DEFINITION:

To assist in implementing, coordinating, and evaluating recreation and programs and events, including but not limited to Teen Programs, Youth Programs, After School Programs, Aquatic Programs and events, promotional events, special events and excursions.

• Experience scheduling, organizing, assigns, and monitors program volunteers.
• Is able to creates publications and flyers using Microsoft Office or web-based solutions like Canva.
• Is familiar and able to creates promotional materials, including press releases and social media posts.
• Experience in planning, coordinating, and directing events, programs, and activities.
• Able to work with others and create relationships with partner non-profit organization.
• Experience collecting data and creating reports from all senior programs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Implement, coordinate, and evaluate recreation programs, aquatics programs, special recreation events and services; publicize programs, events and services. Train, schedule and assign program staff and volunteers; assist in the development of staff evaluations. Assist with coordination and scheduling of the recreation or aquatics programs.  Promote and maintain safety in the work place. Maintain records and statistical data on programs. Issue, secure and maintain program equipment and supplies.  Regular, predictable, consistent and timely attendance is an essential function of the position, in that Employee must be present to work to complete assigned tasks.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of:

Community resources adaptable to the development of community services programs for specified recreation programs.  Principles of program coordination, training and evaluations.  Emergency procedures, First Aid and CPR.  Safety principles, practices and procedures.

Skill to:

Apply First Aid methods and safety precautions related to assigned programs.  Develop and maintain support for programs from the community and local organizations.  Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.  Oversee train and evaluate assigned staff.  Establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of the required duties.  Operate office equipment, including a personal computer.

Ability to:

Develop cooperative public relations with the general public.  Remain calm in stressful situations.  Be consistent when enforcing rules and regulations.  Maintain authority and control over programs.

Minimum Education and Experience:

Education:

High School diploma or equivalent.  Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in recreation or a related field is preferred.

Experience:

Two (2) year of increasing responsible experience in the delivery of recreation services. A Bachelor’s Degree may be substituted for one year of experience.

License or Certificates:

When only assigned to recreation duties, the following is required and must be maintained during the course of employment.

• Required upon hire:
  •  Valid California Driver’s license,
• Required within six months of hire,
  • Possession and maintenance of a current American Red Cross First Aid Certificate or equivalent and
  • Current American Red Cross Community CPR Certificate or equivalent

Water Safety Instructor

Position Details:

Under general supervision of Recreation Services Supervisor, the Water Safety Instructor provides direction to Swim Instructor/Lifeguard staff at an assigned facility and ensures that the City of San Bruno guidelines, safety policies and procedures are being followed. The Water Safety Instructor ensures a safe and clean environment for customers, implements preventative Lifeguarding procedures, while monitoring programs. In emergencies, they must determine proper action and direct staff.  This position may be responsible for opening and closing buildings, managing swimming pool patrons and activities, monitoring facility use including facility and guest safety during rentals, setting up tables and chairs for rentals, City programs and events, performing light janitorial and custodial duties, ensuring compliance of established rules and procedures for the use of facilities, and performing other duties as required.

• Must test negative for Tuberculosis within the past 2 years
•  Must be patient and courteous with all members of the public
• Be dependable and punctual
• Ability to sit, stand and walk for long periods of time
• Ability to withstand exposure to the elements outdoors and in enclosed spaces

Working Conditions:

Work is assigned at both indoor and outdoor facilities, and may include exposure to unsanitary conditions, odors, cleaning chemicals, and some noise. The successful candidate must be able to work variable hours, including mornings, late evenings, holidays, and weekends.

Part-time temporary employees serve in an at-will capacity and understand that service with the City may be dismissed at any time. This position does not provide any benefits, apart from paid sick leave. In accordance with the Healthy Workplaces, Healthy Families Act of 2014, all temporary, part-time, and seasonal employees, who on or after July 1, 2015, work in California for 30 or more days within a year from the commencement of employment are entitled to paid sick leave for prescribed purposes.  Employees will accrue one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked and are entitled to use accrued sick days beginning on the 90th day of employment. The City of Auburn is hiring a part-time Bus Driver I/II.  Under general supervision, this position operates a bus over designated routes to transport passengers; maintains established schedule; and ensures passenger safety.

This position is limited to work no more than 999 hours per fiscal year and is considered half-time. Placement in the classification is dependent on qualifications. The salary range for each level is below:

• Bus Driver I:  $45,864 - $58,552
• Bus Driver II:  $48,152 - $61,484

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

• Drive a bus over a designated route to transport passenger in accordance with established time schedule; follow all rules and regulations including those in the vehicle code and motor carries commercial diver’s handbook.

The City of American Canyon Parks & Recreation Department invites energetic, creative and responsible individuals to apply for the position of Program Coordinator. Program Coordinators are part-time, temporary staff members who work under Recreation Coordinators to oversee and implement a wide range of recreation programming. Program Coordinators may be asked to provide recreation leadership, supervision, and assistance in various recreation programs, including day camp, youth and adult sports, special events and outdoor spaces.

This position is well-suited for applicants with experience as a Recreation Leader or Youth Leader, can work independently, and effectively lead staff members.

Being a Program Coordinator can include working shifts that are scheduled during early mornings, nights, weekends and holidays all year around.  This is a position that is considered temporary/part-time and employees are limited to no more than 980 hours per fiscal year.

Under general supervision, plans, organizes, coordinates, develops, implements, promotes and evaluates assigned program areas and provides lead direction to lower-level staff and volunteers.

This Recruitment is for Returning Moraga Day Camp staff. The returning Recreation Leader I and II position has previous experience working for Moraga Day Camp and is responsible for providing high-level programs and services through the Parks and Recreation Department which provide concrete, positive experiences for youth and which promote qualities that are essential to raising successful young people.

The City of Newark is currently accepting applications for Police Officer Trainees - Entry Level and Academy Attendees. 

THE POSITION:

The Police Officer Trainee position is an entry level position, requiring no prior law enforcement experience. Applicants are required to possess a valid California Driver’s License, be legally authorized to work in the U.S and be at least 21 years old at time of swear-in. All applicants must possess a strong moral character, as well as good work ethic and maturity. All candidates will be required to undergo comprehensive testing processes to determine their physical and mental suitability for a career in Law Enforcement.

The Police Officer Trainee is a temporary employee.  The trainee attends a P.O.S.T. certified academy.  Upon successful completion of the academy, the trainee will be eligible for appointment to the position of Police Officer.  New Police Officers will receive benefits available to regular employees and will serve an 18-month probationary period.

The Newark Police Department is a modern, progressive law enforcement agency with 59 sworn and 27 professional staff employees. Well qualified officers enjoy specialty assignments and promotions based upon training and experience. The Lifeguard/Swim Instructor position may be assigned to the following areas:

Lifeguard

Under general supervision, the Lifeguard performs lifeguard duties in enforcing City public swimming pool rules and monitoring pool patron conduct; perform emergency rescue and lifesaving techniques.

Swim Instructor

Under general supervision, the Swim Instructor performs swim instructor duties in planning, coordinating and teaching swimming and water safety courses, enforcing City public swimming pool rules and monitoring pool patron conduct.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties are normal for this classification. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to this class.

Lifeguard

• Enforce swimming pool rules and regulations, including ensuring orderly conduct by pool patrons.
• Assist in providing instruction for a variety of swimming classes for all ages and ability levels. Assist swimmers who are in distress and administer a variety of first aid and/or life saving techniques, as appropriate.
• Assist in maintaining pool areas in a safe and clean condition.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other City employees and the public using principles of good customer service.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Swim Instructor

• Assist in providing instruction for a variety of swimming classes for all ages and ability levels.
• Assist in maintaining pool areas in a safe and clean condition.
