipment.  

• Inspects, adjusts and replaces necessary units and related parts in the performance of repair and maintenance work.  

• Fabricates and modifies parts and equipment as necessary. 

• Evaluates status of mechanical equipment, and performs or schedules needed repairs. Provides emergency field assistance to disabled equipment as needed and appropriate.  

• Assists in the preparation of bid specifications for equipment.  

• Maintains records, prepares reports and other specialized maintenance records of equipment. 

• Operates aerial lift truck, brush chippers, stump grinders and chainsaws and related hydraulic pruning equipment.  

• Identifies tree pests, disease and structural weakness, removes diseased, dead or excess limbs, branches or trees.  

• As required, trims trees from the ground and with the use of aerial lift devices, picks up trimmings or wood and loads into truck, debris box or brush chipper for disposal.  

• Climbs and trims trees using ropes and saddle or other equipment.  

• Sets up rigging, slings and lines for lowering cut limbs and branches. Plants, stakes and installs new trees. 

• Performs lamp replacement on sports field lighting fixtures. 

• Performs other duties as assigned.  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be: Parks Maintenance Technician I Graduation from high school or GED equivalent with possession of technical training in a specialized field of maintenance. Two (2) years of increasingly responsible repair and maintenance experience. Parks Maintenance Technician II Graduation from high school or GED equivalent with possession of technical training in a specialized field of maintenance. Four (4) years of increasingly responsible repair and maintenance experience. 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS  

Possession of a valid Class "B" Commercial Driver's License, or ability to successfully obtain prior to completion of probationary period; and Specialized certifications for functional work areas required:  

When assigned as a Tree Maintenance Technician I/II:  

Utility Line Clearance Certification, or ability to successfully obtain prior to completion of probationary period.  

Tree Worker Certification from the International Society of Arboriculture, or ability to successfully obtain prior to completion of probationary period (Tree Technician II only).  

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED  

Motorized vehicles such as pick-up, utility van, aerial and/or dump trucks; traffic control devices; mobile or portable radio; telephone; personal computer; hand tools; power tools; ropes, pulleys, winches; safety apparatus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee may be required to work night, early morning, or weekend hours, depending on workload factors, in addition to normally scheduled work hours.  

Employee is subject to call back after hours, weekend assignment and to respond to emergency situations on a 24-hour basis, seven days per week in addition to normally scheduled work hours.  

The noise level in the work environment can range from moderately quiet to loud.

Position Summary

The Bridge Patrol Officer works in a fast paced and dynamic 24/7 department with 36 team members to ensure the efficient and effective daily operation and security of the Golden Gate Bridge and associated facilities. Responsibilities include critical infrastructure security, roadway and visitor safety, crisis intervention and suicide prevention, emergency roadway services, traffic management, parking enforcement, revenue collection, and customer service.  The Bridge Patrol Officer serves as a customer contact and organizational ambassador for persons who drive, walk and bicycle the Golden Gate Bridge on a daily basis.

Essential Responsibilities

• Patrols the Bridge and surrounding areas using patrol cars, bicycles, and motorized scooters for the purpose of providing security, suicide prevention/apprehension, and to provide assistance to the public
• Responds to all incidents on the Bridge and its approaches, such as accidents, attempted suicides, body retrieval from the South Tower moat and other areas near the Bridge
• Responds to medical emergencies and first- aid calls
• Enforces District ordinances and regulations on the Bridge and surrounding areas and on other District property
• Conducts preliminary investigations of motor vehicle accidents, suicides, and any other reportable incidents that occur on the Bridge or surrounding area
• Checks the District buildings for physical security
• Coordinates with the California Highway Patrol and other law enforcement agencies when needed

Senior Civil Engineer duties and responsibilities:

The Associate Civil Engineer will perform complex engineering work in the provision of office and engineering support and field engineering support for environmental, water, sewer, street, and other Public Works projects and programs ensuring technical competence and compliance with all current codes and criteria as required; will
to serve as a Project Manager in the Engineering Section.

Associate Civil Engineer duties and responsibilities:

• Review private project development plans for compliance with codes, regulations, standards, and compliance with approved City master plans.
• Evaluate transportation, traffic and other public works related impacts related to private projects.
• Make recommendations for conditions of approval. 
• Provides technical engineering information to other City staff, agencies, engineers, consultants, contractors and the public. 
• Serve as technical lead for design efforts, projects, and engineering review. 
• Serve as engineer of record for designs.
• Coordinate and/or undertake the development of the City Transportation Improvement Program (T.I.P.), Comprehensive Plan, Comprehensive Water Plan, the Capital Improvement Program (C.I.P.), Pavement Management System and other programs involving the municipal infrastructure.
• Determine and apply applicable codes, regulations, and requirements for assigned projects.
• Develop project scope and selection criteria and manage consultant selection process if one is utilized.
• Coordinate the preparation of, or develops, engineering plans, specifications, and estimates for complex public works projects.

• Coordinate required advertising for bids, reviews construction bids and makes necessary recommendations based on lowest and best bids, competency of vendors and consultants, and the selection criteria. 

• Provide project management for the construction of the municipal public works projects. 

• Inspect and oversee assigned projects to ensure contractor compliance with contract documents, schedules, and budget parameters for the project. 

• Assure accurate as-built records of projects, and coordinates warranty and training issues for a smooth transition to the operation and maintenance programs.
• Coordinate the preparation of, or develops, reviews and updates the sanitary sewer, water, storm drainage, and street system maps, databases and comprehensive plans.
• Manage the engineering library and infrastructure records. 
• Maintain and update city subdivision and public works standards.
• Respond to public or other inquiries relative to engineering policies and procedures on specific projects and other information. Evaluate issues and options regarding municipal public works and makes recommendations.
• Issue and administer utility permits, street use permits, franchise utility permits, etc.
• Maintain regular contact with consulting engineers, construction project engineers, city, County, State and Federal agencies, professional and technical groups ante the general public regarding division activities and services. 
• Prepare and administers grant applications.
• Prepare traffic, utility and other studies and reports.
• Write memoranda, prepares reports, and make presentations to Planning Commission, Complete Streets Committee, City Council and other bodies as necessary.
• Perform and assist in survey work. 
• Provide engineering support for other city departments.
• Coordinate sidewalk inspection, maintenance and enforcement. 
• Monitor inter-governmental actions affecting public works.
• Assist in the training of other city personnel in public works design and construction techniques.
• May serve on and/or provide technical and support staff assistance to various City commissions and task forces.

The City of San Bruno Fire Department offers an exciting opportunity to serve as a Fire Cadet. Our one-year Fire Cadet program is an unpaid, volunteer work experience program that offers hands-on training, and introductory knowledge of firefighting skills, fire service tools and equipment. Cadets respond to emergency calls, render Basic Life Support and participate in training, and participate in the daily station duties.

Cadets must be willing to commit to 24-hour shifts, two to four times per month. The cadet program is one year in length. Upon completion, this program meets the manipulative training and experience requirements in obtaining a California State Fire Marshal’s Office Firefighter II certification.

• Experience/interest in risk assessments, crisis assessments, and triage.
• Knowledge of principles, techniques and trends in counseling, psychotherapy, clinical case management, crisis management as well as evidence-based practices. 
• Demonstrated ability or interest in working with a broad range of clients from diverse cultures, and backgrounds, and an ability to provide culturally appropriate clinical services. 
• Experience/interest in working in rural communities and/or migrant and seasonal farm working population. 

• Experience/interest in working collaboratively with primary care, psychiatry, and school districts. 
• Experience/interest in generating community referrals and helping clients to connect with those community resources.

Minimum qualifications include: 

Licensure/Certification:

• Psychiatric Social Worker I: Registration with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as an Associate Clinical Social Worker.  If an individual is not registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as an Associate Clinical Social Worker at the time of hire, they must have submitted the application, and must obtain and provide the registration number within 90 days of hire.  An individual hired in this classification must become licensed within six years from the date of employment as a Clinical Social Worker issued by the State of California within three years of appointment.
• Psychiatric Social Worker II:  Current California license as a Clinical Social Worker.

• Marriage and Family Therapist I:  Registration with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. If an individual is not registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist at the time of hire, they must have submitted the application, and must obtain and provide the registration number within 90 days of hire.  An individual hired in this classification must become licensed within six years from the date of employment as a Marriage and Family Therapist in the State of California.

The Air District is currently accepting applications for the position of Air Quality Specialist I/II in the Source Test Section. This is an open recruitment for one (1) full-time, represented position.

The Source Test Section performs source emission tests at regulated facilities for compliance determination, emission factor development, and information gathering. Facilities that are commonly tested include petroleum refineries, power plants, manufacturing facilities, wastewater treatment plants, landfills, and gasoline dispensing facilities. The section also provides regulatory oversight for facility continuous emission monitoring system (CEMS) operation, facility contracted source testing, and special testing or measurement projects. 

This role will be tasked with field, shop, and office source test program duties, including, but not limited to, equipment preparation/maintenance/repair, instrument and device calibration, inventory management, special project management, field testing, assembly/fabrication, records management, warehouse equipment operation, data reduction, and report preparation.

Position Summary

Under the general direction of the Director of Engineering and Maintenance (Director), the Ferry Maintenance Manager will provide leadership and direction to the Ferry Maintenance Team, support vessel operations and District objectives. The Ferry Maintenance Manager will assure the vessels are operated to the highest standards. This includes supervision of all fleet maintenance and repair, compliance with regulatory issues and administering cost control measures. The Maintenance Manager is responsible for scheduling all work activities related to the Ferry Division Maintenance Mechanics, managing all aspects of the Ferry Division’s maintenance program, providing timely reports to the Director on vessel performance, spare parts, and equipment reliability. The Ferry Maintenance Manager will comply with safety policies and champion safety initiatives.

Essential Responsibilities

• Manages Ferry Division maintenance staff on a day-to-day basis including scheduled work orders, vessel’s operational needs, vacation, sick, emergency leave and all time cards.
• Works with the Director to inspect Ferry division assets to develop the maintenance plans.
• Develops long term plans that will feed work into the daily work plan.
• Oversees quality of maintenance work on the Ferry Division’s vessels, facilities, and terminals
• Works with the shift leads and procurement staff to ensure all materials needed to complete scheduled work are available as needed to support the schedule.
• Manages subcontractors working on Ferry Division assets. Responsible for working with the Director and the procurement staff to ensure all subcontracting and materials are procured as per the District guidelines.
• Reviews vessel write-ups and maintenance staff feedback to identify future maintenance needs and campaign work required to ensure the highest level of reliability
• Reports discipline problems to the Director of Engineering & Maintenance to determine course of action.  
• Performs quality control inspections of all maintenance work, subcontractor and shipyard work. The quality of the mechanic’s work shall be the Maintenance Manager’s sole responsibility. Subcontractor and shipyard quality control shall be a shared responsibility with the Director at the direction of the Director.
• Evaluates mechanic’s skills, knowledge and performance for use in identifying training needs and yearly reviews given by the Director
• Manages the Ferry Division’s maintenance planning system in all aspects such that accurate records of maintenance work, including employee time and materials, are captured for future planning
• Manages all aspects of communication with mechanics between shifts to the Director and to Operations.
• Consistent with industry practices and mechanic’s safety manual, ensure that all maintenance work is completed following established safe working practices utilizing the proper PPE for all mechanics and subcontractors.

• Works with operation’s staff to troubleshoot, identify problems and provide resources to resolve issues that affect safe vessel operations.
• Manages the use of materials from the storerooms charged out to work orders so that inventory is kept accurate as required by procurement guidelines.
• Closely manages and keeps the Director and Operations Department apprised of all situations that affect a vessels usage. Any deficiency that could possibly bedeemed a “no sail” item by the United States Coast Guard (USCG) shall be closely managed with all involved parties updated as required to have the least impact on operations.
• In conjunction with the Director, determines when and where vessels will be removed from service so that work can be scheduled accordingly.
• On-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week as required to support operations, frequently required to be onsite two weekend days per month.
• Ensures that employees under his or her supervision follow established safe work practices and obey all safety rules.
• Knows and follows the safety and health rules and safe working practices applicable to his or her job.
• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with District employees, customers, vendors and all others contacted during the course of work using principles of excellent customer service.
• Performs additional related duties as assigned. 
• Regular and reliable attendance and performance are required.
