PLANNING INTERN JOB DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES

The Planning Intern will have the opportunity to assist in a variety of tasks and duties involved in day to day operations of the Planning Department. The Planning Department is responsible for overseeing and guiding development in the Town of Moraga.

Typical Duties:

• Assist staff with Town permit applications, land use and zoning information.
• Assist staff with reviewing and processing development proposals.
• Complying with county, state and federal land use and environmental programs and regulations.
• Provide staff assistance to the Planning Commission, Design Review Board and Town Council.
• Assist in preparation, maintenance and/or verification of accounting, financial, statistical records, logs, ledgers and files.
• Conducts research on projects, studies, reports and related information for decision-making process.

Engineering Services Division (ES ) - Permits

The Senior Construction Inspector(s) assigned to Permits in the Engineering Services Division is responsible for coordinating, supervising, and performing materials sampling and testing of various construction materials to ensure compliance with City and State Standards and Specifications. Under the supervision of Principal Construction Inspectors, the candidate will perform the key responsibilities listed below.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

• Reviews plans and specifications and submittals for conformance to established standards for major construction projects.
• Reviews plans, drawings, and blueprints for completeness and accuracy and assures implementation of plan.
• Supervises, schedules, assigns, and directs activities for Associate Construction Inspectors, Engineering Technicians, Engineering Trainees, and Student Interns.

• Project management: scope development, procurement for resources (services and materials).
• Performs building assessments - assesses and documents the condition of building envelops and hard surfaces, interior coverings to include walls, flooring, ceilings, etc.
• Available to perform overtime duties on weekends, holidays, midnight or swing shift when requested .
• Performs Public Works emergency duties, such as flood watch when required .
• Investigate and respond to construction inquires/complaints from other departments or the public.

The Public Works Department is recruiting for an Operations & Maintenance Superintendent, who, under general direction from the Operations & Maintenance Manager, will oversee the operations and maintenance activities of the Facilities, Streets, Parks, and Vehicle Maintenance divisions. This position will manage budgets of the respective divisions, supervise and guide division supervisors, and advance technical knowledge and skills to affect the research, analysis, planning, and implementation of operations functions.

THE POSITION:

This position performs the following essential job duties (including but not limited to):

• Provide leadership, direction, and supervision to operations and maintenance staff, including assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and providing feedback and coaching.

• Develop and implement operational plans, policies, and procedures to ensure the efficient delivery of services.

• Prepare reports and presentations on asset performance, budget projections, and recommendations for capital improvements.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, codes, and standards governing public works operations and maintenance activities.
• Coordinate safety program for department staff ensuring proper training and protocol.

• Graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent, supplemented with training/education in supervisory principles.
• Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in streets maintenance and repair, parks maintenance, facilities maintenance and/or vehicle maintenance, including a minimum of two (2) years in a supervisory capacity.
• Training/experience in database management and/or experience using database systems is highly desirable.

DEFINITION

Develop, organize, and implement delivery of recreation and social services to the citizens of Danville in accordance with program objectives set forth by the Recreation, Arts and Community Services Department. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Program Coordinator will be responsible for implementing a variety of recreational, social and educational programs and services for youth, ages preschool through high school.  Work closely with the Town's Police Services Department, School District, community and human services agencies.  Motivate and facilitate various youth groups.

Specific to Sports & Fitness and Facility Management

Responsible for the development and implementation of sports programming, including aquatics, and organizing a variety of recreational sports leagues for youth and adults.  Work closely with the school district.  Supervises seasonal Aquatics program to include staff training and in-services. Requires a basic understanding of sports terminology, concepts, and rules. Responsible for sports & fitness fee classes offered in the Danville Activity Guide.  Support facility management through facility rentals.

QUALIFICATIONS

LICENSE(S) AND CERTIFICATION(S)

Possession of a valid California State Driver's License, or license in another state with the ability to obtain a California license within 30 days of hire. First Aid and CPR certification is required but may be obtained during probationary period.

The City is seeking a Division Manager to manage all services and activities in the Safety Division of the Human Resources Department. The Safety Manager will report to the Assistant Director of Human Resources and will be responsible for administering the City of San José's extensive safety program, which includes Worker's Compensation, Employee Health Services, Injury and Illness Prevention Programs, City Driving Program, Safety Show Voucher Program, and ergonomics. The City of Vacaville is accepting applications for the position of Assistant/Associate Planner in the Community Development Department. Currently, one (1) vacancy exists in the Advance Planning Division, but this recruitment will also establish an eligibility list to be used for any future Assistant/Associate Planner vacancies over the next 12-month period.  

The Assistant/Associate Planner position is flexible in staffing and may be filled at either the Assistant (entry) level or Associate (journey) level, depending on candidates' qualifications and departmental needs. Individuals in the Assistant Planner role may progress to the Associate Planner level upon meeting higher-level qualifications.

Under the direction of the Director of Public Works or their designee, the Management Analyst I performs a variety of journey-level, professional and technical administrative duties in support of Public Works. Work assigned may be in a specific program area and/or to perform administrative duties in support of a division of Public Works or the department as a whole, including research and analysis. The incumbent plans, manages, implements, and evaluates assigned programs, systems, procedures and operations; and coordinates assignments with other departments and outside agencies. Performs other duties as assigned.

The Management Analyst I plays a vital role in supporting the efficient operation of the Public Works department and will be responsible for:

• Asset Management and Tracking: Facilitating the acceptance of new streets and utilities into the City’s inventory and maintaining meticulous records of maintenance activities through ArcGIS. 

• Optimizing Fleet Operations: Ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and requirements such as annual use reporting, emissions, registration, vehicle/fuel procurement and inventory systems. 

• Public Communications, Marketing, and Stakeholder Outreach: Assisting in the development and execution of public communication strategies, marketing campaigns, and stakeholder outreach initiatives to enhance community engagement and awareness of Public Works programs and projects.

• Department and Division Budgeting: Collaborating with departmental stakeholders to assist in budget preparation, tracking, forecasting, and contributing to the development and publication of the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) bi-annually.

• Sanitary Sewer System Program Management: Supporting the management and implementation of the Sanitary Sewer System program by overseeing tasks such as managing and updating sewer lateral ordinances, updating sewer rates, calculating and tracking Equivalent Dwelling Units (EDUs), and updating the Sanitary System Management Plan and annual reporting Plan in compliance with regulatory requirements.

• Personnel Functions: Acting as a liaison to Human Resources and assisting in various personnel functions including recruiting, onboarding, training coordination, tracking, and calendar updates as necessary to ensure timely personnel management. 

• Contractor and Consultant Procurement: Supporting the procurement process for contractors and consultants, including contract administration and tracking of services rendered.

• Street, Tree and Neighborhood Assessment Districts: Managing Special District programs, including but not limited to, development of assessments, regular rate review and updates, stakeholder outreach, coordination and recommending required council action. 

Examples of Essential Duties (include but are not limited to):

• Support the assigned Department Head or manager in achieving division/department-wide goals and initiatives with analysis, management, and program development.
• Carry out special projects and assignments related to the overall objectives of the division or department. Examples of projects and assignments include but are not limited to: recruitment and training, grant-writing, research, marketing, public-private partnership opportunities, and others.
• Promote programs and stake; create marketing materials and newsletters and communicate with the public. 
• Perform research, conduct surveys, and provide statistical analysis and evaluation as assigned.
• Analyze federal and state laws and regulations as they relate to assigned programs and ensure appropriate compliance measures are included in policies and training.
• May be assigned to provide administrative support to a City board, commission, or committee which includes: preparing and distributing agendas, taking minutes, acting as a liaison.
• Coordinate and participate in training of personnel.
• Prepare comprehensive written reports regarding program activities.
• Regularly interact with other city staff, city council, community representatives and citizens regarding programs.
• Answer questions and provide information to the public, outside agencies, and City staff.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other City employees, and the public using principles of good customer service.

Salary:
$96,681.00 - $105,865.50 Annually (Engineer I)
$101,653.50 - $122,440.50 Annually (Engineer II)

Description:
There are currently three (3) full-time vacancies between the Engineering and Construction Divisions that will be filled at the Engineer I or Engineer II level. Candidates will be considered for the level(s) for which they meet minimum qualifications.

The Engineer I – II series provides technical support of the assessment of infrastructure, engineering planning, development and construction of capital improvement projects, traffic engineering and operations, and review of private development projects for conformance with County standards and requirements. The Engineer I – II reviews, analyzes, and prepares studies, technical reports, construction plans, specifications, estimates, schedules, and correspondence related to a variety of projects such as land development, flood control and drainage systems, commercial buildings, roads, traffic control systems, bridges, and other structures.

Opportunity:
Highly qualified Engineer I – II candidates will have the ability to apply principles of logic and scientific reasoning to develop, evaluate, and recommend courses of action or solutions to complex problems. Highly qualified candidates will be able to communicate verbally and in writing to effectively convey technical data and information. Work experience or advanced coursework related to the design or construction of roads, bike/pedestrian facilities, commercial buildings, drainage systems, utilities, traffic control systems, bridges or retaining walls is desired. Ideal candidates will be natural leaders with a desire to learn and grow within the organization, including earning their professional licensure in order to take on assignments of increasing responsibility.
