Position:

This is an on call, temporary, non-benefited position in our Urban Search and Rescue Warehouse in East Palo Alto working between 10-30 hours a week.  This is an entry-level position.  The incumbent will report to the Division Chief and work closely with the Logistics Specialist.  This position will provide extra help around the warehouse including:

• Assist Logistics Specialist with daily routine as needed
• Pick up supplies form local vendors
• Deliver equipment to various work sites
• Clean warehouse including restrooms, taking out trash, and grounds as needed
• Move vehicles
• Clean and wash vehicle and equipment
• Assist with inventory
• May be called to assist with deployments and training of the Urban Search and Rescue Team

In order to be eligible you must:

• Possess a valid California driver’s license and a driving record with minimal violations
• Be 18+ years of age at the time of application
• Must possess a High School diploma, GED or equivalent work experience
• Ability to drive safely in all weather and road conditions
• Must be able to carry 50-100 pounds for a short distance
• Must be capable of climbing on, under and around equipment and capable of bending and twisting using proper safety techniques
• Must be physically able to kneel, squat or crawl as needed
• Must be able to wear company provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
• Ability to work flexible schedules (scheduled or ad hoc)

Court Reporters stenotype a verbatim record of courtroom proceedings and provide general support to the assigned judge related to the official record. Court Reporters work in any court department, including but not limited to, arraignment calendars, family law, civil and criminal trials, law and motion, juvenile, and preliminary hearings, in any of the court's three locations throughout San Mateo County.

The ideal candidate for the Court Reporter position has experience transcribing a full range of courtroom proceedings, is familiar with real time reporting, and possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Certification and/or experience with real time is highly desired. The Court offers differential pay of 10% for employees with real time certification or 5% for real time court certification.

• Attend courtroom sessions to record court proceedings.

QUALIFICATIONS 
Licensure/Certification: Valid Certified Shorthand Reporter License issued by the State of California.

Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.

Knowledge of:

• Methods and techniques of courtroom procedures.
• Laws, regulations and judicial procedures related to court reporting.
• Legal, medical, professional and technical terminology used in a courtroom setting.
• Records management practices and procedures, including indexing and cross-indexing.
• Correct English usage, including grammar, spelling and punctuation.
• Principles and techniques for dealing with the public, often when relations may be strained.

Skill/Ability to:

• Take and transcribe a full range of courtroom proceedings.
• Operate courtroom stenotype equipment.
• Use standard office equipment, including a word processor and/or a personal or on-line computer.
• Organize and prioritize work, meet critical time deadlines and coordinate multiple activities.
• Deal tactfully and effectively with a variety of individuals.

The top candidates from the eligible list will be forwarded to the hiring department for an interview, which is the basis for final selection.

County of San Mateo Health System is excited to be able to offer a unique job opportunity to well-qualified individuals for the position of Supervising Nurse Practitioner (Supervising NP) as part of the County of San Mateo Obstetrics and Gynecology team. This is a full-time, benefited position.
 
The successful hire will receive direction from the Medical Director of Specialty Care and will exercise supervision over assigned Obstetrics and Gynecology NPs, who are located in three clinics (San Mateo Main Campus, Coastside Clinic, and Fair Oaks Health Center). The supervisory scope includes quality improvement, program development, on-site and remote supervision of nurse practitioners, and continuing partnership with the contracted Obstetrics and Gynecology group. This classification is distinguished from the Nurse Practitioner Series for having full administrative supervisory responsibility over other Nurse Practitioners. Clinical supervision of assigned staff is provided by the medical director, supervising physician, contracted physician and/or manager.
 
The Practitioner will work within all clinical areas that serve our Obstetrics and Gynecology patients. Work may include both clinical and administration support throughout San Mateo Medical Center. San Mateo Medical Center is a fully accredited acute/long term care/teaching hospital whose vision is to help every patient live the healthiest life possible. We are an integrated health care delivery system offering primary care, specialty, ancillary, inpatient, long term care and emergency services connected through a unified leadership structure and integrated IT systems. • Work with our contracted Obstetrics and Gynecology Physician group in establishing and meeting quality metrics and goals for patient care
• Establishing workflow process and standardizing the clinical practice throughout San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC) system.
• Supervise the Nurse Practitioners that work in the all Obstetrics and Gynecology clinics in SMMC, this includes selection, performance evaluation, and corrective action.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, their families, hospital staff, community organizations and others.
• Work with our Quality process (LEAP) to have meaningful, data driven improvements in work flow and quality.
• Work with Core team in each location to standardize and ensure best use of resources to meet patient quality care.
• Work with referring providers to improve referring patterns and communications throughout SMMC.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS 
Knowledge of: Principles of personnel training, supervision and evaluation, as well as hiring and selection; principles, practices and procedures used in the detection, diagnosis and treatment of common health problems as related to the clinical specialty; laws, statutes, codes, and regulations related to the specialty area which govern health service providers, and Joint Commission and other regulatory requirements; fundamentals of clinical medicine as related to the clinical specialty of the Clinic or Service; drugs commonly used in the area of specialty including the indications of their use, anticipated therapeutic effect, side effects and untoward reactions and contraindications; safety and infection control practices and procedures; normal and abnormal values of laboratory tests and their clinical significance; operations and care of medical equipment and instruments used in the area of specialty; laws and regulations pertinent to the practice of nursing and medicine applicable to assigned specialty; community resources and referral systems; and provisions of the Nurse Practice Act. 

Skill/Ability to: Supervise and coordinate administrative and operational activities related to assigned clinic or program; coordinate activities with other departments or programs within the Medical Center and the County; direct and participate in the analysis of a wide variety of moderate to complex operational problems and make effective operational and/or procedural recommendations; interpret policies, guidelines and procedures; develop recommendations for improvements, as necessary; supervise, evaluate and train assigned personnel; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; assess the health status of patients; provide health care services including the taking of a complete medical history, doing complete physical examination and other related clinical procedures; identify and manage health problems common in the area of specialty; develop and implement treatment plans for patients according to policies and protocol; analyze and interpret health information/data including results of laboratory testing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, professional staff and others; follow safety practices and procedures; and maintain accurate records and preparing reports. 

Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is three years of practice within specialty area or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
 
Licensure/Certification:

• Possession of a California license as a Registered Nurse.
• Possession of a California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) Nurse Practitioner Certification.
• Possession of a California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) Furnishing Number.
• Possession of a DEA Number.

The San Mateo Medical Center is a public hospital and clinic system fully accredited by the Joint Commission. The Medical Center operates outpatient clinics throughout San Mateo County and also an acute-care hospital. Under general supervision, Nurse Practitioners will provide services such as conducting complete physical examinations, developing diagnostic impressions, and managing care of patients working in one or more specialty areas, such as geriatric, pediatric, family health, or OB/GYN practice.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:

The Nurse Practitioner is fully competent to independently perform a variety of responsible primary health care services and other clinical procedures that require the exercise of a high degree of clinical judgment in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients in a specialized nursing area office support duties. Positions in this series differ from those in the class of Staff Nurse in that Nurse Practitioners provide primary health care services and other clinical procedures that require specialized licensure and the exercise of a high degree of clinical judgment in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients in a specialized nursing area.
