ABOUT THE POSITION

If so, the City of Gilroy is recruiting for a Senior Equipment Mechanic with the Fleet Division to take charge of the maintenance shop and lead by example. As a Senior Equipment Mechanic, you’ll be more than just a top-notch mechanic – you will be the shop lead overseeing daily operations, assigning work, mentoring other mechanics, and ensuring high standards of safety, service, and performance. The employee in the Senior Equipment Mechanic job classification is required to be fully trained in all fleet shop procedures and have strong knowledge of all apparatuses, vehicles, and equipment in the City fleet. The goal of the Fleet Division is to provide high quality repair and maintenance services to all city-owned vehicles, heavy trucks and equipment.

The Code Enforcement Officer is distinguished from the Supervisor by performing work of moderate difficulty and more routine tasks and duties assigned to this position within this classification series. The Code Enforcement Officer will respond to citizen concerns and proactively identify violations such as property maintenance issues, and zoning infractions. You will educate the public on code requirements through clear and respectful communication and work collaboratively with other city departments and external agencies to resolve issues. Additionally, the Code Enforcement Officer will issue notices, citations, and follow up on compliance efforts in a fair and consistent manner. It is also imperative that the Code Enforcement Officer maintain accurate case files and documentation for possible legal proceedings.

What's the Role and What You'll Do
We’re looking for a highly motivated, reliable and skilled individual to join the Public Works Department as a Public Works Inspector I/II. Working with the City’s Engineering and Public Services teams, you will inspect work quality and materials used in a variety of streets and utilities infrastructure, public works construction projects, and development projects to ensure conformance with approved plans, specifications, and departmental regulations. What You'll Do
Review plans and specifications of assigned project; attend preconstruction conferences as assigned.

Inspect a variety of public works improvements such as utilities, streets, sidewalks, gutters, and other off-site construction; check line, grade, size, elevation, and location of structures for conformance with specifications and regulations.

Inspect a variety of public works construction projects such as City parks, traffic signals, roadway improvements, utilities, and building renovations. Verify conformance with project plans / specifications, and measure field quantities for payment.

Observe work during progress and upon completion; ensure that safety procedures are followed.
Monitor, inspect, and approve completion of work done under an excavation permit; ensure that all specified conditions are met.

Perform related duties as assigned.
 

The Essentials

Public Works Inspector I

Equivalent to the completion of the 12th grade with courses in drafting and related mathematics.
 

Possession of a valid California Class C Driver License.
 

Three years of public works construction experience.
 

Public Works Inspector II

Equivalent to the completion of the 12th grade supplemented by courses in civil engineering or construction management.

Possession of a valid California Class C Driver License.

Eighteen (18) months public works inspection experience equivalent to Public Works Inspector I in the City of Mountain View.

Bonus Points

One year as a construction foreman or public works inspecting experience.

Registration as a California construction inspector.

Possession of a Certified Public Infrastructure Inspector (CPII) certificate.

The City of Dixon is recruiting Senior Lifeguard/ Swim Instructor applicants for the 2025 Aquatic Season.

The Senior Lifeguard/Swim Instructor performs a variety of duties to ensure the City of Dixon swimming pool is a safe and enjoyable aquatic facility. Supervises pool patrons, enforces pool rules, performs first aid and emergency rescues, instructs swim lessons, performs cashiering duties, leads recreational activities; performs related and other work as required.

Staff may be expected to work weekends and on fixed holidays. Those who work on a City Holiday will earn 1 ½ times their base hourly salary.

ABOUT THE POSITION
If you are passionate about ensuring quality and safety in engineering projects and want to make a real difference in the community, we have an excellent opportunity for you. The City of Gilroy is currently recruiting a full-time Engineering Technician/Inspector at level I or II or III (depending on experience and qualifications) for the Engineering Division of the Public Works Department. The position will support the engineering staff with technical tasks for public works improvements, public works projects, and land development projects, and will entail a mix of technician and inspection duties. The goal of the Engineering Division is to promote a better quality of life for those who live, work, and visit the city of Gilroy through the provision of efficient engineering services and the creation of orderly growth and development within the city.

EXAMPLES OF ONGOING PROJECTS

• Provide inspection support to various Capital Improvement Projects, to include water and wastewater projects. 
• Coordinate inspection efforts with consultants and outside agencies.
• Process and review various public works permits.
• Administer the Sidewalk Repair Program.

The Santa Clara City Library is a department of the City of Santa Clara. The Santa Clara City Library operates three facilities, a virtual branch through a website, and a bookmobile. The Library provides a collection of virtual and physical books and resources, services and programs, public internet access, adult literacy and English as Second Language classes for the Santa Clara community. Services and programs are free and open to all.

The Position:

The Santa Clara City Library is seeking an enthusiastic and community-oriented Librarian with a strong public service commitment at the Mission Branch Library. This Librarian will provide library service, information, and programming for all ages, and may be responsible of the branch in-lieu of more senior staff. Constant contact and collaboration with patrons of all ages, including those with diverse backgrounds and abilities, are part of the daily duties of this position.  

This is a limited-term appointment of 30-40 hours/week for up to 6 months. As an as-needed employee, this is an "at-will" position and there is no guarantee of hours. Hours are limited to 999 in a fiscal year or 960 hours in a fiscal year for retired CalPERS annuitants.
