Join San Bruno Community Services, Parks Department as a Lead Maintenance Worker! 

The Community Services Department is committed to providing quality programs, services, and spaces to benefit the health and well-being of the community. Within Community Services, the Parks Maintenance Division is responsible for the maintenance of all City’s outdoor recreation sites, including 20 parks covering 68 acres, 6 baseball fields, 128 acres of open space, all City owned facilities, over 7 miles of medians, and one dog park. 
 

Under the supervision of the Parks Field Supervisor, the Parks Lead Maintenance Worker performs a variety of skilled tasks and complex assignments in maintenance, repair, and construction work. The Lead Maintenance Worker is a working supervisor position. The position exercises direct supervision over crews engaged in service, maintenance, and repair. Work assignments may also involve considerable skill in various construction and mechanical crafts and the operation of heavy construction and maintenance equipment. 

CORE DUTIES

Examples of duties may include, but are not limited to:

• Assigns and reviews work of Maintenance Workers I/II and seasonal staff; trains, supervises, and reviews work of assigned staff; provides input into performance evaluations and performance issues.

• Inspects and repairs equipment at frequent intervals to ensure that all aspects of the systems are safe and functioning properly; maintains a variety of records relating to inspections, maintenance activity, materials supply, athletic field layouts and surfaces, base positioning and installation, and layouts of field markings.

• Determines and marks the locations of irrigation system wiring and water lines from the appropriate sources prior to excavation.

• Responds to complaints and resolves problems regarding functional areas such as tree conditions, ball field conditions irrigation system problems, park, building and ball field lighting, water leaks, parks facility issues.

• Ensures the proper maintenance of equipment and tools assigned to their area of responsibility by checking equipment and tools and maintaining maintenance records, and refers defects to supervisory staff.

• Safely operates vehicles/equipment of various sizes and weights in the loading, hauling and unloading of various equipment, soil and sand, concrete, performance of tree work; and other job functions; operates pneumatic tools and power tools.

• Oversees and participates in construction and maintenance projects as part of a crew, including laying pipe, trenching and backfilling, determines safety and playability of sports fields and reports information to their supervisor, prunes trees and shrubs in conformance with established professional practices and safe working methods.

• Applies pesticides and utilizes best Integrated Pest Management practices for assigned areas of responsibility.

• Performs set up of traffic safety work zones utilizing traffic safety control devices as needed for work performed in areas such as medians, right-of ways, streets, and parks.

• Performs other duties as assigned. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of education, experience, and training that would provide the best qualified candidates. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be a high school diploma or GED, and two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience performing field maintenance work similar to that of a Maintenance Worker II with the City of San Bruno. 

HIGHLY DESIRABLE

• Possession of a valid California Class B driver’s license. 

• Possession of a Qualified Pesticide Applicators Certificate.

The City of San Bruno Public Library is currently recruiting for a part-time, temporary Library Assistant—Homework Center Supervisor. Under the direction of the Library Services Manager, the Library Assistant—Homework Center Supervisor is responsible for the daily operations of the Library's after-school Homework Center, including classroom management, homework help, supervising and training volunteers, collaborating with library staff, and maintaining
accurate records of homework center attendance. The incumbent will be responsible for
maintaining a welcoming place for students to do their homework effectively within the larger context of the library, and for planning STEAM weekly activities and training/supervising students in the use of the 3-D printer. The homework center is a free, drop-in, after-school program for children in kindergarten through eighth grade.

* This is a part-time/temporary/seasonal position with the City of San Bruno.  As such, employees agree to serve in an at-will capacity and understand that service with the City may be terminated at any time.  This position works a maximum of 17 hours per week and does not provide any benefits, except for paid sick leave. In accordance with the Healthy Workplaces, Healthy Families Act of 2014, all temporary, part-time, and seasonal employees, who on or after July 1, 2015, work in California for 30 or more days within a year from the commencement of employment are entitled to paid sick leave for prescribed purposes.  Employees will accrue one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked and are entitled to use accrued sick days beginning on the 90th day of employment.  Employees may use up to 40 hours (or 5 days) of accrued sick leave in each year of employment.

San Mateo County Health's Public Health, Policy and Planning Division has exciting field-based opportunities for well-qualified and motivated Nurse Practitioners to provide both primary and urgent care to adults from vulnerable populations within our community—people experiencing homelessness and/or in shelters, monolingual Spanish speakers and other new immigrants, and those without insurance or underinsured. These services are provided through various Mobile Clinic modalities and venues, including but not limited to street medicine, shelter medicine, and the mobile coach. We are looking for collaborative Nurse Practitioners to work in and lead various multidisciplinary service teams in the field to provide comprehensive, low-threshold, client-centered care and engagement.

Teams are staffed by a Nurse Practitioner (NP), Psychiatrist, Medical Services Assistant, AOD Case Manager, and Patient Services Assistants. These teams work closely with our community partners from the Human Services Agency and community-based organizations who locate and identify clients needing medical and/or mental health services, as well as provide additional health, housing, and social services in the field.

Under general supervision, Nurse Practitioners provide urgent care and primary health care services such as physical examinations, chronic disease management (e.g., diabetes and hypertension), and referrals/linkages to specialty clinics as appropriate.

Currently, Public Health Clinics has one full-time, regular, 40-hour-per-week vacancy for a bilingual Spanish Nurse Practitioner and two 40-hour-per-week, Limited-Term Nurse Practitioner vacancies, requiring flexible schedules and field-based work at different locations. Sixty-five percent of the NP’s time will be in the field, with the remainder spent in the office documenting notes, placing orders, and coordinating with other staff as needed.

The ideal candidate has experience:

• In family practice addressing chronic disease management

• In the diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted infections

• Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams

• With the underserved population, including those who are homeless

Examples of Duties

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Provide low-threshold, comprehensive care for San Mateo County’s most marginalized and vulnerable populations, including people experiencing homelessness, those in shelters, migrant and immigrant farmworkers, the recently incarcerated, the uninsured, and those with financial challenges.

• Provide comprehensive and urgent care in a variety of non-traditional settings, including homeless encampments, outdoor locations, shelters, and a mobile RV clinic.

• Demonstrate the ability to work closely and collaboratively with a small team in often challenging environments (e.g., homeless encampments, shelters, extreme weather, individuals under the influence, or those with mental health challenges).

• Take stewardship of medical care for assigned geographic populations and/or shelters.

• Identify and manage common illnesses and other health problems.

• Collaborate with other health professionals following protocols for diagnosis and treatment.

• Build relationships with community partners to improve health outcomes and expand services.

• Counsel families regarding health maintenance and care.

• Coordinate referrals to other health or social agencies.

• Maintain accurate records of assessments, follow-ups, and evaluations.

• Supervise subordinate health workers and participate in meetings.

• Actively participate in quality improvement efforts.

Qualifications

Education and Experience
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.

• Education: Completion of an advanced nursing degree from a program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC), with emphasis in a Nurse Practitioner specialty area.

• Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of paid experience in an acute and/or ambulatory care setting.

Licensure

The San Mateo County Attorney's Office is seeking candidates for the 2026 Michael P. Murphy Public Law Fellowship.

In 2014, the County of San Mateo established a Fellowship position in honor of former San Mateo County Counsel Michael P. Murphy. Mr. Murphy served in the County Counsel’s office from 1982 to 2011, the last four years as County Counsel. Vacancies in Bay Area county counsel offices typically attract many qualified applicants and new attorneys are generally not considered for these positions. This Fellowship provides an opportunity for new attorneys to receive training and experience in advising and litigating on behalf of government agencies as they begin their legal careers.

Attorneys in the San Mateo County Attorney’s Office (previously known as the County Counsel’s Office) are generalists. We provide legal advice to County departments, school districts, and special districts; litigate civil cases in State and Federal courts and before administrative agencies; and manage calendar assignments in Dependency, Probate, Lanterman Petris Short Act, and other specialized areas of law. Fellows are given the opportunity to experience a wide range of public sector work, in litigation, public policy, and advice roles. The goal is to provide each Fellow a year in the life of a Deputy County Attorney.

Position Summary

Under the general direction of the District Engineer, plans, organizes and directs activities of the Engineering Contracts Section of the Engineering Department. Manages the centralization of engineering contract development activities.  Manages implementation of contract administration procedures.  Manages coordination between project managers and District attorneys, insurance advisor, capital and grants staff, Small Business Enterprise staff, state and federal funding oversight agencies, and consultants/contractors.  Manages the preparation and processing of requests for proposals for professional services and invitations for construction bids for District facilities capital improvement projects.   Administers professional services agreements and construction contracts, including verification of consultants and contractors' compliance with certified payroll submissions, prevailing wage requirements and other contract labor rules.  Supervises contract administration staff.  Provides assistance to District Engineer regarding engineering contract matters, budget analysis and cash flow reports, including acting as liaison between District Engineer and District Officers, Heads of District Divisions and the Board of Directors. Facilitates the work of the District Engineer by using discretion, prudence, initiative, and independent judgment. Performs other related duties and special projects as required.

Essential Responsibilities

• Organizes, plans, writes, directs, coordinates reviews and prepares final versions of requests for proposals, formal bids, professional service agreements, purchase agreements, construction contracts, amendments and change orders in adherence to federal, state, local laws and regulations and District procurement policies and guidelines. 
• Reviews contract documents for accuracy, content, timeliness, reasonableness, funding, performance periods, deliverables, and other terms and conditions.
• Provides procurement and contract administration guidance to engineering staff to ensure contract uniformity, and consistency.

• Attends pre-proposal and pre-bid conferences as needed and explains the District’s contract award procedures and guidelines.

PAL (Police Activities League) Program Attendants work in the formal Suisun City classification of Recreation Specialist I. Starting hourly rate will depend on qualifications. This position works on average 19 hours per week.

The Department: The Recreation, Parks and Marina Department is responsible for the operations and programs of the Suisun City Marina, the Senior Center and the Joseph A. Nelson Center, including preschool, after-school programs at various sites, recreation classes and sports leagues, community events and special event rentals.

The Position: PAL Program Attendants work with Suisun City’s PAL Program and with area teenagers ages 13-19 to implement educational and recreational activities: tutoring, sports, games, mini-excursions, competitions, contests, seminars, and special events, and provide general support to the program’s Recreation Supervisor. About the Commission: The San Francisco Ethics Commission was created by the City’s voters with the passage of Proposition K in November 1993. The Ethics Commission is responsible for the independent and impartial administration and enforcement of laws related to campaign finance, public financing of candidates, governmental ethics, conflicts of interest, and registration and reporting by lobbyists, campaign consultants, permit consultants, and major developers.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Deputy Director will oversee department-wide administrative operations and strategic initiatives including organizational planning, program performance, budget development, financial accounting, procurement, contracting, human resources, recruitment, and other administrative functions. This role will supervise three staff members in the Operations Division and closely collaborate with other staff to achieve the Commission’s strategic goals.

The Deputy Director must be willing to forego involvement in all local political activity while a member of the Commission staff and publicly file an annual Statement of Economic Interests (Form 700).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Essential duties of the position include, but are not limited to the following:

• Establish and implement departmental goals, policies, and strategic plans as directed by the Executive Director.
• Develop and maintain a broad understanding of the Commission’s laws, policies, programs, procedures, and operations.
• Oversee daily administrative operations of the department including financial management, procurement, accounting, payroll, and related office operations.
• Effectively plan, coordinate, supervise, and evaluate the work of direct reports.
• Manage the department’s hiring initiatives including tracking vacancies, producing hiring-related documents, coordinating recruitment functions with staff and DHR, and supporting onboarding activities.
• Manage the department’s HR and personnel functions and lead initiatives to promote staff engagement and professional development.
• Direct the department’s annual budget development process by working with Commission staff and City stakeholders to get necessary funding approved through the City’s budgeting process.
• Track ongoing spending using the City’s financial systems and monitor adherence to the approved budget.
• Manage the department’s contracting needs and establish internal procedures and documentation for related business processes.
• Design and implement standardized workflows, procedures, documents, and tools for the Commission’s departmental business processes. Identify ways to improve business processes using automation.
• Establish effective metrics that inform the department’s operations and programmatic work in a data-driven manner. Develop processes to generate and track performance measures broadly across functions for leadership and staff, using automated tools in collaboration with the technology division.
• Manage services from other departments to support the Commission’s operations and serve as a liaison for departments and other stakeholders.
• Prepare management reports, annual reports, agency publications, and financial reports to provide regular progress updates regarding departmental goals and operations. Provide presentations at Commission meetings as needed.
• Maintain information on the Commission’s website, including budget, operational reports, and Commission information, in compliance with the City’s language access and digital inclusion standards.

• Support Commission-related operations including assisting with public meetings and onboarding new Commissioners.
• Act on behalf of the Executive Director when requested to provide business continuity for other programmatic and business functions.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, AND
• Two (2) years of managerial experience in governmental ethics, campaign financing, and/or lobbying laws and regulations, all of which must include supervisory experience.

Substitution: Additional experience as described above may substitute for the required degree on a year for year basis up to a maximum of two (2) years.

Desired Qualifications

• A Master's degree in public administration, business administration, public policy, or a closely related field of study, or a juris doctor degree.

• Two or more years of demonstrated experience with public sector management, budgeting, financial accounting, procurement, contracting, and/or recruitment functions.
• Experience in the fields of campaign finance and governmental ethics.
• Experience working objectively, efficiently, and effectively under strict deadlines and highly visible, sensitive, or politicized settings.
• Extensive knowledge and expertise in organizational policies, systems, and issues in a government setting.
• Proficiency with computers and software applications, including with Microsoft Office tools, electronic filings systems, collaboration and project management tools (SharePoint, MS Teams, Jira or similar), financial & accounting systems, digital signature tools (DocuSign or similar), and content management systems (WordPress or similar).
• Familiarity with data analysis skills including advanced Excel, PowerBI, Tableau, or other statistical/analytics tools. Comfortable working with complex datasets and databases.
