POSITION DESCRIPTION 
 

The City of San Bruno Community Services Departments is hiring for a Library Page position at the San Bruno Public Library. The Library Page position is an entry-level, part-time role with limited benefits. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in playing a key role in the library's daily operations. Candidates must have a flexible schedule and be available to work 14-19 hours per week, including weekdays, evenings, and Saturdays, to meet the library's scheduling needs.

 

Under the general supervision of library staff, Library Pages perform routine tasks to maintain the organization of the library collections, including the shelving, sorting, and filing of books, magazines, audiovisual materials, and other library materials. Pages also clean and mend library materials, help set-up for various Library programs, assist in the opening and closing of the Library building for public access, and perform other clerical tasks as needed.

 

This role is physically active and requires regular movement and exertion. The ideal candidate will be comfortable performing physical tasks for extended periods and working in a fast-paced environment. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
 

Knowledge of:
English language usage, spelling, grammar, alphabetization, basic arithmetic, and decimal order. 
 

Ability to: 
 

• Accurately file library materials in both numerical and alphabetical order.

• Perform physical tasks—including standing, walking, bending, squatting, stooping, reaching, climbing stairs, and lifting—throughout the workday

• Handle, lift, and transport library materials (up to 50 lbs), including fully loaded book carts.

• Learn and apply detailed procedures and library organization methods to ensure the timely and accurate completion of tasks.

Position Summary

Under the direction of the shift Supervisor, places and removes traffic tubes in roadway as needed for traffic diversion on Bridge and in Toll Plaza. Cleans and polishes District vehicles, cleans and services traffic tubes and restrooms, works varied hours and shifts, assists Shift Supervisor as needed and performs other duties as required.

Weekend & Holiday Shift Schedule (16-hour work week): 

• AM shifts: 6:00am – 2:00pm
• Swing Shifts: 1:30pm – 9:30pm

Essential Responsibilities

• Relocates traffic tubes for reversal of traffic on Bridge and in Plaza

• Cleans and polishes District vehicles and assist in servicing District vehicles

• Cleans and services restrooms

• Services Emergency Operations Vehicles on week ends

• Cleans and re-tapes traffic tubes

• Knows and follows the safety and health rules and safe working practices applicable to his or her job

• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with District employees, customers, vendors and all others contacted during the course of work using principles of excellent customer service.

San Mateo County Health's Public Health, Policy and Planning Division has exciting field-based opportunities for well-qualified and motivated Nurse Practitioners to provide both primary and urgent care to adults from vulnerable populations within our community—people experiencing homelessness and/or in shelters, monolingual Spanish speakers and other new immigrants, and those without insurance or underinsured. These services are provided through various Mobile Clinic modalities and venues, including but not limited to street medicine, shelter medicine, and the mobile coach. We are looking for collaborative Nurse Practitioners to work in and lead various multidisciplinary service teams in the field to provide comprehensive, low-threshold, client-centered care and engagement.

Teams are staffed by a Nurse Practitioner (NP), Psychiatrist, Medical Services Assistant, AOD Case Manager, and Patient Services Assistants. These teams work closely with our community partners from the Human Services Agency and community-based organizations who locate and identify clients needing medical and/or mental health services, as well as provide additional health, housing, and social services in the field.

Under general supervision, Nurse Practitioners provide urgent care and primary health care services such as physical examinations, chronic disease management (e.g., diabetes and hypertension), and referrals/linkages to specialty clinics as appropriate.

Currently, Public Health Clinics has one full-time, regular, 40-hour-per-week vacancy for a bilingual Spanish Nurse Practitioner and two 40-hour-per-week, Limited-Term Nurse Practitioner vacancies, requiring flexible schedules and field-based work at different locations. Sixty-five percent of the NP’s time will be in the field, with the remainder spent in the office documenting notes, placing orders, and coordinating with other staff as needed.

The ideal candidate has experience:

• In family practice addressing chronic disease management

• In the diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted infections

• Provide low-threshold, comprehensive care for San Mateo County’s most marginalized and vulnerable populations, including people experiencing homelessness, those in shelters, migrant and immigrant farmworkers, the recently incarcerated, the uninsured, and those with financial challenges.

• Provide comprehensive and urgent care in a variety of non-traditional settings, including homeless encampments, outdoor locations, shelters, and a mobile RV clinic.

• Take stewardship of medical care for assigned geographic populations and/or shelters.

• Identify and manage common illnesses and other health problems.

• Refer urgent issues beyond scope to appropriate specialists.

• Deliver longitudinal care in assigned areas.

• Collaborate with other health professionals following protocols for diagnosis and treatment.

• Build relationships with community partners to improve health outcomes and expand services.

• Counsel families regarding health maintenance and care.

• Coordinate referrals to other health or social agencies.

• Maintain accurate records of assessments, follow-ups, and evaluations.

• Supervise subordinate health workers and participate in meetings.

• Actively participate in quality improvement efforts.

• Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.

• Education: Completion of an advanced nursing degree from a program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC), with emphasis in a Nurse Practitioner specialty area.

• Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of paid experience in an acute and/or ambulatory care setting.

Licensure

• California Registered Nurse license

• California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) Nurse Practitioner license

• California BRN Furnishing Number

• DEA Number

The Procurement Specialist reports to the Manager, Materials and Inventory Controls and is responsible for the acquisition of bus parts, equipment, supplies, and maintenance services for the San Mateo County Transit District (SamTrans).

The Graphics Specialist (Graphic Designer) reports to the Manager, Creative Services, and is responsible for design layout, production of collaterals for publications on print, and digital communications for San Mateo County Transit (SamTrans), Peninsula Joint Powers Board (Caltrain), and the San Mateo County Transportation Authority (TA).

The Engineering Manager will report to the Director, Bus Infrastructure and Capital Projects and will be responsible for the engineering functions of the infrastructure and capital project development department for the San Mateo County Transit District (SamTrans). 

 

The Bus Infrastructure and Capital Projects Department oversees the delivery of major bus fleet and facilities infrastructure projects for SamTrans. The department’s projects include design and construction of zero emission infrastructure (battery electric bus (BEB) charging infrastructure and hydrogen fuel cell electric bus (FCEB) infrastructure) for SamTrans's revenue and non­revenue fleet of nearly 400 vehicles, sea level rise and flood mitigation structures, bus administration, transportation, and maintenance buildings, and other structures at SamTrans' North Base and South Base Maintenance Facilities.

• Manage consultants with technical expertise across multiple disciplines in conducting independent technical reviews of SamTrans’ infrastructure projects.
• Coordinate and collaborate closely with SamTrans project stakeholders.
• Provide documents and briefs to Executive Management and the Board on the status, progress, and requirements of SamTrans infrastructure projects.
• Manage coordination, communications and expectations with project stakeholders, and internal cross-functional teams responsible for different aspects of planning, design, and engineering
• Provide direction and guidance to consultant staff responsible for managing infrastructure projects.
• Provide support for federal and state grant applications for funding of SamTrans infrastructure projects.
• Support development of contract solicitations.
• Investigate, evaluate, and resolve project issues.
• Identify root cause of issues. Determine and present appropriate solutions.
• Review cost estimates, monitor project schedules and budgets, and monitor work in progress.
• Coordinate the provision of capital project development and implementation services with other departments and divisions.  
• Act as subject matter expert of all technical and regulatory matters affecting bus facility and infrastructure projects.
• Coordinate with federal, state, and local agencies during project implementation, and ensure compliance with their administrative guidelines.
• Represent SamTrans before the Board of Directors, city councils, and other state, federal, local, and regional agencies, boards, and before local citizens in public meetings and hearings as needed.
• Develop, negotiate, and monitor contracts and cooperative agreements with other governmental agencies, private consultants, and private contractors.
• Perform all job duties and responsibilities in a safe manner to protect one’s self, fellow employees, and the public from injury or harm.  Promote safety awareness and follow safety procedures in an effort to reduce or eliminate accidents.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Supervision: Works under the general supervision of the Director, Infrastructure who establishes goals and objectives and evaluates performance.   

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

Sufficient experience, training and/or education to demonstrate the knowledge and ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. In lieu of a degree, work-related experience that demonstrates the skills and experience necessary to perform this role will be accepted. Development of the required knowledge and abilities is typically obtained through but not limited to: 

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a closely related field.
• Five (5) years full-time increasingly responsible management experience in the area of civil, electrical, mechanical, or other closely related engineering design, construction management, or public works project management.
• Three (3) years full-time direct management level supervision of engineering staff.
• Possess a registered Professional Engineer License in the state of California.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in management and delivery of complex engineering design projects for public transit agencies.
• Leadership of engineering design teams and projects.
• Experience with federal, state, and local funded projects. 
• Experience with Quality Control/Quality Assurance throughout a project lifecycle.
• Experience with Storm Water System Design management.
• Development of Capital Improvement Plans and Budgets.
• Experience working in Transportation Operations and Maintenance.
• Knowledge of CEQA and NEPA requirements, especially those relevant to transit agencies. 
• Able to possess a valid California drivers’ license.

The Civil Rights Analyst reports to the Manager, Civil Rights Programs and is responsible for supporting the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) and labor compliance programs with data entry, contract compliance, outreach, monitoring, and reporting. The position will primarily work for Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board (Caltrain) and the San Mateo County Transit District (SamTrans).

 

The Office of Civil Rights (OCR) is responsible for the administration and enforcement of local, state, and federal civil rights laws and regulations.

Essential Functions & Duties:

• Create and prepare compliance reports for submission to Federal Transit Administration, project teams, Board of Directors, and other stakeholders.
• Manage the District’s prompt payment database (B2Gnow).
• Provide analysis for metrics, budgeting, and contract compliance.
• Assist OCR program staff with outreach, events and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate communications, community involvement, and vendor outreach events. Attend project meetings and outreach events as the District’s representative.

 

Examples of Essential Duties:

• Communicate with Agency staff, primes, subcontractors, and other stakeholders regarding contract compliance requirements. Develop training materials as needed.
• Maintain prompt payment and utilization data in B2Gnow through:
  • Acting as the District’s contact person for B2Gnow related inquiries. 
  • Data entry and maintenance of contract and payment information gathered from multiple sources.
  • Tracking payments, resolving payment discrepancies, and assisting contractors with payment-related questions.
  • Closing contracts and ensuring timely audits. 
  • Create and prepare reports that include both narrative and data analyses.
• Assist OCR staff with research, data entry, and ad-hoc projects to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Assist contractors with the certification or recertification process by working with the DBE Administrator to gather and review required information and documentation.
• Visit active jobsites to interview construction workers and perform commercially useful function verifications.
• Perform all job duties and responsibilities in a safe manner to protect oneself, fellow employees and the public from injury or harm. Promote safety awareness and follow safety procedures to reduce or eliminate accidents.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Sufficient experience, training and/or education to demonstrate the knowledge and ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. In lieu of a degree, work-related experience that demonstrates the skills and experience necessary to perform this role will be accepted. Development of the required knowledge and abilities is typically obtained through but not limited to:

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, social work, human services, data analytics, economics, political science, or other closely related field. 
• Two (2) years of professional experience with federal and state civil rights laws, programs, and reporting requirements.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in a public or transit agency.
• Intermediate to advanced experience using Excel (pivot tables). 
• Professional experience using statistical databases or other data reporting tools. 
• Experience with minority, government, or small business programs (SBE, DBE, MBE, etc).
• Professional experience with B2Gnow, Peoplesoft, and LCPtracker.
