POLICE OFFICER - Academy Graduate - $8,419 to $11,416 per month (up to $13,128 with incentives)

The City of Pleasant Hill is currently seeking applicants for Police Officer Academy Graduate. We offer excellent pay, benefits, opportunities for promotion, as well as the opportunity to serve a great community that values the services we provide.

Police Officers can serve in patrol, traffic, investigations, and K-9 assignments. Other collateral opportunities include instructor positions (Firearms and Force Options Team), Regional SWAT, Mobile Field Force, 10851 Task Force, CSI, Regional Major Accident Investigation Team, Driving Team with firearms and force options team, Crisis Intervention Team (CIT), FBI Safe Streets Task Force, SET Team, Drone Team, Social Media Team, Community Resource Officer, School Resource Officer, and Field Training Officers. Specialty assignments may add an additional 5% pay. 

Officers work 12-hour shifts as part of a team concept. Shift schedules include 4-10 and 3-12, which may be changed periodically as job assignments may be rotated among patrol, traffic, and criminal investigation.  Night shifts include 5% additional pay. 

 

EDUCATION:

Academy Graduates (no sworn experience) - High school diploma and a minimum of 45 units of college-level course work, in addition to graduation from a P.O.S.T. basic academy.

Academy Graduate candidates with an honorable discharge may be credited with up to 15 semester units for a minimum of 3 years of active duty in the U.S. Armed Services (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard).

This vacancy is specifically for the Field Operations CSO position.

The City of Foster City is looking for a dedicated and responsible individual to join the Police Department as a Senior Community Services Officer. This position requires mature judgement and discretion and is given specialized training. We are seeking highly skilled individuals with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Under general supervision, this position supplements administrative staff and provides support for sworn staff in police operations. There are four main assignment areas for the position, but currently there is only one vacancy in Field Operations.

Field Operations Assignment
Performs vehicle abatement duties, provides parking enforcement, performs evidence collection and processing in accordance with departmental procedures, prepares police and operational reports. Responds to subpoenas as necessary. Handle a variety of department fleet maintenance and equipment maintenance duties; run errands in support of department operations, and other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities. A typical way would be:

Education: A high school diploma or equivalent with courses in office administration or specialized job training, with undergraduate college course work, specialized administrative or law enforcement education and/or training. An associate degree is desirable.

Experience: Two (2) years of full-time experience using computers, telephones, radios and other modern office equipment and programs including preparing, compiling and distributing records, budgets, reports and statistical information.

Special Requirements

Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed for relevant education, experience, training and other job related qualifications. Based upon a review of employment applications received, a limited number of the qualified applicants will be invited to participate in the examination process.

The process will consist of an Oral Panel Interview. An eligibility list will be established from those who pass the examination process with a score of 70% or higher.                                            TESTING PROCESS:

4. Physical Agility Testing

  • 99‑Yard Obstacle Course: 25 seconds

5. Final Interview

• Candidates who pass all prior stages will participate in the Chief’s Final Oral Interview.

THE POSITION: The Dixon Police Department is recruiting to fill full-time Police Officer positions at either the Academy Graduate Level or Lateral Level, as well as establish an employment eligibility list for future possible use. Dixon Police Officers are responsible for a wide variety of generalist police services. Opportunities for specialization and advancement are also available. The Dixon Police Department operates on a 12-hour shift schedule.

The City of Pleasant Hill is currently seeking applicants for Police Officer Trainee. The Trainee position is a non-sworn, entry-level position. As a Trainee, you will be assigned to attend an upcoming POST-approved Police Academy. Upon successful completion of the Academy, you will be eligible for appointment to the position of a sworn Police Officer.   

Sworn Police Officers can serve in patrol, traffic, investigations, and K-9 assignments. Other collateral opportunities include instructor positions (Firearms and Force Options Team), Regional SWAT, Mobile Field Force, 10851 Task Force, CSI, Regional Major Accident Investigation Team, Driving Team with firearms and force options team, Crisis Intervention Team (CIT), FBI Safe Streets Task Force, SET Team, Drone Team, Social Media Team, Community Resource Officer, School Resource Officer, and Field Training Officers. 

Police Officer Trainee Duties:

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Participate in and complete a prescribed law enforcement officer training program for entry level police officers, including training in report writing, laws of arrest and seizure, defensive driving, California Vehicle and Penal Codes, officer survival and physical fitness.
• Prior to entering the law enforcement academy training program, perform a wide variety of police support duties which may include dispatching and records, duties acting as desk officer and/or assisting in planning and research activities.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Typical Qualifications

• Observe accurately and remember names, faces, numbers, incidents and places.
• Learn to use and property care for firearms.
• Think and act quickly in emergencies, and judge situations and people accurately.
• Learn, understand, interpret and apply laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
• Prepare clear, accurate and grammatically correct written reports.

Ability to
 

• Successfully complete a training program for entry level Police Officer.
• Establish and maintain cooperative work relationships with those contact in the course of work.
• Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
• Meet standards of physical stature, endurance and agility established by the City.
• Meet the requirements for Police Officer contained in the California State Government Code.

Experience & Education: Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

• Experience: None required, although previous experience in law enforcement is desirable.
• Education:  High school diploma and 60 units of college-level course work. Candidates with an honorable discharge may be credited with up to 15 semester units for a minimum of 3 years of active duty in the U.S. Armed Services (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard).

The most qualified applicants, as evidenced by their application, will be invited for an oral board interview, which is weighted 100%. To be placed on an eligibility list, an applicant must receive a passing score of 70 or more from each panel member.

A thorough background check, as well as a physical, including a drug screen, psychological evaluation, and polygraph exam will be conducted on the top candidates prior to appointment consideration.  Failure to achieve a qualifying score on any portion of the examination process will eliminate a candidate from further consideration.

All applicants must be at least 21 years of age at time of appointment and meet the physical requirements set in the California P.O.S.T. screening manual.
