Police Officer 
The City is looking for experienced Police Officers to fill a current vacancy. San Mateo County Health is seeking an experienced individual for the position of Public Health Clinics Process Improvement Manager that plans, oversees, and provides a wide variety of administrative, analytical, and work-flow support on a County-wide level; analyzes practices and procedures and makes recommendations for organizational, operational, policy, and procedural improvements; conducts needs analysis, feasibility studies, and program evaluation for assigned projects and programs; develops, summarizes, and maintains administrative and fiscal records; fosters cooperative working relationships among County departments and acts as liaison with various community, public, and regulatory agencies; and performs related work as required.

There is currently one regular vacancy in the Public Health, Policy and Planning Division, located in San Mateo, but the position will include travel/driving throughout the county to perform duties of the job.

This management position will report to the Public Health Clinics Manager, overseeing Edison Clinics and Mobile Clinics and will have broad project management responsibility for key strategic efforts affecting the Public Health clinics, and will exercise direct and general supervision over assigned professional, technical, and office support staff.

Primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Quality assurance and improvement: build and visualize data in management reports and dashboards; convert data to information and use it to guide process improvement.
• Process improvement: facilitate, document, track, organize, and measure progress, e.g., conduct improvement work within daily huddles.
• Project management: lead projects and provide ad hoc support of projects.
• Knowledge management: inventory and maintain infrastructure of core programmatic documents and processes, how files are stored and shared.
• Partnership building: support internal staff operational needs; coordinate with other stakeholders, such as staff from Behavioral Health & Recovery Services, Human Services Agency, Health IT, San Mateo Medical Center, grant makers, state agencies, etc.
• Management of staff: supervise and influence when appropriate on projects.
• Contract and MOU support: assist Clinics Manager to write scopes of work, produce required reports and invoices for categorical funding and operational agreements.
• Revenue optimization support: oversee billing quality assurance and improvement, facilitate braided funding opportunities and oversight.
• Policy and procedures facilitation: maintain inventory and lead update processes through completion, including occasional initial literature reviews or research and coordination of stakeholders.
• Change management and leadership synchronization: coordinate staff engagement, training, feedback to ensure successful system changes, facilitate leadership development and decision making, contribute to agendas, take meeting minutes, track on-going project work in support of meeting goals.

Ideal candidate will possess:

• Experience with project management and process improvement as the lead.
• Knowledge and/or experience with: County of San Mateo; Public Health; healthcare clinics; vulnerable population care management including people experiencing homelessness; and HIV, Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), and other Communicable Diseases.
• Data skills including requirements gathering; ad hoc report building; data and dashboard management.
• Knowledge of and/or experience with information technology systems including Power Business Intelligence (BI); advanced Excel; eClinical Works (eCW); ARIES; Microsoft SharePoint; Epic; Workday reporting.

Qualifications

Education and Experience :

The Instructor-Lifeguard functions as both a swimming instructor and a lifeguard at a City swimming pool.    An incumbent conducts classes at all participant skill levels (beginning through advanced) and supervises the conduct of swimmers in City pools in order to maintain a safe environment.   This class is distinguished from the Lifeguard in that the latter has a sole focus on lifeguard responsibilities.  This recruitment may be used to fill multiple positions in this, or other divisions or departments. Typical Duties

Under general supervision:
• Conducts swimming instruction classes at various participant age and skill levels
• Administers practical swimming tests to determine participants' skill levels
• Maintains class participant attendance, activity, and progress records
• Observes swimmers at a City operated swimming pool; warning those who violate pool safety rules, and expelling them, if necessary, for willful disobedience
• Maintains a safe but enjoyable poolside atmosphere for participants by continuously monitoring  pool facility for potential problems or dangerous situations
• Rescues swimmers who are in distress;  administers first aid and artificial respiration, if necessary, according to prescribed methods
• Cleans, disinfects, and maintains the pool, pool decks, overflow gutter, shower rooms and other pool facility areas
• Performs other related duties as assigned

 

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum Requirements:
• Education equivalent to completion of the tenth grade; and
• No experience required; and
• Must be at least 16 years of age at time of application

LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATES
Possession of the following is required:
• A valid American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certificate or Completion of City of Santa Clara Learn To Swim Instruction Program; and
• A valid American Red Cross Lifeguard certificate; and
• In accordance with State of California law, a valid California Work Permit is required at time of appointment for candidates under the age of 18 who have not graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate of proficiency

The City of San José Information Technology Department seeks an experienced City Information Security Officer (CISO) to lead cybersecurity Citywide initiatives.
 
The CISO will direct the Cybersecurity Office as the City’s principal executive leader for information and systems security. In partnership with the Chief Information Officer (CIO), they will manage risk identification, protection and compliance, threat detection, incident response (IR), and recovery services for all City departments to ensure business resilience.
 
The City’s CISO must be able to apply expertise in security strategy, cybersecurity frameworks, managing staff and vendor services, leading incident management, and optimizing resources to achieve desired security outcomes.
 
Key responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Lead and mentor the Cybersecurity team, offering expertise and support to foster growth and a collaborative environment. 
• Collaborate with business units and solution providers to provide optimal security measures and achieve a balance between sustaining business operations and achieving security compliance.
• Coordinate with stakeholders within the City and partners/vendors outside of the City to ensure information and systems meet the City’s standards for threat identification, protection, and risk detection.

• Upon successful completion of the Public Safety Officer in Training requirements, incumbents promote to Public Safety Officer I ($136,764 - $158,321).
• Upon successful completion of all phases of training, members of the Public Safety Officer I classification promote to Public Safety Officer II ($144,724 - $180,310).

Under immediate supervision of a Public Safety Lieutenant or Captain, either currently attends the California POST Basic Academy and is learning to perform a wide range of public safety work involving the protection of life and property including law enforcement, crime prevention, fire suppression, rescue, and basic life support activities; or has graduated from the California POST Basic Academy within the last 12 months; and performs related work as required.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS 

The position of Public Safety Officer Academy Attendee/Graduate is the training level classification for general police and fire work for those incumbents not affiliated with an agency and currently enrolled in a police academy. Incumbents are not sworn personnel and are generally in this classification until successful completion of the police academy. Assignment to this classification is temporary. If incumbents do not successfully complete a police academy, they will be terminated.  Incumbents hired after the graduation from the California POST Basic Academy are not sworn personnel and are generally in this classification until they are promoted to Public Safety Officer I.

Public Safety Officer Academy Attendee/Graduate is distinguished from the higher-level Public Safety Officer I in that the latter is a sworn position where incumbents continue training for both police and fire duties. Incumbents must successfully complete the police academy prior to being promoted to the classification of Public Safety Officer I.

Definition
Under general supervision, the Electro-Mechanic performs skilled electrical/electronic and mechanical work to diagnose, maintain, repair, rebuild, overhaul, service, inspect, and test light rail transit vehicles and equipment.

About the Light Rail Maintenance Department

Light Rail Vehicle (LRV) Maintenance is located at the Guadalupe Light Rail Division. LRV Maintenance is responsible for timely and reliable maintenance, preventive maintenance, inspections, repair and servicing of light rail vehicles and service equipment.

After a light rail vehicle returns from revenue service at the end of each day, Maintenance performs an interior inspection/walk-through of the vehicle, analyzes the Operator Defect Card, performs a visual inspection of the vehicle undercarriage, performs exterior and interior cleaning, cleans and repairs windows and seating, and removes and repairs graffiti and vandalism.

Training and experience equivalent to completion of a two-year degree in electronic technology and two years of experience in the installation, maintenance or repair of electro-mechanical systems similar to those found in VTA light rail vehicles.

OR

Demonstrated experience and training equivalent to a high school diploma and four years of experience in a maintenance environment working on systems similar to those found in a light rail vehicle including air conditioning, DC motors, generators, circuit diagrams, lighting and electrical troubleshooting.

Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license and the ability to qualify for and maintain a Class B license with passenger (P) endorsement and a maintenance LRV operation certification.

The City of Sunnyvale invites applications for the Public Safety Officer - In Training. The position of Public Safety Officer-In Training is a non-sworn, training classification while incumbents are attending the police and fire academies. Upon successful completion of the police academy, incumbents will be promoted to the sworn, training position of Public Safety Officer I. Upon successful completion of all required training, incumbents will be promoted to the sworn position of Public Safety Officer II.
