Job Description

This position performs preventive, routine and emergency maintenance and repair of a variety of heavy and light industrial and marine equipment, related systems and components. The incumbent will operate precision equipment and respond to trouble calls associated with the Port's ferry terminal systems, boats, sewer pumps and other Port related equipment. The nature of this work requires sustained physical effort frequently under adverse weather conditions and/or working in confined spaces. The incumbent may be required to work alternative shifts in order to do tide-dependent work.

Nature of Work: Some positions may involve exposure to adverse physical and working condition and lifting objects weighing in excess of 70 pounds. Incumbents will be required to work varying hours and/or shifts, including weekends, evening and holidays in a 24 hour/7 days-a week operation.

Salary Information
The salary range for Maintenance Worker II is $64,604.80- $78,582.40.
Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates' qualifications and experience.The Department of Public Works is seeking to fill a Maintenance Worker I position in the HVAC Shop located at the Central Service Yard within the Facilities Management Division. The Maintenance Worker I will support the basic preventative maintenance of the air conditioning work group. This position reports directly to the Air Conditioning Supervisor for various daily assignments. Working under immediate supervision and working with HVAC Staff and/or independently in mechanical rooms and on rooftops would be a regular occurrence.

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

• Performs preventive maintenance functions on Exhaust Fans, HVAC Package units and Air Handlers.
• Clean HVAC Cooling Towers and Mechanical Rooms.
• Install V-belts on HVAC Equipment.
• Uses general carpentry, mechanical and hand tools such as power saws, hand saws, drills, pliers, wrenches, hammers, screwdrivers, ladders and other tools and equipment.
• Installs air filters in various types of air conditioning equipment.
• Cleans aluminum finned condenser and evaporator coils.
• Performs minor semi-skilled carpentry and plumbing repair work.
• Maintains database records of their daily work with the Departments inventory management system.

This position may require working some weekends and/or holidays. Ability to perform the essential functions of this position will be determined by a post-offer medical examination conducted by City of San Jose Employee Health Services.

The HVAC SHOP maintains all City-Wide Facilities, including Police Buildings. The San Jose Police Department requires all civilians working at their facilities pass a background check and obtain a Civilian Police Badge. The Maintenance Worker I candidate will be expected to apply for and successfully pass the Police Department background check, to successfully pass their probationary period.

The City of Berkeley is now accepting applications for the position of Health Services Program Specialist! In this role, you will plan and manage a specialized health program. San Mateo Medical Center is seeking an experienced Surgery Scheduling Specialist for a Full-Time, Extra-help position for the Surgery Department. The Surgery Scheduling Specialist provides technical, complex and specialized administrative support to surgeons and patients scheduled for surgery, which includes interaction with operating room staff and patients; handles multiple competing priorities; interacts with diverse customer groups; handles multiple patient-related tasks such as tracking patient financials to ensure information is correctly entered; and moves patients from the clinic to the operating room, including all pre-operative processes necessary for the patients prior to surgery, pre-op process sheets and clinic schedules, data entry of items into the operative database, financial reconciliation, and post-op order sets, and may have some responsibilities for ordering supplies or equipment.
 
The ideal candidate for this position will possess excellent communications skills, including the ability to communicate complex medical terminology to a variety of people with varying levels of medical knowledge. In addition, they would possess skills in conflict resolution, and problem solving. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work with challenging patients, and patients who may have a language or communication barrier. This position will require attention to detail, and therefore the ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
 
NOTE: The ability to speak, read and write in fluent English and Spanish is preferred for this position.
 
 Duties for this position may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Tracking patient financials to be sure they are correctly entered.
• Scheduling patients in the procedure clinic.

San Mateo Medical Center and its clinics are currently seeking well-qualified candidates for Physical Therapist II to provide outpatient and/or inpatient services at San Mateo Medical Center - Main Campus in San Mateo, CA. Currently, there is a Limited-Term, Full-Time vacancy and an Extra-Help, part-time vacancy. 

These positions would provide outpatient and/or inpatient services physical therapy evaluations and treatments for a variety of orthopedic and neurologic conditions.

Physical Therapists manage patients with a wide range of diagnoses, chronic and acute, and are part of a dynamic treatment team. In addition, Physical Therapists identify patient challenges and develop goals and a care plan with reasonable outcomes for the individual's life/work settings. Daily opportunities are created in this assignment through the variety of illnesses/injuries seen in our patient population.

Physical Therapists work at SMMC as part of a County rehabilitation program, which provides evaluation, education and treatment. The therapeutic program at SMMC is oriented toward inpatients and outpatients with acute and chronic problems while providing therapy to inpatients with a need for long or short-term rehabilitation.

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of one year of work experience providing care in an outpatient setting with an interest in covering inpatient when the census justifies. The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Camp Maintenance Mechanic (Non-Career Intermittent) in the Parks, Recreation and Waterfront Department! In this role, you will have the opportunity to keep our camps running smoothly by performing both routine and heavy, physical work in the construction, maintenance, repair and cleaning of camp facilities. You'll operate a variety of hand and power tools to perform preventive maintenance and repair.

Our two overnight camps are located near South Lake Tahoe and Yosemite. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

State of California Drinking Water Treatment Certifications (Grade 1 or 2) desirable. San Mateo County Health is seeking an experienced individual for the position of Public Health Clinics Process Improvement Manager that plans, oversees, and provides a wide variety of administrative, analytical, and work-flow support on a County-wide level; analyzes practices and procedures and makes recommendations for organizational, operational, policy, and procedural improvements; conducts needs analysis, feasibility studies, and program evaluation for assigned projects and programs; develops, summarizes, and maintains administrative and fiscal records; fosters cooperative working relationships among County departments and acts as liaison with various community, public, and regulatory agencies; and performs related work as required.

 

There is currently one regular vacancy in the Public Health, Policy and Planning Division, located in San Mateo, but the position will include travel/driving throughout the county to perform duties of the job.

 

This management position will report to the Public Health Clinics Manager, overseeing Edison Clinics and Mobile Clinics and will have broad project management responsibility for key strategic efforts affecting the Public Health clinics, and will exercise direct and general supervision over assigned professional, technical, and office support staff.

 

Primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Quality assurance and improvement: build and visualize data in management reports and dashboards; convert data to information and use it to guide process improvement.
• Process improvement: facilitate, document, track, organize, and measure progress, e.g., conduct improvement work within daily huddles.
• Project management: lead projects and provide ad hoc support of projects.
• Knowledge management: inventory and maintain infrastructure of core programmatic documents and processes, how files are stored and shared.
• Partnership building: support internal staff operational needs; coordinate with other stakeholders, such as staff from Behavioral Health & Recovery Services, Human Services Agency, Health IT, San Mateo Medical Center, grant makers, state agencies, etc.
• Management of staff: supervise and influence when appropriate on projects.
• Contract and MOU support: assist Clinics Manager to write scopes of work, produce required reports and invoices for categorical funding and operational agreements.
• Revenue optimization support: oversee billing quality assurance and improvement, facilitate braided funding opportunities and oversight.
• Policy and procedures facilitation: maintain inventory and lead update processes through completion, including occasional initial literature reviews or research and coordination of stakeholders.
• Change management and leadership synchronization: coordinate staff engagement, training, feedback to ensure successful system changes, facilitate leadership development and decision making, contribute to agendas, take meeting minutes, track on-going project work in support of meeting goals.

 

Ideal candidate will possess:

• Experience with project management and process improvement as the lead.
• Knowledge and/or experience with: County of San Mateo; Public Health; healthcare clinics; vulnerable population care management including people experiencing homelessness; and HIV, Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), and other Communicable Diseases.
• Data skills including requirements gathering; ad hoc report building; data and dashboard management.
• Knowledge of and/or experience with information technology systems including Power Business Intelligence (BI); advanced Excel; eClinical Works (eCW); ARIES; Microsoft SharePoint; Epic; Workday reporting.
• Experience with change management, leadership development, and team culture-building.
• Demonstrated ability to be organized, diligent, perseverant, self-starter, independent learner, tenacious, self-reflective.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those encountered on the job and with political astuteness.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

 

Qualifications

Education and Experience :

Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in business or public administration, economics, planning, finance, or a related field, and five (5) years of increasingly responsible professional administrative and analytical experience in municipal government, including experience in budget, strategic planning, policy analysis, and organizational development.

Licenses and Certifications :

• Some positions may require a valid California driver's license.
