The Position: 

The City of Santa Clara Water and Sewer department has an opportunity for a position of As Needed Engineering Aide. Job responsibilities include, prepares scaled and dimensioned plans based on sketches prepared by engineering personnel, maintains records of as-builts and updates existing Utility maps and records utilizing ESRI-based GIS applications, Maintains master map files, including such records of block maps, sewer and water infrastructure maps, and other maps, Performs computing and drafting operations in AutoCAD, involved in checking drawings of utility facilities, perform other duties as assigned.

As an as-needed employee, this is an "at-will" position and there is no guarantee of hours. Hours are limited to 999 in a fiscal year or 960 hours in a fiscal year for retired CalPERS annuitants.

Under general supervision, a Police Officer is responsible for the performance of law enforcement duties to protect life and property in accordance with applicable laws, to carry out special assignments as necessary, and other related duties as assigned. A wide variety of assignments are available which include Patrol, Traffic, Narcotics, Detectives, Off-Road and Surface Street Motorcycle Patrol, Bike Patrol, Special Weapons Team, Crisis Negotiation Team, Canine, Background Investigations, School Liaison, Gang Suppression, Special Enforcement Section and Intelligence.

Requirements:

Candidates must have completed a California P.O.S.T. Certified Police Academy. Must be 21 years of age as of the appointment date, high school graduate or G.E.D., (as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education), and U.S. citizen or a permanent resident alien who is eligible and has applied for citizenship.

Out-of-State Candidates:

The California Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) will conduct an evaluation of all out-of-state training. POST is the sole authority on applicable training and determines whether the candidate must attend an abbreviated academy, or a regular police academy. If an academy is required, the candidate will be hired as a Police Officer Trainee. Upon completion of the academy, promotion will be made to Police Officer.

Selection Process:

Applicants passing the Oral Board examination will be placed on the eligibility list based on their Oral Appraisal Board rankings. The Town of Atherton is approximately five square miles. The City is located in the San Francisco Peninsula in Southern San Mateo County. Atherton is a small, rural, and residential community, with no industrial land-use base. Native trees cover the five miles of town. Atherton’s current population is 7,133 according to the California Census in 2020.       

The Town of Atherton invites you to apply for the position of Police Sergeant. This is an internal and external opportunity. Under the general supervision of the Police Commander, the Police Sergeant plans, schedules, deploys, trains, supervises, and reviews the work of Police Officers and civilian staff.  The Sergeant performs a wide range of patrol and related duties in the prevention of crime, maintenance of public order, protection of life and property, and the enforcement of laws and ordinances.  As part of the Management Team, the Sergeant assists in the preparation of collision investigations and criminal cases, provides courtroom testimony, serves in specialized organizational roles, and assists with various administrative functions.

THE POSITION

Under direction of the City Engineer or Assistant City Engineer, a Senior Civil Engineer supervises field and office work in the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of public infrastructure; manages land development processes; manages and performs engineering analysis; implements programs and administers projects; may supervise a major section in the Engineering Division; and performs other duties as assigned. The Senior Civil Engineer performs and supervises the most complex engineering assignments.

• Arroyo Trail T 13, 1.5 miles paved trail through Wente Vineyard and LARPD Sycamore Grove properties and includes a 100’ pedestrian bridge.

• Bridge Preventive Maintenance Program for 19 city bridges
• Manage other city asset programs such as pavement rehabilitation, sidewalk, ADA ramps.

The San José Fire Department's (SJFD) core mission is to serve the community by protecting life, property, and the environment through prevention and response. This is the trainee level class in the Firefighter series, responsible for becoming proficient in the understanding of lifesaving and firefighting methods within the SJFD. Through a specific program comprised of general and specialized education, focused training including extensive hands-on experience, Firefighter Recruits will learn diverse tasks, policies, procedures and standards within the SJFD.
