The San José Fire Department's (SJFD) core mission is to serve the community by protecting life, property, and the environment through prevention and response. SJFD is a high-volume, all-hazards fire department providing fire suppression and rescue services that protects approximately 200 square miles, Advanced Life Support and Basic Life Support services as well as specialized operations including Urban Search and Rescue, Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting, and a Hazardous Material Unit with a Decontamination Unit. This is the trainee level class in the Firefighter series, responsible for becoming proficient in the understanding of lifesaving and firefighting methods within the SJFD. Through a specific program comprised of general and specialized education, focused training including extensive hands-on experience, Firefighter Recruits will learn diverse tasks, policies, procedures and standards within the SJFD. Incumbents will learn techniques in emergency medical services, rescue work, firefighting and other emergency services. Duties may involve considerable physical exertion and potential risk to health and safety. Work is rigidly structured, highly supervised, and incumbents are continuously evaluated and receive feedback regularly. Firefighter Recruits must graduate from the Academy and be appointed to the class of Firefighter in order to retain employment in the job series.

The Security Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing and coordinating organization-wide security services at Valley Water. Reporting to the Assistant Officer of Emergency, Security & Safety, this mid-management position is responsible for planning, managing, and executing strategic security initiatives to protect Valley Water's infrastructure, assets and staff, and the community. • Leads efforts to explore new tools and technologies to improve existing physical security and add security assets to new facilities and property.
• Works collaboratively and engages with appropriate social service and law enforcement agencies to address un-housed abatement in Valley Water creeks and other properties; fulfills security requests to support field work.
• Administers contracts for security and security related services; reviews and evaluates compliance of contractor services with Valley Water’s contract standards and provisions; recommends improvements as required in procedures, techniques, and training.
• Provides staff leadership, oversight, guidance, and daily management of assigned unit; develops and implements goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for assigned programs; manages budgets and forecasts resource needs.
• Plans, directs, coordinates, and reviews the work of assigned staff; provides staff and performance reviews and implements discipline measures and manages the Security Office on-call program.
• Oversees, makes recommendations for, and approves the acquisition of security system hardware and software purchases.

• Establishes ongoing relationships with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, including the Northern California Regional Intelligence Center (NCRIC); monitors notifications of intelligence, information and alerts from the Office of Homeland Security, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Energy, Department of Transportation, U.S. Bureau of Reclamation and the Awareness National Security Intelligence Reports, as well as the Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies and American Water Works Association.

THE POSITION

The City of Rocklin is hiring Academy Graduate Police Officers to join the Rocklin Police Department. Working Conditions

Benefits

• $86,683 to $105,364 annually
• Non-exempt employees assigned to a 56-hour (average) workweek schedule will receive pay for overtime as defined in the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). All overtime shall be paid at a rate of one and one-half (1 ½) times the regular hourly rate of pay.
• All covered employees hired on or after December 28, 2012, who are not defined as “new members” under the Public Employees Pension Reform Act (“PEPRA”) will be covered by the 3% @ 55 retirement formula and the 36 highest consecutive months’ final compensation provision.  All covered employees hired on or after January 1, 2013, and who are defined as “new members” under PEPRA will be covered by the 2.7% at 57 retirement formula and the 36 highest consecutive months’ final compensation provision. 
• Regular employees, after completion of their probationary period, shall be eligible for the Health Care Reimbursement Program. Eligible employees receive a credit of $1300 each January 1.
• For all regular employees working full time, the District will pay 85% of the premiums currently in effect for employee and dependent coverage for the lowest cost plan available to District employees offered through the PERS system.
• For all regular employees working full-time, the District will pay 85% of the premiums for employee and dependent coverage for the lowest-cost dental plan.  In the event the employees elect a higher cost coverage, the employees shall pay the increased cost for that plan.
• A Group Life Insurance Plan will be provided with a $25,000 life insurance policy for each unit member, a $1,000 policy for each employee's spouse, and a $1,000 for each employee's dependent under the age of 21.  The CCSD will pay the full monthly premium for each unit member, spouse, and dependent children.
• Covered employees assigned to a 56-hour average workweek schedule shall accrue 4.31 hours of vacation leave biweekly (112 hrs/yr) from the date of hire to sixty (60) months of service.
• Each full-time employee, assigned to a 56-hour average workweek, shall accrue sick leave from the date of employment at the rate of 6.4 hours per 14-day payroll period (based on 120 hours per year times the conversion factor of 1.4).
• In lieu of time off on holidays, covered employees assigned to a 56-hour workweek shall accrue 5.92 hours of holiday leave per 14-day payroll period for a total of 154 hours per year (based on 110 hours per year times the conversion factor of 1.4). 
• The District shall provide covered employees with an annual boot or safety shoe allowance of $250, payable in July of each year.

In the Land Use Division of the Planning Department, incumbents are responsible for: Tracking permit activity; Researching zoning history, land use policies, development trends, and precedents; Supporting commission meetings; Preparing written reports and presenting to commissions, committees, community members, and other boards; Assisting in preparing amendments to the General Plan, Municipal Code, and/or other policy and procedure documents. Applicants will be expected to use a variety of software to maintain and update electronic forms, databases, and records, as well as creating maps and graphics in GIS and Adobe Creative Suite.

In the Transportation Division of the Public Works Department, incumbents are responsible for: Assisting with research, planning, conceptual design, and delivery of transportation and parking projects; drafting public notification materials, assisting with organizing and/or attending outreach events, and conducting in-person outreach; producing maps and graphics for transportation projects and parking operations; assisting with the City's coordination and monitoring of privately-operated shared mobility programs, including bicycle sharing and scooter sharing; assisting with preparation of transportation plans and policy documents, including the Pedestrian Master Plan Update, transportation impact analysis guidelines, and Complete Streets Policy implementation guidelines; and supporting the ongoing operation of the City's demand-based parking pricing program (goBerkeley), including conducting periodic data collection, analyzing data in Excel and GIS, and assisting with preparation of parking policy documents.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this classification is:
Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college with major coursework in city, regional, or urban planning, or a closely related field. Progressively responsible related experience may be substituted for the college coursework on a year-for-year basis.

A valid California driver's license is desirable. Must be able to attend evening meetings as required.

The actual salary shall be determined by the final candidate's qualifications and experience. The Zookeeper classification is subject to the City's pay floor rate $26.66 hourly for full-time benefited and $28.04 hourly for part-time unbenefited Zookeeper positions. This hourly rate consists of a base amount and an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing compensation pay.

Salary range: $49,030.80- $ 59,535.84 annually.

This salary range(s) includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates' qualifications and experience.

About Happy Hollow Park & Zoo (HHPZ): This is a 16-acre amusement park and Association of Zoo's & Aquariums (AZA) accredited zoo located in San José, California. HHPZ is open year-round catering to families with children. It operates nine amusement park rides, showcases various endangered species, and operates one of the oldest classical puppet theaters in California, as well as offering many other playgrounds and attractions emphasizing play and imagination in a natural conservation setting.

About Zookeeper Full Time/Part Time: The position performs work involving the care and feeding of zoo, domestic farm, and/or non-domestic animals and maintenance of enclosures, grounds and service areas; working with animals under all types of climatic conditions to prepare them for presentations, training, capture and restraint, basic husbandry, and behavioral enrichment. In addition, responding to general questions from the public regarding non-domestic and/or domestic animals.

Please note that schedules can vary every week or be on an "on call" basis depending on knowledge, training, and experience with specific animal routines. These positions will be required to work weekends, evenings, and holidays, during all climactic conditions as assigned and must have the ability to enter animal areas and perform physical work (including lifting objects up to 50 lbs.).
