The Thousand Oaks Library is in search of a Library Assistant who will be a key player in the Technical Services of the Access Services Division. This role offers a unique opportunity to perform a diverse range of library-related clerical duties, from ordering and invoicing to cataloging and processing. Primary Responsibilities:
- Instruct, coordinate, and schedule Library Pages or volunteers on library procedures; assist with scheduling and overseeing activities.
- Participates in overseeing the day-to-day operations and services of Technical Services from acquisitions, receiving, and invoicing to cataloging and processing.
- Acquisitions: place orders with vendors, ensure orders are received physically and in Sierra, the Library Services Platform; resolve damaged items issues; manage canceled titles; find alternate vendors to fulfill the order. Liaise between vendors and staff to meet the needs of the library.
- Perform bookkeeping tasks to ensure invoices accurately reflect goods received; post weekly to update the Fund Report in the integrated library system.
- Perform copy cataloging of physical materials, including books, DVDs, or Spoken Word, following existing procedures based on industry-established cataloging standards to update bibliographic records.
- Ability to interpret general library policies and procedures and apply knowledge using sound judgment
