These are seasonal grant-funded positions assigned to a 40-hour work week. This position is expected to be active from approximately May through November.  The actual start and end dates will be dependent on weather and snow conditions and may be extended beyond 6 months, but no more than 9 months from the employment start date.  The eligibility list established from this recruitment will be used to fill current and future vacancies. Successful applicants will serve an important role on the Fire Prevention team.

These positions are grant-funded, seasonal positions assigned to a 40-hour work week. These positions are returning to the fire district in 2025, and we’ll be hiring three people to operate the chipping crew.  This position is expected to be active from approximately May through November.  The actual start and end dates will be dependent on weather and snow conditions and may be extended beyond 6 months, but no more than 9 months from the employment start date.  The eligibility list established from this recruitment will be used to fill current and future vacancies.  

The Chipping Crew Members work under the direct supervision of the Division Chief of Fire and Life Safety or their designee.  

The primary purpose of this crew is to operate a residential chipping program for the local community. This includes responding to chipping requests, traveling to those addresses with a truck and chipper, chipping the material, ensuring a clean site upon leaving, potentially hauling and dumping the material at a temporary holding site, assisting with loading, and ensuring activities are adequately tracked. The applicant must be comfortable working in outdoor environments under varying weather conditions and lifting objects frequently up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.  Chipping crew members will also assist with community workdays utilizing the truck and chipper or assisting with cutting and hauling combustible materials and filling green waste dumpsters.

Under the direct supervision, performs a variety of difficult and complex professional officer and field engineering work; prepares plans, designs, and specifications for a variety of the Department of Public Works projects; reviews work prepared by outside consultants; prepares engineering reports; and performs related duties as assigned.

Full Time, Part Time, and/or Remote. Primary duty is to review and comment on plans, specifications, and estimates for capital improvement projects. Projects may include road, bridge, and airport improvements. Must live in California and possess a California Professional Civil Engineer License.

The City of Dixon is recruiting to fill a full-time position of a Community Service Officer I/II and to establish an Eligibility List for future use. Duties include a wide variety of professional law enforcement functions which do not require peace officer training, including youth services, crime prevention, records management, property and evidence management, information gathering and report writing, code enforcement, office support, operation of jail facilities and parking and traffic control.

Community Service Officer I: This is the entry level class in the Community Service Officer series.

Community Service Officer II: This is the full journey level class in the Community Service Officer series.

The City of Dixon is preparing for the 2025 Aquatic season and is recruiting qualified Lifeguard/ Swim Instructor I/II applicants.

Under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor and Senior Lifeguard/Swim Instructor, Lifeguard/Swim Instructor performs a variety of duties to ensure the City of Dixon swimming pool is a safe and enjoyable aquatic facility. Supervises pool patrons, enforces pool rules, performs first aid and emergency rescues, instructs swim lessons, performs cashiering duties, leads recreational activities; performs related and other work as required.

Staff may be expected to work weekends and on fixed holidays.  Those who work on a City Holiday will earn 1 1/2 times their base hourly salary.

This position is subject to random controlled substance testing and/or breath alcohol testing.

The County of Yuba is actively recruiting to fill current vacancies and establish an employment list for the position of Public Safety Dispatcher within the Sheriff’s Department.  The incumbent receives 9-1-1 system sheriff, fire, medical emergency and rescue calls; dispatches sheriff, fire and medical personnel following established procedures; maintains communication with officers in the field to ensure safety and provide back-up and information; provides relief coverage for the records unit; and performs related work as assigned. The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the position of Senior GIS Technician in the Community Development & Services Agency. This position provides lead direction and technical assistance to assigned staff and/or project management; performs a variety of technical office and field work duties that require specialized knowledge related to the creation and maintenance of maps, tables, graphs, and other geographic source data with the use of enterprise GIS, permitting, and asset management systems; provides technical support and queried data to department staff, other County departments, outside agencies, consultants, contractors, developers, and the public; and performs related work as assigned.

This position is the advanced journey lead/specialist level position that reports directly to the Public Works Director.

Examples of Duties:

• Provide direction and guidance as a lead worker regarding data collection and GIS utilization; may review the work of technical staff assigned to a variety of GIS duties; assist supervisor with training program and identifying training needs; provide staff training in the use of and applications of GIS information.  
• Perform accurate and timely updates to County GIS s files and data management records related to streets, sewer, water, and storm systems, asset inventory, plats, parcels, right-of-ways, easements, and data layers.
• Perform quality control checks to integrity of GIS data and applications; review and resolve conflicts in data; evaluate currency, usefulness, and completeness of data.
• Create, compose, modify, and edit GIS spatial and attribute data, export data for a variety of special projects.
• Produce maps, tables, and graphs for internal and external use; determine and execute the appropriate sequence of data processing tasks; use established GIS and permitting systems to query data and produce documents.
• Update and maintain GIS databases according to department’s policies and procedures; clean up data and make corrections in response to changes and additional data sets integrated into GIS.

The Dixon Police Department is opening positions for a Police Recruit to attend the Police Academy. The “Police Recruit” classification at the City of Dixon Police Department provides a unique opportunity for candidates to be sponsored through a P.O.S.T. certified basic academy during regular academy hours and any other scheduled departmental and academy exercise and activities.  Upon successfully completing the academy, Police Recruits shall be advanced to Police Officers and immediately begin the field training program to prepare them to function as solo officers.
