The City of Thousand Oaks has an exciting opportunity for a Code Compliance Supervisor in the Community Development Department! We are seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented individual to supervise and lead staff in the enforcement of municipal code compliance, investigation techniques and practices, and interpretation of regulations.

The Code Compliance Supervisor must be highly knowledgeable in code compliance programs and federal, state, and local policies, laws, and regulations.

Primary responsibilities:

• Plans, organizes, supervises, and evaluates code compliance program activities and operations within the Community Development Department; develops, implements, and monitors work plans to achieve goals and objectives;
• Provides leadership and works with staff to ensure a high-performance, customer service-oriented work environment through selection, training, and day-to-day supervision practices that support achieving the Department’s and the City’s mission, objectives, and values;
• Recommends and implements goals, objectives, policies, and procedures for providing code compliance programs;
• Performs the more technical and complex tasks of the work unit including the most difficult and complex municipal code violations for residential and/or commercial buildings to ensure compliance with City, state and federal regulations governing code compliance;
• Keeps informed of changes and new legislation pertaining to zoning compliance and regulations affecting work of the department, ensuring that appropriate staff is informed and current.

The City of Simi Valley is recruiting for two Assistant Public Works Directors as a result of one retirement and the establishment of a second Assistant Director position. One Assistant Director will be responsible for engineering and environmental compliance, and the second will be responsible for waterworks operations, sanitation operations, and maintenance operations. Details:

• Part-time regular position, must be willing to work varied hours including operational holidays, Saturdays, early morning hours (from 4:30 a.m.), and/or evenings (until 8:30 p.m.)
• Pay ranges from $22.51 - $28.77 hourly with Excellent Benefits (see below)
  • This position will receive a four percent (4%) cost of living increase effective April 2024. The new salary range effective April 2024, will be $23.41 - $29.92 hourly

Minimum Qualifications for consideration: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Education/Training: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade

Experience: One year of experience in the operation of a transit vehicle.

License or Certificate: Possession of an appropriate, valid commercial driver’s license with passenger endorsement. Possession of a valid Medical Examination Certification. Possession of, or ability to obtain within the initial training period, a Verification of Transit Training certificate.
