About the Department

Position Duties

This recruitment is intended to fill one permanent Analyst I/II position.

The Budget Analyst position in the City Manager’s Office is responsible for operating and/or capital budgetary analysis assignments for a City Service Area (CSA) and several City departments, including assisting their assigned CSA/departments in the development of their operating/capital budgets; analysis of revenue and expenditure projections; coordination and presentation of budget information to the City Manager as appropriate; preparation of the City's annual Operating and/or Capital Budgets, Annual Report, Mid-Year Budget Review, and Fees and Charges Report; review of budget-related departmental requests; collaboration with departments to resolve budgetary issues; review of City Council memoranda for budget implications and appropriate budget language, if necessary; supporting performance measures tracking; conducting research on budget and policy-related matters; and special projects as assigned. The Position: 

Silicon Valley Power (SVP), the Electric Department of the City of Santa Clara, is seeking an experienced Senior Instrument and Controls Technician.  

The Senior Instrument and Control Technician is a senior level technical classification. The Position has a key role in the optimization of the Preventative Maintenance program and the development of SVP’s Maintenance philosophy. This classification performs maintenance and repair on all instruments, control systems, and electrical equipment in the City's power generation facilities.  The incumbent inspects, repairs, tests, adjusts, installs, and removes all power plant electrical, DCS/control, and instrumentation systems and equipment including:

• Monitors, maintain, and repairs gas turbine, steam turbine control systems, generators, transformers, and switchgear.
• Maintains, calibrates and repairs plant electrical, instrumentation, and control systems.
• Performs routine and advanced trouble shooting activities
• Maintains logs, manuals, records, drawings, schematics and operating procedures in a neat and professional manner.
• Provides written reports on control system conditions when required.

The Position: 

The Generation Technician performs the hands-on duties required to safely and efficiently operate and maintain the SVP Generation resources.  Under direction from the on-shift Sr. Generation Technician, the Generation Technician performs all manner of mechanical, electrical, and operational activities required for the City’s power generation facilities including:

 

• Controlling City power plants and monitoring remote hydroelectric facilities
• Responding to emergency situations and abnormal operations
• Repairing mechanical pumps, valves, compressors, boilers, HRSG auxiliaries, reduction gears, hydraulic systems, liquid and gas fuel systems, lube oil systems
• Repairing electrical systems, breakers, relays, meters, wiring, and motors
• Organizing and supervising contractors and employees in conducting scheduled and emergency shutdown work

 

Incumbents ensure that for all of the City of Santa Clara’s electric generation power plants that all of the systems and sub-systems are operated and maintained in an efficient, effective, and a safe manner. This is a journey-level classification in the heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration mechanic series.

ABOUT THE POSITION
If you are passionate about ensuring quality and safety in engineering projects and want to make a real difference in the community, we have an excellent opportunity for you. The City of Gilroy is currently recruiting a full-time Engineering Technician/Inspector at level I or II or III (depending on experience and qualifications) for the Engineering Division of the Public Works Department. The position will support the engineering staff with technical tasks for public works improvements, public works projects, and land development projects, and will entail a mix of technician and inspection duties. The goal of the Engineering Division is to promote a better quality of life for those who live, work, and visit the city of Gilroy through the provision of efficient engineering services and the creation of orderly growth and development within the city.

In addition to using green energy from large-scale wind, solar, geothermal and hydroelectric projects outside of the area, SVP employs innovative ways to locally produce electricity by capturing and burning methane gas from a closed city landfill and using power from solar generating systems on city-owned garages and vacant, unusable land. The Position: 

SVP is seeking Journey Line workers that have the ability to perform routine and emergency work maintaining and expanding SVP’s electric transmission and distribution system, including but not limited to: 
- Perform electrical installation and repair work and to construct and maintain overhead and underground electric distribution and transmission system; 
- Think and act appropriately and quickly in emergencies; 
- Maintain good public relations; 
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; 
- Work from electrical plans and detailed drawings; 
- Input data using computer programs for documenting electric facility maintenance and inspection findings; 
- Effectively train and supervise others; 
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions; 
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationship with those contacted in the course of work, including the general public; 
- Walk or stand for extended periods of time and bend, stoop, reach, carry, crawl, climb, and lift as necessary to perform assigned duties;

The annual salary range for this position is $174,855.60 - $223,586.16.  This position may be filled at or near the minimum of the salary range.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

- Graduation from high school or possession of a G.E.D.; and

- Completion of a recognized three-year apprenticeship program as a Lineworker is required.

LICENSE & CERTIFICATION

- Possession of a valid California Class A Driver's license is required, or

- Possession of a valid California Class C license at the time of appointment and the ability to obtain a California Class A license within six months of employment

- Incumbents in this position are required to become rubber glove certified as a condition of holding the classification of Journey Lineworker within nine (9) months of appointment.

The Town of Los Gatos is recruiting for an IT Technician to work in a dynamic, customer service-oriented and fast-paced environment where problem solving, attention to detail, multi-tasking, and strong communication skills are a must. The IT Technician installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and upgrades computer hardware, software, personal computer networks, peripheral equipment, and Town-wide electronic mail systems; assesses user training needs and trains users in effective use of applications; makes recommendations regarding hardware and software acquisitions; prepares documentation and provides user assistance to Town staff; and performs related work as required. This position will report to the IT Director. Schedule & Other Information: The IT Technician position is a temporary (up to 20 hours per week), at-will, non-benefited position limited to 999 hours of employment in a fiscal year (July 1 through June 30). This position is not eligible for a remote or hybrid work schedule.  

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Troubleshoots problems related to all local and wide area network systems, servers, firewall, computer workstations, operating and systems software; and data communications equipment.
• Assists in projects assigned, including equipment moves, change in departmental software or hardware, network systems and/or operating systems changes; coordinates schedules.
• Recommends and coordinates procurement, acquisition and support of computer hardware, software, voice and data communication systems and network security appliances.
• Installs computer workstations, servers, printers and peripherals.
• Installs,configures,andtroubleshootsofftheshelfsoftwareproducts.
• Provides technical support for Internet and Intranet applications.
• Responds to computer disruptions and failures.
• Schedules vendor maintenance and repair activities.
• Performs software reloads and upgrades for desktop computer systems.

• Provides user support regarding operational, system, equipment and software questions and problems, implements system-wide security measures, performs diagnosis of hardware problems.
• Provides support for critical systems such as public safety, financial management, geographic information system, and document management.

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying equivalent to an Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field such as computer science, information technology systems or a related field, and one year of experience in information systems and support.

Substitution: Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in information systems and support may substitute the required education and completion of high school or equivalent.  Experience substitutions are determined at the discretion of the Town of Los Gatos.
