This department is seeking to fill one (1) full-time Power Resources Specialist I/II position to support the Power Resources Division.

The Power Resources Specialist I/II position reports to a Principal Power Resources Specialist in the Power Resources Division. This position is part of an exciting, fast-paced team responsible for procuring hundreds of megawatts of renewable energy projects.

The selected candidate will have the following duties and responsibilities:

• Supports the preparation, issuing, and evaluation of solicitations related to Energy, Resource Adequacy and Renewable Energy Credits.
• Assists with the evaluation of pre- and post-release solicitation materials for long-term energy projects such as stand-alone and collocated energy storage, wind, and solar resources.
• Assists in the management, analyzing, and enforcing of power contracts, including long-term energy contracts through development, construction, and operation.
• Assists in the management and resolution of matters related to resources performance within the California Independent System Operator's energy and capacity markets.
• Supports SJCE Scheduling Agent, particularly focusing on stand-alone and collocated storage and renewables, based on SJCE's internal strategies and policies.
• Conducts primary research related to SJCE obligations within the CAISO, CPUC, and other regulatory frameworks with particular focus on matters related to stand-alone and collocated storage, and renewable energy assets.
• Participates in completing analysis and prepare procurement plans, including managing consultants, and developing procurement strategies.
• Supports and undertakes projects related to power, procurement, and validation; assists in the approval of energy purchases or sales of surplus energy.
• Participates in joint procurement with other Community Choice Aggregators (CCAs) and CA Community Power.
• Develops and maintain relationships with power suppliers and consultants.
• Assures compliance with Federal, State, and local requirements.

The Department of Public Works is currently seeking to fill multiple full-time Engineer I/II vacancies of different disciplines that may be assigned to work in the various divisions of the department including Transportation and Hydraulic Services (THS) or Development Services (DS).

Transportation and Hydraulic Services Division The Transportation and Hydraulics Services Division is responsible for the design, construction, and master plan of bridges, culverts, streets, sidewalks, storm and sanitary sewers, pump stations, streetlights, landscape and hardscape improvements, traffic signals, and supports construction and engineering, upgrade and revitalization of the San Jose-Santa Clara Regional Wastewater Facility. In addition, this division provides general engineering plan review for general projects and electrical engineering review for projects constructed by private developers.

Development Services Division

The Development Services Division provides development plan review and construction of City infrastructure in conjunction with the private development process, administers permits for work within City's streets, and provides utilities services.

Airport Capital Improvements Program

The Airport Division Capital Improvements team is responsible for the project management and delivery of capital projects related to San Jose Mineta International Airport.

City Facilities Architectural Services Division CFAS Division has the primary responsibility for the delivery of capital improvements projects on City properties and provides design and construction services for public buildings, landscape improvements, and capital maintenance projects, including recreational facilities, parks, trails, libraries, public safety facilities, and various cultural facilities.

Engineering Services Division

The Engineering Services Division is comprised of four sections: Construction Management Services, Structural Engineering and Code Inspection, Material Testing Laboratory, and Survey. This division provides technical support services to City Capital Improvement Programs and Projects, development/utility permit projects, and other citywide customers.

The ideal candidates will possess a high level of professionalism, excellent customer service skills, and supreme work ethic. Under the direction of an Associate Engineer, these candidates may perform the following key responsibilities:

     * Perform complex calculations and data management tasks using MS Excel

     * Coordinate with contractors and/or other City departments to plan and develop City projects

     * Perform a range of work in the field of design, project management or construction project management

     * Assist in the revision of City of San José standard plans and specifications as needed

The City of Saratoga is currently recruiting to fill a full-time Accounting Technician position within the Administrative Services Department. The incumbent will report to the Finance Manager.

The Accounting Technician, under general supervision, performs journey-level technical and administrative account support duties associated with preparing, maintaining, and processing accounts receivable and accounts payable records and transactions. The incumbent’s duties include reconciling accounts and ledgers, preparing financial reports, batch runs and wire transfers, tracking and maintaining manual and computerized accounting and financial records, establishing and updating vendor records, and performing related duties as assigned. As a community owned, not for profit municipal electric utility, Silicon Valley Power (SVP) has provided dependable electric service for over 125 years. SVP is the only full service, vertically integrated publicly owned utility in Silicon Valley owning generation, transmission and distribution assets.  As a Public Electric Utility, Santa Clara’s Silicon Valley Power is not driven by profits, as reflected in its significantly lower utility rates when compared to other private sector utilities. Silicon Valley Power is community and policy driven, which is reflected in the many green policies that it promotes, reduced rates and its strategic plan. Silicon Valley Power is one of few public electric utilities in California with an upward trajectory of growth.
 
Today, SVP owns, operates and participates in more than 1,200 MW of electric generating resources and serves a peak load of approximately 700 MW. SVP's expansion plan will double our system capacity over the next ten years. The Position: 
 
This is a professional position in the unclassified service, responsible for managing the one or more of the Engineering Divisions of the Electric Department relating to transmission planning, distribution engineering, capital improvement project delivery (design & construction), system expansion program, and environmental compliance.  The position requires a demonstrated ability to work well with management, professional and administrative support employees in the Department and with customers, professionals, managers and all City Departments.

Typical Duties

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

Under general direction: 
• Plan, develop, coordinate, perform, and direct the activities of the Engineering Division of the Electric Utility Department;
• Provide management and supervision for all activities of Engineering in the planning, engineering and design of individual system extensions, revisions and improvements;
• Provide recommendations on a broad spectrum of division-related issues;
• Manage assigned staff, provide technical instructions and assistance as necessary; develop, perform and manage the implementation of utility plans based upon applicable State and Federal laws;
• May be responsible for directing the activities of consultants and contractors;
• Attend meetings and work with engineers, contractors, specialists and City staff to ensure that City guidelines are met in the determination of requirements of projects;
• Represent the City at industry meetings, management groups, professional organizations, and other meetings;
• Make periodic and special reports, which describe the current Engineering Division activities and conduct special studies and prepare reports, including findings and recommendations, as required;
• Direct or conduct studies and analysis related to the reliability of the electric system to ensure compliance with appropriate Federal Energy Regulatory Commission/North American Electric Reliability Corporation (FERC/NERC) and industry reliability standards;
• Prepare or direct the preparation of purchase specifications required to implement Electric Utility Department purchases in connection with system expansion and improvements;
• Conduct review and analysis of new equipment, methods and materials pertinent to the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the electric system, and make recommendations to appropriate Managers;
• Confer with and assist the Director of Electric Utility in the development of long-range plans, goals and objectives, and budgets;
• Manage, schedule and evaluate the work of Engineering Division staff, and develop processes designed to support a continuous learning environment;
• Analyze Engineering Division operations to determine the most efficient and effective assignment of staff;
• Prepare the Engineering Division budget, recommend allocation of division funds within guidelines; monitor expenditures to ensure adherence to the approved budget, manage contractual services;
• Administer and assist in the staffing, administrative and financial matters of the Engineering Division; and
• Perform other related duties as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Education or experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or closely related field; and
• Four (4) years experience at a responsible level in engineering in the electric utility industry or closely related field is required. 

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE
• One (1) year of experience managing staff, and with responsibility for division budget planning and administration is desirable.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
• Possession of a certificate of registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of California is desirable.

POSSIBLE SUBSTITUTION
• Possession of a valid certificate of registration as an Electrical Engineer issued by the California State Board of Registration for Civil and Professional Engineers may be substituted in lieu of a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or closely related field.

DESCRIPTION:
Silicon Valley Power, Maps & Records department has an excellent opportunity for the position of Engineering Aide (Electric). Job responsibilities include, prepares scaled and dimensioned plans based on sketches prepared by engineering estimating personnel, maintains records of as-builts and updates existing SVP maps and records utilizing ESRI-based GIS applications, Maintains master map files, including such records of block maps, street light maps, fiber communication, electric utility single line and operating diagrams and other maps, Performs computing and drafting operations in AutoCAD, involved in checking drawings of electric utility facilities, perform other duties as assigned.

The annual salary range for this position is $78,246.00 - $100,037.52. This position will be filled at or near the bottom of the salary range. 

Typical Duties

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
 
Under general supervision:
• Participates in field survey activities such as assisting with measuring and recording distances and elevation using Global Positioning System (GPS) equipment
• Prepares maps and drawings using geographic information system (GIS) tools to place symbols and apply color codes for the identification of facilities
• Receives, reviews, provides comments, files, and returns maps, documents, and plans using AUTOCAD
• Performs scaling and dimensioning to verify the accuracy of maps and plans
• Assists in conducting field inventory of existing primary and secondary conductors, transformers, switches, poles, pole attachments, manholes, and conduit locations
• Draws and updates electrical schematic diagrams, panel wiring diagrams, substation layout drawings using AUTOCAD, and organizes associated documentation
• Prepares scaled and dimensioned plans, using AUTOCAD based on sketches prepared by engineering/estimating personnel
• Operates a computer and standard office plotting/copying equipment
• Conducts records research including job files, property ownership, easement and right-of-way records
• Maintains records of equipment databases, log books, and map inventories
• Operates passenger vehicles requiring Class C driver's license
• Orders office drafting supplies, manages outside reproduction services, and coordinates vendor services for office drafting equipment maintenance
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum Qualifications:
• Graduation from an accredited junior college with an Associate of Arts degree or higher in engineering or its equivalent, including satisfactory completion of college level courses in writing, mathematics, engineering and related courses; and
• One (1) year working with geographic information system (GIS) tools and systems or one (1) year working with computer-aided drafting (AUTOCAD).
 
Desirable Qualifications:
• One year (1) experience working with computer-aided drafting (AUTOCAD) and one year (1) experience working with geographic information system (GIS).
• Completion of courses in GIS and AUTOCAD.
 
Possible Substitutions:
• Three (3) years of work experience performing mapping/drafting activities of electric utility facilities, involving the use of CAD and GIS systems and tools may substitute for the required education and experience.
 
LICENSE
Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license is required at the time of appointment and for the duration of employment.

• Employees are required to pass initial and periodic comprehensive background checks, which may include fingerprinting, to meet Federal, State and/or industry security requirements.
• Must be able to perform all the essential functions of the job assignment.
