Position Summary: 

The Fitness Instructor/Personal Trainer plays a key role in providing essential fitness instruction and personalized training programs to help individuals achieve their health and fitness goals. The responsibilities include instructing group fitness classes, offering personal training sessions, designing customized fitness programs for clients, ensuring safe and effective exercises, motivating and encouraging participants, providing feedback and adjustments to exercises, and monitoring clients' progress for continuous improvement. This role will also be providing excellent customer service, addressing fitness-related inquiries, maintaining a positive and motivating environment for everyone, and ensuring the fitness facility is clean, safe, and fully operational. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

• Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.  

• Certification in personal training or group fitness instruction required (e.g., ACE, NASM, or other recognized certification).  

• At least one year of experience in fitness instruction, personal training, or a related field preferred.  

• Experience in group instruction and one-on-one training is highly desirable. 

Knowledge and Skills: 

This position requires a knowledge of general fitness principles, exercise techniques, and wellness practices, instructing and motivating individuals or groups in a fitness setting, excellent communication to provide clear instruction and positive feedback and assessing client needs and creating individualized fitness programs. The position also requires ability to operate and maintain fitness equipment safely. 

Special Requirements: 

• Current certification in First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). 

• Fitness certifications (e.g., Personal Trainer, Group Fitness Instructor) from a nationally recognized organization. 

POSITION SUMMARY

The Wildfire Resilience Coordinator will manage projects related to the overall MRCA efforts regarding wildfire resilience, including tracking and analyzing existing funding sources related to wildfire preparedness and response, supporting staff project as defined by the early action wildfire resilience plan, coordinating with other MRCA and SMMC staff members working on wildfire related projects and programs, preparing and documenting further regional needs.

This position requires a highly motivated, responsible, organized and self-starting individual who can handle an array of tasks at the same time as part of standard workload, has good judgment and can make decisions, and works well independently and as part of a small team.

This is professional and technical work pursuant to the terms of grants, contracts, and applicable regulations, involving frequent communication with others. Project managers must also build community and political support, seek funding opportunities, actively cooperate with other government agencies and non­profit organizations, and keep abreast of related planning processes. The work performed will support MRCA’s capital Workprogram for wildfire resilience including improvements, workforce development, ignition prevention and suppression, inspection and monitoring and structure hardening and other MRCA efforts related to public access, open space conservation, habitat restoration, and urban park development. Special projects assigned or led by the Chief of Staff will be supported by this position.

This is a full-time, non-exempt, at-will position.

Supervision

This position reports to the Deputy Chief of Staff. Assorted tasks may be supervised by Executive Staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.

• Implement multiple projects simultaneously: The project manager is the central point of contact on all issues concerning assigned projects and will be responsible for project quality. Perform project tracking, scheduling, and budget management.
• Coordinate between MRCA divisions to track agency-wide wildfire resilience efforts and guide the agency towards accomplishment of big picture wildfire resilience priorities.
• Perform day-to-day administration of grants, prepare required reports and ensure conformance with grant agreements. Analyze, verify and obtain payment approvals for invoices.
• Interagency coordination: Coordinate with Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy grantees to perform tracking and data management on wildfire resilience grants.
• Coordinate with Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy, its grantees, and regional stakeholders to advance wildfire resilience efforts in Southern California.
• Determine project scope, options, and alternatives to overcome constraints. Revise as often as needed to address unexpected conditions.
• Demonstrate proactivity to initiate and drive projects, leveraging past experiences, consulting with colleagues, and referencing relevant documentation to successfully launch and manage projects without established precedents.
• Oversee consultants and contractors, manage contracts, coordinate project team and collaborate with coworkers to ensure that the project scope is completed according to grant agreements, schedules, and cost limits. Assist in selection of consultants/contractors.
• Write and coordinate grant proposals and research new funding opportunities for wildfire resilience and workforce development related planning efforts.
• Cooperate with other team members to accomplish project goals; provide support to coworkers on other projects.
• Produce written materials including staff reports, text for publication, proposals, progress reports, and a variety of other documents.
• Write comprehensive reports based on samples, summarizing and analyzing information to provide clear conclusions in the sample's format and style
• Maintain positive relationships with coworkers, representatives of other government agencies, non-profit organizations, homeowner's associations, and the public at large.
• Other projects as directed by Chief of Staff.
• Perform related duties as required.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to remain in a stationary position, occasionally move about inside the office to access supplies and office machinery, frequently communicate and exchange information, review handwritten, electronic and facsimile documents, observe site conditions, and operate a computer and other office productivity machinery. Occasionally work in outdoor weather conditions and move between multiple work sites. The employee must occasionally move items weighing up to 20 pounds inside the office.

Required Hours And Location

Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week with some scheduling flexibility. Occasional overtime work in evenings or weekends upon prior approval by supervisor. The position will work remotely and out of the Los Angeles River Center and Gardens but may be required to travel to various other locations. Offices at the River Center are spread among multiple buildings and floors.

Public Contact

As public parklands, the majority of MRCA properties are open to the general public during operating hours. This position will have contact with members of the public in public areas such as parking lots and shared public/office restrooms, and during public meetings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

Knowledge of:

Position Summary

Under the general direction of the Senior Information Systems Manager, this position provides system support during implementation and ongoing support after implementation including report writing, configuration, routine inquiries and user support for the District’s various enterprise technology systems including UKG Pro Workforce Management Time & Attendance and Central Square Technologies Finance Enterprise.   The Business Information Systems Engineer works with end-users, vendors, and members of the Information Systems Department to identify, analyze, and resolve systems issues and provide maximum capability and satisfaction to users.

Position Summary

Under general direction of the Secretary of the District, performs complex and highly analytical work for the Secretary of the District, members of the Board of Directors and associated committees.   Departmental lead on government tort claims, legal documents and communications and participating in complex, sensitive, and detailed analytical work in the areas of budgets, historical preservation and economic, regulatory and administrative policy. Essential Responsibilities

• Serves as the primary analytical support to the District Secretary;
• Interprets meeting proceedings and prepares draft meeting minutes, with minimal oversight and as assigned, may attend meetings in the absence of the District Secretary;
• Performs legal functions of the office and guidance to office staff in the absence of the District Secretary;
• Performs a wide variety of complex legal analysis, research and briefings about claims for the District, Bridge, Bus and Ferry Divisions, and works with legal counsel in the areas such as government tort claims, subpoenas, Brady requests, small claims and lawsuits;

• Perform special studies for the District, and coordinates assigned activities with other District departments, and divisions, and outside entities;
• Independently responds to and resolves difficult and sensitive citizen inquiries and complaints;
• Coordinates and assists in the development of the annual budgets of the Board and District Secretary’s Office and monitors, reviews and approves department expenditures, and performs financial analysis for budgetary purposes;
• Assists the District Secretary with providing direct support in varied, analytical administrative projects related to the Board and its committees;

• Oversees newspaper advertisements for public hearings/meetings;
• Monitors activities and ensures maintenance of files related to insurance and accident claim matters to fulfill department records retention schedule;
• Engages with a wide variety of District representatives including the Board of Directors, Executive Team, mid-managers and staff in a wide variety of roles including those engaged in specialized trades;

Position Summary

This position demands a wide range of technical skills. Under the direction of the Communications Electronics Supervisor, this position provides technical support for the communications, access control, video and electronics control system in place throughout the District. The Communications Electronics Technician installs, maintains, test and repairs electronics communications system located at various District facilities from San Francisco to Santa Rosa. These include, but is not limited to, P25 trunked radio system, microwave equipment, video cameras and management system, access control system, programmable logic controllers, fiber optics and network communications equipment. The position is also involved in the installation and maintenance of communication and fiber optic cabling systems. 

Essential Responsibilities

• Installs and maintains the following: P25 trunked radio system, access control system, video management system, programmable logic controllers and associated controls, microwave equipment, public address systems, telephone lines and fiber optic cables
• Installs, tests, and maintains electronic and two-way radio equipment in Buses, Ferries, District vehicles and facilities, and radio sites
• Setups and services access control system, including card readers, electromechanical locks, gate controllers and associated software
• Installs and maintains video surveillance system, including cameras, servers and management software
• Installs and maintains different computer aided equipment such as radio dispatch consoles, access control monitoring, video management system, & distributed control system for PLC
• Tests, troubleshoots and repairs fiber optic using OTDR and splice equipment
• Installs, configures and maintains servers, database and network equipment such as routers and switches
• Performs regular, preventive maintenance and documents system and equipment repairs, modifications and changes
• Assists in the design, fabrication and modification of electronics communications equipment
• Updates and corrects manufacturers' documentation to increase maintenance and repair efficiency
• Knows and follows the safety and health rules and safe working practices applicable job
• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with District employees, customers, vendors and all others contacted during the course of work using principles of excellent customer service.
• Performs additional related duties as assigned
• Regular and reliable attendance and performance is required

Minimum Qualifications

Education and/or Experience: 

• Associate’s degree in Electronics, Communications Technology or completion of electronics, communications technology certification program 
• Minimum of four years of experience as Communications Electronic Technician working with P25 radio system, access control, video surveillance, PLCs and similar technologies 
• FCC General Radio Operator License (GROL) license preferred

Required License: 

Must possess and maintain a current and satisfactory driving record. No reckless driving and DUI within the last 7 years. No more than 2 moving violations within the last 3 years. Operates District vehicles on a regular basis.

Physical Requirements:

Must be available for emergency repair call backs. Must be able to work outside in inclement weather. Able to lift up to 50 lbs. Able to climb towers, bridge main cables, radio antenna towers and structural steel. Must be able to bend and crawl in small areas to install security equipment requiring bending and reaching. Put arms, hands, and fingers into narrow openings. Exposure to exhaust fumes, noise, and sharp edges. May encounter reptiles, spiders and venomous species at remote radio sites.

This position may have a potential for or actual exposure to lead. Pursuant to OSHA regulations, District employees are not exposed to lead at concentrations greater than 10 micrograms per cubic meter (µg/m3) of air averaged over an 8-hour period.

Hours of Operation:

Monday - Friday, subject to 24-hour call back and monthly rotational on-calls. Must go to all District locations, including Bridge Towers, Bus Depot, Ferry Piers, remote mountain tops, etc.

GENERAL INFO

Under general supervision, the Recreation Leader I/II provides essential support to recreation programs and services by performing custodial tasks, event setup and teardown, program support, and minor maintenance duties at various facilities, including parks and community centers. This temporary, parttime position requires working up to 20 hours per week. The role involves ensuring the facilities are clean, safe, and operational while delivering excellent customer service. Performs other duties as assigned. 

UNIVERSAL POSITION DUTIES (Illustrative purposes only)

• Organize, inventory, and maintain facility materials and equipment.
• Assist in organizing and supervising recreational programs in any one or more of the following areas: children, adults, senior citizens, and participants with special needs at playgrounds, community centers, and other recreational areas.

· Keep score and use scoreboards for different sports: Basketball, volleyball, softball, badminton, etc.

· Keeps games moving, maintains game rules and manages game conflicts

· Strength is needed to lift and carry recreation equipment weighing up to 50 pounds for extended periods of time; and flexibility to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects

· Responsibilities include keeping score for youth, recreation, and middle school sporting events using various digital and analog forms of tracking methods

· Track score of youth sporting events via scoreboard technology or statistics booklet

· Organize, track and set-up specific sports equipment (i.e. volleyball poles and nets, basketball hoops and benches)

· Receives general supervision from the Youth and Adult Sports Coordinator

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

• Ability to use custodial and operational equipment, communicate effectively, and work independently.

Special Requirements

• Ability to obtain a current Driver’s License and clean driving record is preferred.
