The Position

The San Bruno Police Department is recruiting for Public Safety Dispatchers (Lateral.)  Public Safety Dispatchers are responsible for public safety dispatch and related records management activities. This position operates on a 24-hour, 365 days per year basis, and may be assigned to either a day, swing, or graveyard shift on a regular, rotational basis that includes nights, weekends, and holidays.  Public Safety Dispatchers perform a wide range of duties involving radio, telephone, and computers, applying various procedures and codes. Dispatchers receive and transmit emergency and non-emergency telephone and radio traffic as well as process communication reports, records, and radio logs, while maintaining a high level of confidentiality.  Dispatchers may also support the Police Department by performing clerical tasks, training, assisting with fingerprinting, and being accountable for financial transactions.  This position is integral in supporting the goals and objectives of the City and Police Department.  

Essential Duties

• Receives and transmits emergency telephone and radio traffic. 
• Maintains and processes a variety of communications reports, records and radio logs.
• Operates a dispatch console, uses Computer Aided Dispatch (C.A.D.) System and other computer programs to process information and records.
• Maintains a high level of confidentiality.
• Performs collateral duties including a variety of related clerical tasks: assisting in preparation of work schedules; training and evaluating performance of new employees; conducting training sessions; assisting in fingerprinting and jail operations, which may include searching prisoners; and is accountable for handling cash, bond, and check transactions.
• Plans, organizes, and directs dispatching and related activities on an assigned shift. This may include preparing schedules and prioritizing work; observing work performed by Dispatcher I employees to ensure compliance with standards; approving time off; conducting employee evaluations; and providing effective recommendations on personnel matters.
• Prepares and maintains training and procedure manuals.  As required, prepares special reports, and undertakes projects for Management Staff.
• May act as Records/Dispatcher Supervisor in their absence.
• Maintains liaison with other Department Divisions, City Departments, and other law enforcement and emergency response agencies.
• Maintains various C.A.D and Record Management Files.
• Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

 Must be able to pass an extensive background investigation.

Education

• Possession of a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Additional related college course work or degree preferred.

Experience

• Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience performing duties similar to that of a Public Safety Dispatcher I.

Certificates and Licenses

• Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver’s License, Class C with a good driving record.
• Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Intermediate Dispatch Certificate; an Advanced California POST Certificate is preferred.

We are seeking two clinic managers who will operate under the general direction of the Deputy Director of Ambulatory Care. The clinic managers plan, coordinate, direct, manage, supervise and evaluate the full range of programs and services offered at the community-based health clinics; recommend, develop, implement and evaluate goals, objectives, policies and procedures related to clinics; provide leadership and coordination to community groups, public and private agencies, advisory boards and volunteers in planning and implementing clinic services; and provide highly complex staff support to senior-level management. The clinic managers also lead and participate in complex performance improvement activities; develop systems to track the progress of strategic initiatives, departmental operational goals, and communicate progress in key forums; develop productive relationships with labor partners while navigating operational needs and developing and sustaining effective employee engagement processes. The clinic managers exercise direct and indirect supervision over a diversified clinical and support staff team.

The ideal candidates will have working knowledge of clinic operations, particularly in outpatient clinics that offer primary care, adolescent care, and pediatrics, as well as in budgeting and scheduling. The ideal candidates will also be experienced in change management, improving patient satisfaction scores, and continuous process improvement (Lean). Experience in a public/safety net clinic is highly desirable. The ideal candidates will also have the ability to lead complex performance activities.

Examples Of Duties

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Plan, direct, monitor, coordinate and evaluate the operations and service delivery programs of a regional health clinic or clinics, including needs assessment, program design and planning, implementation, evaluation, and regulatory enforcement.

• Direct, coordinate, and participate in the development and implementation of program goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and priorities that balance both mandated services and community health care needs.

• Assess the quality of patient care; develop and generate community support for changes or enhancements to service delivery methods; advocate for patients with medical staff to ensure appropriate care is provided.

• Monitor census/patient flow and project future patient care demands; develop staffing schedules and assignments to provide the necessary level and type of care.

• Develop, present, and advocate for clinic funding; administer and monitor the approved budget to ensure the accomplishment of clinic care objectives within budget restrictions.

• Act as liaison between senior-level management, advisory boards and commissions, regulatory bodies, and program staff to ensure that all appropriate policies and guidelines are followed, and that programs are funded with adequate resources to maintain mandated and expected levels of service.

• Maintain an effective working relationship with a variety of public and private organizations, including other Health Services Agency staff, County departments, and agencies.

• Consult with other program managers on relevant program issues; develop alternative strategies for dealing with community health needs and assist in the implementation of solutions as necessary.

• Act as advocate and spokesperson in the community in support of programs and services; interpret, explain, and direct the enforcement of community health-related standards, codes, and regulations.

• Provide highly complex staff assistance to senior-level management and related commissions and advisory boards on program issues.

• Prepare a wide variety of detailed written reports, policies, procedures, and contracts.

• Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is:

• Three years of administrative or managerial experience in a healthcare delivery, social, or community services organization, including significant responsibility for one or more of the following: program and budget development, program service delivery, funding, utilization, coordination of community resources, or program evaluation.

San Mateo County Health- San Mateo Medical Center seeks well-qualified candidates for the position of Program Coordinator I in the Patient Access Division. The current vacancy is a full-time, limited term vacancy. The duration of the assignment will last about 6 months.

 

Under the direction of the Patient Access Manager, the Program Coordinator will provide support to over 150 Patient Services Assistants across various departments, including Emergency, Admitting, Long-Term Care, Same-Day Surgery, and will average 27 Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) sites with 8-16 hours of weekly program refresher training on several publicly sponsored coverage options.

 

Additionally, this position will assist the team with several EPIC post-go-live projects, and work queues as we work to revamp processes and enhance collaboration for improved workflows and revenue-generating process efficiencies.

San Mateo County Health is excited to be able to offer a full-time, benefited, unique job opportunity to well-qualified individuals for the position of Supervising Nurse Practitioner (Supervising NP) Forensic Medical Unit, as part of San Mateo Medical Center's Keller Center.

The Keller Center for Family Violence Intervention is a unique outpatient medical unit affiliated with San Mateo Medical Center Emergency Department. We perform forensic medical exams on victims of assault and abuse and work in a collaborative multidisciplinary team that includes law enforcement, the District Attorney’s office, Child Protective Services, Aging and Adult Services, and several community agencies. We also provide education and serve as a resource for other community hospitals and clinics.

The Supervising Nurse Practitioner will collaborate with the Medical Director of Specialty Services and Deputy Director of Ambulatory Nursing in planning, organizing and directing the activities and staff of the Keller Center along with developing standards of practice for forensic exams and reporting. This classification is distinguished from the Nurse Practitioner Series for having full administrative supervisory responsibility over other Nurse Practitioners. The selected individual will spend up to 30% of time in direct patient care at SMMC, which includes performing forensic medical exams for victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, elder abuse and child abuse. Testifying in court will be part of the job responsibilities.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualities:

• At least two years of forensic examination training and experience
• Trauma Informed Care training and experience
• Experience bringing diverse viewpoints and stakeholders together successfully to accomplish goals and commands the trust and respect of others
• Interest in team-based care and creating a positive patient experience, and has demonstrated innovation and initiative in realizing that vision
• Has overseen and led complex projects and coordinated interdisciplinary teams
• Has at least two years of experience in supervising and mentoring others
• At least three years of experience as a Practitioner, and a minimum of six months of lead or supervisory experience overseeing clinical care

Qualifications

Licensure/Certification:

• Possession of a California license as a Registered Nurse.
• Possession of a California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) Nurse Practitioner Certification.
• Possession of a California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) Furnishing Number.
• Possession of a DEA Number.

Education and Experience:
